I'm K, and this is a space for me to share my love of Yuri content :^) This blog will focus mostly on yuri manga, but I'll also reblog stuff about anime adaptations, baihe, textposts, and Yuri art of ships and original characters.
I've been reading Yuri for about two years now and I really love getting my hands on physically published volumes, but I do read online occasionally! To give you a sense of my personal taste, I love to read about adult characters, especially with fantasy, horror, historical, or other genre elements! I love a unique art style, complex characters, and a slow burn especially, but I'll give lots of different Yuri a try :^)
My favorite yuris are:
How Do We Relationship?
She Loves to Cook and She Loves to Eat (the series that introduced me to yuri!)
Black & White: Tough Love at the Office
Love Bullet
Pink Candy Kiss
Pulse
The Moon On a Rainy Night
The Sheep Princess in Wolf's Clothing
Now No One Lurks Beneath the Snow
Still Sick
I'm hoping to use this blog to get more involved in the Yuri/GL community, get recommendations while sharing my own favorite series, and to just have fun!
(Also I follow from @gigantomachylesbian since this is a side blog! My icon and the header/sidebar images on my blog theme are all official art by the creators of the manga featured--Sal Jiang's Tough Love at the Office, Love Bullet by inee, How Do We Relationship by Tamifull, and She Loves to Cook and She Loves to Eat by Sakaomi Yuzaki).

My truth is that I found After Hours volumes 1 and 2 at a secondhand bookstore on vacation (already something I'd take as a fortuitous sign) and they were like 2-5 dollars or something crazy like that but I couldn't do it. Sadly I am actually too picky about art style I CANNOT read something where a 24 year old woman looks like the woman on the bottom right...
again I get that it's an art style thing and just that I have strong arty style preferences in general but not even the low low price could make me give it a try. and perhaps that's not fair of me but it IS the way that I am

Here's a wrapup on all the first volumes I've read recently, both new releases and new-to-me series! I hope you're able to find a new Yuri to read through this post :^)
Marrying the Dark Knight (For Her Money)
Genres: Fantasy, Comedy
Volumes: 3
Rating: 16+
Warnings: Fantasy Violence
Desperate for the funds to treat her sick younger sister, down-on-her-luck noblewoman Clarice agrees to an arranged marriage with the infamously frightening Dark Knight. But when she attempts to consummate their marriage, she's rebuffed and discovers that the Dark Knight is secretly a woman. Now, Clarice must use her wits to try and woo the closed-off, intense lady knight in order to secure her fortune, all while handling a chaotic group of servants and a land of monsters!
This was a super fun fantasy Yuri!!! I'm personally a sucker for arranged marriage stories, and I'm very interested to see Clarice and Frost's relationship develop further after their not-so-great first impressions of each other here. Clarice is a very fun heroine to follow as she's clever, extremely driven, and compassionate, balancing out Frost's stony exterior and hints of a tragic past with her antics. Over all, the sense of humor really worked for me, with lots of very classic-feeling zany expressions and the social expectations created by this arranged marriage. There isn't tons and tons of worldbuilding for the kingdom or the monsters that inhabit it, but tbh the setting is familiar enough not to need it, especially when the main emphasis is really on the vibrant characters. I'm really excited for volume 2!
My Cute Little Kitten
Genres: Slice of Life, Romance
Volumes: 2
Rating: 15+
Warnings: Animal death (off-page)
Rena has had a crush on her roommate and best friend, Yuna, since they met in college, but when Yuna's decision to bring home an abandoned kitten to their no-pets apartment brings their future together into question, Rena is pushed to finally admit her feelings. Now, the two must grapple with Rena's confession and if they should raise their kitten together as a couple!
This was a really sweet, low-stakes introduction to a heartfelt series! I really enjoyed getting some flashbacks to these young women bonding in their college years, as well as exploring their budding relationship in the present. They deal with looking for more permanent housing as two women, jealousy, communication, and of course cat-parenting in ways that are cute, silly, and authentic. While a simpler story on the whole, this was a cozy, romantic read and I'll be collecting the second and final volume as well :^).
Roll Over and Die: I Will Fight for An Ordinary Life with My Love And Cursed Sword!
Genres: Dark Fantasy, Action
Volumes: 8+
Rating: 16+
Warnings: Violence (Fantasy & Otherwise)
Once a member of an adventuring party, Flum has been cast aside for her supposedly useless "reversal" technique, and is on the verge of a grisly death when taking up a cursed sword gives her unexpected power. Now extremely strong, Flum strikes out with Milkit, a fellow captive who has only known violence and slavery, to become a true adventurer. There's also an excerpt of the light novel at the end (or potentially bonus material for the manga, I'm not sure) that seems to focus more on Flum's previous adventuring party; I didn't really read this excerpt since I'm more interested in the main plot tbh, so I'm not sure if it's super relevant to the story.
I'm always looking for more fantasy/action Yuri manga, and this absolutely fits the bill! The fight scenes were really well-done and there was a sinister, dark-fantasy atmosphere to the world, balanced out nicely by Flum's bright determination and care for Milkit. I'm not super familiar with the video game-esque fantasy worldbuilding (where characters literally have stats and things like that) and I'm not sure how I feel about it yet, but it's certainly interesting and I'm invested in learning more about it! It seems like this will be a slower developing series romance-wise as well, which makes sense given the number of volumes and focus on adventure, but in this first installment Milkit (who has never known anything different) still just refers to Flum as her "Master" while Flum works to protect her; this honestly isn't my favorite, but I think I'll have to see how the actual development of their relationship plays out and how they (hopefully) end up on more equal footing, and I'm curious to see how two very mistreated teens are able to connect with each other. While I don't think this is the perfect fantasy Yuri series for me, I think I'll still check out volume two eventually to see if I get more invested.
Drifting Into Summer
Genres: High School, Sports
Volumes: 3
Rating: Teen
Warnings: Implied Self-harm (including depictions of scarring), implied domestic violence (the volume itself also includes content warnings, something I don't see very often and which I really appreciate!)
Volume 1 of Drifting Into Summer follows Anna, an energetic but passionless high school girl, as she takes an interest in Maddie, the champion of the swim team who has unexpectedly quit the sport. When Anna challenges Maddie to an unexpected race, the two girls form a bond built on both competition and understanding.
This was such a beautiful volume! The art style is clean and fluid, perfectly capturing the dynamic movements of swimming and the characters' emotional struggles. While a shorter volume, it packs in a lot of depth and so much love of the sport. It's really interesting to see the contrast between Maddie's endless passion for swimming even while the turmoil in her life has affected her motivation, and the way Anna has fewer clear motivations in comparison but cleverly works to inspire Maddie. I'm absolutely going to be reading the full series and I really recommend it!
Wicked Spot
Genres: Fantasy, Comedy, Josei
Volumes: 2
Rating: 16+
Warnings: Fantasy Violence
In this modern fantasy Yuri, the witch Sadako leaves behind decades of isolating herself in the mountains--just to instantly take off as an influencer! But when she breaks taboo and reveals her true nature to her adoring followers, she quickly gains her first hater in the scary-strong Hanako, and the two begin a game of cat-and-mouse. These two enemies might just end up having to work together when they're captured by a council of witches!
If you know me, you know I'm going to eat up anything Sal Jiang puts out, and Wicked Spot is no exception! I am so obsessed with this story--not only is it such an original take on witches and fantasy, with Sadako being genuinely creepy at times and some great action scenes towards the end, but I am so invested in both our leads. Hanako's experiences with bullying in childhood have absolutely shaped her into someone completely stubborn and resentful at times, while Sadako is a perfect balance of frivolous and deranged as she obsesses over social media--they play off of each other perfectly! I also really enjoyed the setup for a larger plot with the group of other witches and the end of the volume, and the whole thing is complimented by a sleek, sexy, dynamic art style full of expressive and real-looking women. It goes without saying that I'm devastated to hear that this series has been axed since it's genuinely one of the most unique, compelling, and simply best Yuri series coming out now in my opinion, but I still very much do recommend buying and reading the two volumes we will get, both to support the series and because it's just a fantastic story even cut short!
Our Teachers Are Dating!
Genres: Workplace, Romance
Volumes: 4
Rating: Older Teen (mild sexual content)
Warnings: N/A
Gym teacher Hayama and Biology teacher Terano have finally confessed their feelings and begun a relationship--much to the joy of their students and coworkers! These shy lovebirds must figure out the ins and outs of dating, cheered on by those around them as they navigate first dates, first couples' trips, and first times.
This is a very fluffy, lighthearted volume without much conflict, but in my opinion that's part of its charm! It's very low-stakes and tooth-achingly sweet at times, with any misunderstandings or worries soon communicated about and overcome, placing most of the emphasis on Hayama and Terano's feelings and growing devotion to one another. I also love the extremely supportive side characters and seeing everyone cheer on their relationship in this school setting! In future volumes I hope we get a bit more depth to both characters, but I enjoyed this one over all and will be picking up the next in the series :^)
Delinquent and Transfer Student
Genres: School Life, Romantic Comedy
Volumes: 3
Rating: 13+
Warnings: N/A
In this zany school-life manga, new student Riri's favorite pastime is getting the infamous delinquent Atsuko to say cute, silly phrases. This game, while strange, brings the girls closer together, and they bond over unexpected friendship, brawls, and snacks while struggling to say more than just cute words properly.
I loved this volume!!! It was the perfect blend of silly and sincere, balancing the humor created by Riri's cute-words-game and Atsuko's over the top fights with other delinquents with the genuine, heartfelt connection between these two very different girls. There were wacky, fast-paced moments and times when the pacing slowed down for Riri and Atsuko to simply talk and get to know each other better, and we get such a good sense of their growing bond. The art style is also absolutely gorgeous! The main girls and all the side characters also had very vivid personalities and fit in so well to this very exaggerated portrait of high school life and delinquency that has just enough emotional pull to stay grounded. I've preordered volume two and I can't wait to read it!!!
Let me know if you've read any of these volumes and what you thought, or if this introduced you to a new series you want to try out! My favorites this go around were Wicked Spot, Drifting Into Summer, and The Delinquent & the Transfer Student, but I found all of these first volumes enjoyable enough to likely continue in the series :^)
if you or a loved one have ever tried looking up discussion of a female fictional character online only to see terms like ‘waifu’ and ‘best girl’ used you may be entitled to financial compensation
ok yes it’s true ‘mom friend’ and ‘girlboss’ also suck but this is specifically about the nightmare that is dudebro fans looking at every woman in a story like she’s gonna come to life and be his real life loyal housewife. like the implication is that, regardless of the medium of the story, somehow they see this as a dating sim where they choose who their fave is and project romantic fantasies onto her, acting as if they are in any way a part of this fictional world and she could ever love them back. it is the art of ranking every female character by appearance and cute girl tendencies and pitting them against each other. like boy she’s not your domestic girlfriend she is pixels and also she’s too busy fighting for her life inside the hell dimension aren’t you interested in the story
