I love DA2. The shitty graphics. The horrible gameplay. The story so unavoidably devastating and beautiful and horrible. Everyone hates each other. Everyone loves each other. You’re constantly filling the streets with bodies and there are no ramifications for this. There are ramifications for everything you say and do. Everyone’s bisexual. There’s a dragon in the mine. You lose everyone and everything you love and care about and it’s inevitable. Isabela gets an STI at one point. Merrill is a blood mage. You go from rags to riches to going on the run. You have a dog. You set your friend up on a date with the guy she likes. You hunt down a serial killer who takes the last member of your family away. Your doctor friend is possessed and loves cats and commits domestic terrorism. You have no control. You control everything.

I think we need more Amos Burtons in fiction because the whole “if you kill him you’ll become just like him. I’m already like him. Give me the gun.” is such a fucking MOOD and he does it REPEATEDLY

I love that Rocky is a bland beige rock with too many limbs and no face! I love that he's so unmarketable and goes against the rules of character design principles!! It's kind of incredible how easily and effortlessly Divinity: Original Sin 2 went "Yes, Sourcerers are powerful, some of them misuse that power to terrifying ends, and the evil that seeks to exploit them - the Void - is a threat that absolutely needs to be destroyed" while also saying "And yet the system in place to try and prevent these things - the Magisters - is cartoonishly evil and corrupt, and even though there may be a few good Magisters who want to change the system and recognize the abuses it commits, they are not enough to outweigh the evils of the system." in the same breath. Something Dragon Age struggled to do. For four games.
