Lariat | Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks Saw these guys live the other day at Los Globos for a Newcastle Bartender Gigs event. A bunch of cool bands performed including Spoon. Honestly I hadn't listened to many of these bands before so I was kind of a clean slate. During their set, Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks played this song and caught my attention. The simple yet catchy arrangement and guitar riff really took me back to the 90's for some reason. I think it reminded me of Polaris, the Pete & Pete soundtrack, and a lot of stuff that was coming out early, mid 90's. I had also heard it on KCRW a few weeks back and didn't catch the name, so imagine my surprise when they started playing it live! The show had really good energy, very relaxed and what felt to me like very sincere and genuine participation with the audience, something which is always a big plus. Anyways, check them out!

Red Lotus | Jeremy Zuckerman (Legend of Korra OST) Today, I went to a trial Wing Chun class, mind you I have never done any sort of martial arts before, but doing whatever little that was taught to me and practicing it with a couple other students made me feel pretty bad ass. Also, as dorky as it sounds it also made me feel like part of the Avatar universe, so that's why I posted this. By the way, Legend of Korra is mad amazing, can't wait for Friday.
