Randomly remembered how as a kid my mom would always fast forward through the beginning of 'Finding Nemo' because she thought Coral's death was too violent, so for years I never knew why Nemo was raised by a single father and assumed Nemo's parents had gotten fish divorced and Marlin had won custody of Nemo. My dad's biological parents divorced when my dad was young, so I always knew what divorce was and I knew my Grandma had gotten primary custody of my dad, so I just assumed that's what happened with Nemo. It wasn't until years later when I watched Finding Nemo with my grandparents without my mom and they didn't know to fast forward through the beginning that I finally knew what happened to Coral and I was *devastated*.

In between
I was wondering how they were going to do the shrub scene since I wasnโt expecting them to walk though the audience.
Paul and Emma walk up and down the aisles and the left and right before going to the stage.
Emma asks Paul if he lives around this area. Paul says no, but he does know his way around the streets. Then he goes to try and make up a name, โThey used to call me tom cat - ally catโ (or something like that).ย
Emma goes โThey call you what? Tom cat-โ Paul goes โSorry forget that I had a stroke.โ
Iโm sorry I donโt know if this is exactly what they said but it was kinda like this.
Sadly there is no shrubs comment.
When they get to the stage there is a very good set piece of a pile row of trash cans.
Bill, Charlotte, and Ted all pop out of the trash cans (my friend whispered to me "Oscar the Grouch momentโ when this happened).
Show Me Your Hands
(I'm once again asking you to give props to the choreography, cuz it pops off in this song).
This part has gotten a little bit fuzzy for me but some moments I remember was that two people managed to get cornered by the cops on the right while the others go offstage to the left. They loop back around to the left though and then they are all captured(?) and put in the cop car.
I want to mention that something like this was also mentioned in Ranbooโs stream around 1:24:07 they mention getting a police car on stage
While it is not an actual car on stage it looks like all of them are in a car while the cops are swerving around. (This is during the โSerg itโs your wifeโ part)
When Charlotte tries to talk to Sam he takes off his glasses to look at her but then his hands start shaking as he puts them back on.
Does this mean that they still have control over themselves or is Pokey just messing with them?
When Ted hits Sam over the head his hat doesnโt come off which does make the reveal of his brain better in my opinion.
Charlotte seemed to struggle to pick up the gun (she seemed very afraid of holding a gun).
In between
The prop brain is very good, very realistic. For some reason Charlotte places it on Samโs chest later in the scene
When Emma is explaining Professor Hidgens she catches a glimpse of Sam and gags. She uses her hand to avoid looking at him.
When Emma gets close to Charlotte, Charlotte tries to show the brain and Emma starts leaning away.
We finally get a full scene with Hidgens. Can I just talk about him for a sec? Will Branner definitely turned up the theater kid-ness by 11. This guy could not stop striking poses. Hidgensโ voice is more towards Doc Brown I think. Itโs more raspy and I would describe it like Hidgens saying โGood god!โ in the original.
The scene of Hidgens watching the news has him behind a black background similar to the opening number. However, when he lets Emma and the rest in the background rises and we see the changed up set. (Oh also when Hidgens is watching the news he sticks out his tongue in disgust when the news talks about Clivesdale.)
Hidgensโ house (mansion?) is AWESOME. To the right we see what seems to be his doomsday storage. My friend pointed out that there was a cork board but itโs very hard to see what is on it.
To the left we see that Hidgens has a painting of himself up on the wall (which is just like him to be real).
Even though Iโm pretty sure that Hidgens has a gothic mansion the inside seems pretty modern, with a lamp and orange couch to the left.
Hidgens keeps Alexa in his pocket and stares at it too long and maybe kisses it?
The rest up until Ted and Charlotte are left alone is basically the same.
Speaking of Ted he seems to be a bit more sympathetic in this. When he tosses Charlotte the keys and tells her โIโm going to hit on that crabby baristaโ he choked up and was on the verge of tears.
Tied Up My Heart
Leading up to this Charlotte praying to God seems much more emotional (but maybe that just me).ย
Sorry guys this song specifically has evaded much of my memory but Iโll try my best.
There was a lot more chair choreography and Sam seems to keep pulling Charlotte in. I donโt know if there is any alien power doing that, if itโs metaphorical of Charlotte getting pulled back by Sam, or if she just doesnโt want to leave him.
I think I already saw someone talk about this but when Sam โdiesโ his wig fell off his head. Jeff kept trying to adjust it before it fell off and even when he grabbed it (even though his hands were supposedly tied) and tried to put it back on. It still fell off. Since the crowd was laughing I wasnโt able to catch what was being said but Charlotte grabs the wig tries to put it on, it falls off again, and then she tosses it off stage saying โ-the professor can fix this.โ
The intestines for Charlotte getting disemboweled were so good.
In between
The whole โkick you headโ goes as normal but I think instead of Bill slapping Tedโs hand he slaps his face. Ted is pretty shocked by that. Ted goes to lay on the couch while Bill goes off to the side.
While talk between Paul and Emma goes basically the same except in the beginning a spotlight shines down on them but they were a bit too far to the left so they had to awkwardly scooch over to be centered.
Join Us (And Die)
I didnโt bring this up before since it wasnโt that relevant but at the center back of the stage there are stairs that lead up to this archway(?) Iโm bringing this up now because instead of Charlotte and Sam coming from the audience they appear at the top of those stairs.
I canโt remember much of the choreography for this one (sorry James and Lauren) but at the end Professor Hidgens appears from an alcove at the top left of the set and shoots both of them.
In between
The professor disappears from the left alcove and you still hear his voice as he comes down. Everyone is facing the left from where they expect him to come out, but he appears from the right and spooks everyone.
When they all have to sing the beginning of Moana it is literally unintelligible. They were just singing over each other. You could kinda hear Bill sing the Lion King but that was drowned out by all of the noise.
Tedโs whole speech of him telling Bill that he wonโt make it in time to save Alice felt more emotional. Him gesturing to Charlotte and Sam when he talks about the โpeople who are fucking deadโ just seemed more emotional seeing it live. It also seemed like he was more concerned about Bill dying than in the original (but that could be just me)
Ok guys thatโs it for now Iโve made it to intermission. Like before if youโre going to see the musical tell me if you see anything different or correct me if Iโm wrong! Iโm very tired from writing and Iโm already at 7 pages and Iโm only half way there. But seriously the next part is probably going to take longer since for this part I literally just woke up and started typing all of this in 3 hours. Ok bye!
