u know how HURTFUL it is and CALLED OUT i feel when im venting to my therapist about being afraid to set boundaries with my boss and she goes “do you think you’d have this same concern if it was a woman? do you think this might have to do with it being a male authority figure?” and the answer is YES. please don’t call me out like that. please let me live in delusion that this is unrelated to any issue i have with my father. pleas let me pretend my daddy issues do not permeate EVERY aspect of my life id rather just avoid this acknowledgment

also the very direct acknowledgment that i’ve never really been shown compassion (especially not while struggling) is the most insane thing ive had to sit with in a while and i hate to think about this and id almost rather just continue to believe that im really hard on myself for struggling just because it’s a silly little kate thing not because like. i genuinely can’t wrap my mind around the concept of receiving compassion because i have never received it before
