Smooth, polished, indifferent; Ahri’s facade becomes increasingly irregular as fatigue settles into the Vulpine’s bones. Lithe digits moving, albeit somewhat unconsciously, to press against a deep laceration staining the fabric of her blouse in tones of warm crimson. Thankfully, not life-threatening. Just painful.

The same could certainly be said of the Dark Guardian’s words. Not because they’re untrue. Rather, because syllables therein contain a cold factuality that she’s surprised another had found the ability to ascertain.

I remember the 2010s. Well, I remember them as much as any person going through puberty during them can remember them, and Tumblr was THE thing that you came home to.

Before Instagram and 50+ minute Youtube videos, I'd find myself endlessly scrolling on Tumblr when I got home from school. There was fan art, "artsy" and "emo" photos, and swept across the forehead bangs. There were so many bangs...

It was the place to doomscroll before we called it doomscrolling.

Then Instagram really took off, and everyone flocked there, especially after Zuckerberg took it over and made it this influencer-type thing. Then TikTok started having ads on Snapchat and dances turned into a shop, and everyone forgot about the blogs they learned HTML for to customize and re-blogging and little red hearts.

Now we're back here.

I wanted a place to type my thoughts on the Internet and be weird again, not that I was weird on Tumblr or even posted anything original back then. I was very much part of the "beware of strangers on the Internet, they aren't Nigerian princes" age group that grew up with computers that were basically cinderblocks. I wanted to be wholly unprofessional and have found out (while it'd be nice to make money) that Substack and Medium are a little too buttoned up for me.

So I hope to find comfort sharing my thoughts or whatever on Tumblr. Even though, it's kind of weird to see a paid version of Tumblr being advertised at the top right.

how many times have i deleted and reactivated - well, really, created new tumblr accounts? - far too many lol

i'll probably write in this a couple of times, forget, then come back years later. such a vicious cycle.
