This man grew up in a time when trans people used that word for themselves. He probably hung out with a few often enough and just absorbed the language.

when i first began working on this, i expected only a handful of people to use it - i honestly did not even expect my initial post to go past my mutuals/followers. now that it is at a point where hundreds have shown interest, i no longer believe i will be able to afford hosting it out of my own pocket.

something i need everyone to understand is that i am not just paying for server costs, i am paying for a service/builder platform. this is what i use for my day job in web development, and what i am most confident using, especially when it comes to things like security. there is a limit to how many functions the app will be able to perform until i hit a limit and have to pay overages. and this is my biggest concern at the moment.

i have had to cap the total members one user can have at 1000, friends at 100, and groups at 30 (with members only being able to belong to 9 groups). i did not want to impose any limits to make the app as accessible as possible, but even this high of a maximum for members is going to start pushing it.

i really hate to ask for donations, as i know not many people can afford it - and i am not opening them just yet, i am waiting until i have the site functional so people will have something they can actually use when they donate to it. i would just like to know how many of you would realistically be able to donate to help me afford hosting this.

one sacrifice i may have to make if i do not get enough funding is a downloadable mobile app. this will cost me an extra $40+ (per month) that i would rather spend on extra workload so the app will not go down in the middle of the month after prematurely reaching its cap. the site will still be entirely mobile friendly, it would just be browser based instead.

there will be a closed beta stage for this app as well, and i will prioritize access to those who donate. this will give me a better idea as to just how much things will actually cost as well.

i am truly sorry if this is disappointing to anyone. if i had any control over it, i would not have to ask for funding at all, and i would not have any sort of limits or have to sacrifice other things. but i appreciate everyone’s support regardless.

on a brighter note, i will still share some images of progress i have made. i do not have too much to show as the past 2 days i have been primarily focused on optimization and security rather than UI, but i still want people to see i am in fact still working on this and it is not just a concept haha

these images are to show the member profile UI, difference between light and dark mode, and the last two show how updating your member term will change the display of certain things on your page! just using my own system as test data haha

thank you everybody for your patience. i appreciate all of the support all of you have given me on a project i am not even certain of when it comes to finishing it, or now being able to afford it. i really hope things will still be able to move forward with development.

what makes me say this is aspec microlabels specifically. I have now two friends who realized they were on the arospec and the acespec because microlabels exist
