he just believes. like, has to believe. that it was worth it... that he chose it, because it was right, and that therefore even though he was exploited he isn't a victim, because he Did The Right Thing and he can still Do The Right Thing. and he has to hang on to that idea. because he can't see a way Out. like if you actually talk to him he pretty readily tells you that if he thought he could get out of his pact without getting turned into a lemure he would, but that isn't on the table! it only ends up being possible in the first place because of the Insane circumstances of the plot of the game! so he clings to the idea that he can use his pact to do right by the people of the sword coast and bring some good into the world despite what mizora wants, because he wants to be the help to others that he was denied when he was forced to choose between turning to her or letting over 100,000 people die, and because if he can do that then he thinks it makes everything that's been Done To Him worth it

like he literally knows it's bad! his relationship with his father is i think more complicated and he really struggles to be angry with his dad or perceive his disownment as like. a cruelty. against him. in part because his father is the person who taught him the values he holds so closely and they are each-other's Only family and also in part because, well, if you asked wyll to choose between wyll and the gate he'd pick the gate every time too, so. but he literally does know that what mizora did and does to him is awful! he doesn't need to be gentle parented to this conclusion! he's just. choosing to be good and kind and warm and set aside his rage to help others Anyway. because for wyll it is that or despair.

I get why some think so and I blame Larian for it because of how poorly they handled the poly relationships generally speaking and very importantly, because they clearly couldn't commit to making it undoubtedly clear he's not going to change his preferences for the player because they didn't want to put off those who want to romance him monogamously (so they had him saying he only wants Tav and all that, that he isn't interested in roaming anymore - which by the way, isn't referring to relationships here!!) but I think some fans should be more I don't know, mindful?

He is the only unabashedly and unambiguously openly polyamorous character in the entire game and erasing this feels icky. And yes I know people can change, I don't believe this was ever the intention with Halsin, like at all, let's be honest. Realistically, any attempt to turn him monogamous should probably end with him and Tav parting ways.

I was complaining about the lack of Orin in Dark Urge ask games before realising, hey, I have a lot to say about Orin, why don't I make one myself? So here we are.

When did your Durge and Orin meet? What was their relationship like initially? Did their feelings towards each other change over time?

What was their relationship with Orin like immediately before the tadpole lobotomy? Was Orin sure in her decision, or did she regret what she was going to do?

How did Orin go about taking your Durge down? Did she need to trick them? Was Durge blindsided, or did they see her betrayal coming?

Clarifiers:

*They will be loyal to you, the PC. Their interactions with anyone else at camp…well….So picking someone who is say, difficult to get along with…may cause complications.

*You can romance them.

*You can try to redeem them, or make them worse, whatever you like. Some may be less inclined to redemption than others though.

*If you take someone who is owned, or employed, and bring them around their owner- it may upset the person and lock you out of quests/dialogues: ie, bringing Haarlep around Raphael.

Clarifiers:

If the baby is Orin's then there is no pregnancy plot, period. No cooing over the kid by Karlach, no comments from other companions. Drow are very deliberate about who they reproduce with and once she gets her mind back Minthara hates Orin far too much to let anything of hers remain inside of her. This woman probably knows like 50 different abortifacients, that fetus is dead by the end of the day.

In fact, looking over their blog, the general tenor of their posts about Minthara seem to take glee in punishing Minthara for "traumatizing" Halsin^ by knocking her out so that their Tav can erase her mind in Moonrise (Halsin approves!) or cheering on her being cast out of camp in the (also-cut) ultimatum scene to be enslaved by the Absolute again.

In this light, the comment about a potential Orin/Minthara baby seems to fit into a general pattern of punishing Minthara for (being tangential to) crimes committed against their (male) blorbo - by destroying her mind, by subjecting her to a fate she considers worse than death, or by alluding blithely to her being raped and wanting to see her carry the resulting baby to term. Sexual assault as a punishment for a woman who wronged(???) their man. It's a disturbingly familiar refrain.
