It took me so long to draw that I'm a bit emotional now that it's finished🥹
Some more technical rambling below:
I loved drawing all the little details in the eyepatch and ear, this is the kind of thing I used to fill my notebooks' margins at school, so I was prepared 😁
It was my first time painting a shiny armor, scary stuff. It wasn't easy to capture Julia's brilliance: "dazzling golden armor, overlaid on rich, brown leather (...). A whitish sheen gleamed across the surface, refracting faint prisms as he moved into the room’s faelight;" I see the vision in my head as he moves and the light is refracted, but the painting doesn't move and I was worried it would just look like a colorful armor. But I think it's subtle enough, and I love how it turned out.
The hardest part was his face, mostly due to my own stupidity. At first I wanted his head to be slightly turned up, but at that angle he: 1. has no chin, 2. has no nose, 3. is not elongated and sharp like Eris in my head. I just couldn't make him handsome. And then his expression, it was either too smug or too happy or too sad. And all I wanted was "proud and moved, emotional but restrained", how hard can that be 🙄

Initially this was based on an idea I had of Azriel suspecting that Eris is aware of their bond; and taunts Eris into feeding him. (Az asks him for an apple. Not knowing how it'll affect the bond- Eris hesitates midway. Az yoinks that wrist over)
And now that I think about it, this was probably also inspired by my love for @neciebee 's bloody perfect fic "I Need You" on AO3 which I implore you to read if you haven't 🤌🍇
And then the ever brilliant @mistandmemories said how this piece looks like a version of Adam and Eve where Az deliberately chooses to sin instead. And I shall never unsee it! take your snake Az 🥵🐍

He ensured his voice remained soft, almost gentle. The dead roots tangled at their feet shivered with anticipation, the air chilling and stretching and screaming between them.
“Yes, father.”
A toneless answer. It lacked any of the pride Eris utilized in court.
Good. It meant he truly did understand.

Anyway Fresh Meat was a birthday present last year for and lo that time of year has rolled around again, on my side of the international dateline anyway, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY YOU SPECTACULAR CREATURE and I hope this brings back good memories because writing Fresh Meat was a fucking blast. Planned 4 k, wrote sixty more than that. Hopeless. Irresistible.

Eris pushes open the bathroom door. The huge, emerald-tiled room is warm and steamy; Azriel stands under the rainfall shower head, his face upturned, eyes closed in bliss.
Unable to hold back the smile that pours over his face, Eris stares in mute and immobile delight until Nesta’s tinny squawk makes Azriel jump and cover himself.
“Eris, what the fuck?” he cries.
“Our lawyer would like an urgent word,” says Eris.
Azriel’s cheeks bloom rosily. He turns away, which unfortunately only makes the view more delicious. “Stop it! Fuck off!” he yells over his shoulder.
Eris switches back to the selfie camera. “Sorry,” he says unrepentantly to Nesta. “He’s busy.”
