Rey: Literally spent all of her downtime flying a flight simulator to the point that it could no longer throw anything at her she couldn’t handle. For all kinds of ships. Nor did she solely scavenge star destroyers. She spent her entire life scavenging every imaginable wreck on Jakku, and her survival depended on her learning what ships had what parts and what was valuable. This, while competing with other scavengers, most of them working in teams. 

Which meant she had to learn how to fight, or else she wouldn’t have gotten out of childhood.

Basically, Rey had way more in-canon reasoning to be as good as she was than Luke Skywalker did–who basically went from never flying much out of atmo to piloting an X-wing under combat conditions and rocking it… apparently just because of genetics and the Force. Who then went on, only half-trained, into a fight that even YODA thought he was going to die in, and survived, against a man literally birthed by the Force, trained as both a Jedi AND a Sith, with about 25 years of combat experience under his belt, whereas Luke had had a lightsaber for about 3 years. What a Mary Sue he was, huh?

Rey had more reason to be what she was than Anakin Skywalker, who accidentally wound up in a fighter and accidentally destroyed a droid ship. Anakin who was such a Mary Sue he was LITERALLY A VIRGIN BIRTH. How Mary Sue is THAT?

Oh and here is a lil chunk of the new tattoo! Sorry if this is oversharing, haha. This has taken about 6 sessions, maybe if I get brave I’ll post the big “Animalia” text at the bottom, it’s gorgeous.

So we all know the butthurt fanboys are whining about Rey’s grasp of the Force coming on too quickly and her figuring out her powers faster than we’ve seen before.

But I just realized something.

Rey…she’s an incredibly trusting person. It’s one of the many traits that leads me to headcanon her as autistic, actually–she tends to take things at face value. She pretty much always says what she’s thinking and seems to take it as a given that everyone else does too.

The price of these goods is cut in half from the last time? Sure.

You’ll come back for me? Don’t worry, I’ll be here.

You’re a Resistance fighter? Cool.

That guy stole your master’s jacket? I’m on it.

You’re Han Solo? The Han Solo? Sounds legit.

And then:

The Force is real? All those old legends are true? And it’s strong in me?

Okay.

“I don’t believe it!” “That is why you fail.”

Rey trusts people, she takes what they say on faith because she herself is an honest and genuinely kind (if extremely angry) person and just sort of works on the assumption that everyone else is, too, until proven otherwise. So when they tell her she’s Force-sensitive, she doesn’t question it. Maybe the truth scares her, but she never doubts that it’s the truth regardless.

She accepts very quickly that she’s strong in the Force, she never has any denial or doubt about that once she’s told, and so–unlike Luke, who very much wanted to become a Jedi and spent so much time focusing on what he would be someday that he stopped himself from really accessing what he already was–Rey has a very solid sense of herself and, very logically, realized that if she’s like the Jedi of old in all those stories, well, then she can do these things. It’s just a question of figuring out how. 

WE get in trouble because selfish, middle class teenagers who want a chuckle nab hundreds of dollars worth of stuff without paying- then we, the staff, either get blamed for STEALING IT or get blamed for letting someone steal it. We get in trouble because Suzy just HAD to have those designer jeans, or that bronzer, or that bottle of jack. I don’t judge people who steel food too heavily because I get it, you need to eat, I don’t like it but you do what you gotta. But defending theft as some ‘radical’ stick it to the man movement is bullshit.

You’re not hurting the man/the bourgeoisie/the 1%, you’re hurting the people on the ground who are trying to make an honest living and NEED their jobs.
