Bpd and mood stabilizers lets talk about it.
I will be using myself and accounts from friends with diagnosed bpd as examples. Please keep in mind I only have heavily suspected bpd not fully diagnosed yet. Also be aware i am on antipsychotics primarily for schizophrenia that also double as mood stabilizers and my friend is on typical mood stabilizers.
Mood stabilizers calm everything down, they are noted to reduce mood swings and intensity of emotions somewhat dulling everything. While this can be problematic due to people with bpd often already having dulled emotions until they’re extremely intense it cannot be helped that the medications dull emotions further. Although many people with bpd also feel emotions extremely intensely often so this dulling of emotions can be helpful to many.
In my experience it dulls my obsessions as well, my obsessive tendencies towards people are still they're just much less intense and I feel much less ecstasy when talking to the person i’m fixated on. These obsessions still come in swiftly and clearly though, I will become easily attached to and think about a person near constantly and be constantly scared of them abandoning me.
Fear of abandonment doesn’t go down much at least on antipsychotics, but my splitting-like symptoms have significantly decreased. I used to have symptoms similar to a split nearly every night but have now only had them occasionally. This is due to the mood regulation making it more difficult for rapid mood swings that splitting entails to exist.
Symptoms such as impulsivity, suicidalness feelings of emptiness, attention seeking etc do not go down with mood stabilizers, things like feelings of emptiness can even be more clear and intense due to mood swings not distracting from it and intense panic. It’s a trade off that you have to make if you have a psychotic disorder comorbid with bpd or bpd-like symptoms
Most of this is my account from taking antipsychotics so this may not be super accurate to normal mood stabilizers as i’ve never taken them, side effects and such differ between the drugs.
My psychiatrist just told me She sees me having conduct disorder but doesn’t want to label me with it. Do I count this as a diagnosis or no?
Columbina is my wife btw 🥹

Schizoaffective disorder is a mental disorder that combines psychotic and mood disorder symptoms. More specifically schizophrenia and bipolar or depression symptoms.
symptoms can include: hallucinations, delusions, paranoia, disorganized thoughts and speech, lack of empathy, flat affect, memory problems, periods of mania (which includes impulsivity, increased energy, etc) periods of depression (lack of motivation, feeling down most of the time, etc) and lack of motivation.
Just like schizophrenia/bipolar/depression this can cause struggles in school and home life.
For schizoaffective disorder to be considered you must have at least 2 weeks where you aren’t having a major mood episode but have psychotic symptoms.
Schizoaffective disorder is commonly comorbid with gad, ptsd, other anxiety disorders and in childhood onset cases specifically adhd

If you refuse to acknoledge that schizophrenia or really any mental illness is neurodivergence despite being told just because it’s a disability and mental illness ur automatically ableist
It's one of the most basic statements ever and yet i have to argue with people about it i think people have a mysticised idea of neurodivergence in their heads. Say shit like "you can become neurodivergent by the way" and people will look at yuh funny. As if it's just not 1+1
Edit: not me shaming ignorance particularly. But people who refuse to learn about it and wants neurodivergence to be gatekept.

Turns out I was actually hallucinating all the way back when I was 8, My mom just told me I’d tell her about things that weren’t there Like people when I was around 8
hey i know no one will probably see this other than people who already know it but. schizophrenic/schizospec people aren't all homeless people talking to themselves or people stuck in psych wards trying to kill everyone or whatever they tell you. for example, i just kinda sit in my room and don't bother anyone like maybe 80% of the time. i scroll on my phone. i watch movies and play games on my computer. i do chores when i (rarely) have the energy. i have a partner who i love and who tries their best to understand me and help me no matter what's going on with me.
yes, i also have a lot of crazy ideas that i believe and i see and hear things that aren't there and sometimes i start freaking out because i think someone close to me died when they're perfectly fine or that someone's coming to kill me or that my pets have been replaced with alien creatures, but i'm also a person with a life and a childhood and friends and i am not a threat to anyone.
and i'm here. on tumblr. on youtube. in real life. i can see and hear what everyone says about people like me. and i'm fucking tired of it.
treat people with psychotic disorders like people. please. it's not hard to do.
A doctor told me I have schizoaffective disorder but my dad told him not to diagnose me so he didn’t, do I count this as being diagnosed just not on paper or no😭✌️
