I need the people who bring up traditional/historic methods of meat production as a "gotcha" to veganism to understand that the times in human history they are referencing are when the population was less than one billion. The human population is expected to reach almost ten billion in the next 20 years. Our planet is finite. Do you really think the methods used to feed 500 million will work for 10 billion?
Even if they argue about “grass-fed, humane, small farm, allowed to roam around outside and eats well” or whatever other descriptors, the same would still apply.
"Vegans care more about animals than people" and non-vegans want 8 billion people to stop needing to eat so they personally don't have to give up cheese

I raise you: Any basic need (healthcare, housing, food, water, etc.) should be free for and accessible to anyone and everyone no matter what.
Fun fact: at some point people actually thought that those things should be human rights and like everyone really should just have access. But then the capitalists went: "But everyone needs those. If we just gave them away, how could we extort money from it?" And then the political leaders were: "That is a good point actually. Your right to extort money from people should definitely be valued higher than the right of the people to live."
