people aren't wrong in saying you should have sympathy for girls with eating disorders but whenever someone uses online eating disorder communities (like ed twitter) as an example I cannot follow...like those girls are getting hate for being just straight up awful to other people who have nothing to do with them. taking someone else's photo and saying you're using it as inspiration to starve yourself is worthy of criticism

god israel's destruction of tyre is like especially depressing tbh like thats one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world. people have lived there since the bronze age. there is so, so so much history and world heritage there that's being blown up and destroyed forever because its existence doesn't fit israel's nationalist vision of history.

mike flanagan vs not compulsively upholding nuclear family connections as an inherently morally good/redemptive force

mike flanagan is so bizarre to me. fundamentally disinterested in, even afraid of, the subject of familial abuse, yet he continues to choose to adapt works that have quite a bit to say on these topics. why bother? you care very much about the family as a healing presence. the familial dysfunction you do write about has a neat, reconciliatory ending. why choose to work with the gothic?

sometimes i have strong opinions but they're also so inane that halfway through writing a post i'll be like "yeah, this is Absolutely not worth the energy it's taking" and delete everything. but then the opinion is still in my head. and i still want to share it. so within five minutes i go "you know, i bet i can phrase it more succinctly this time" and anyway. you all see where this is going. sometimes i do this four times in a row before i give up on the specific inane opinion and instead write a vague post about the concept of opinions as if that'll satisfy the urge to post the entirety of my inner monologue online. may or may not be relevant to what you're reading right now. and now all our lives have been enriched. you're welcome
