𖤝 itoshi sae wants you to rely on him
it frustrates him, honestly.
sure, sae loves how independent you are — always handling your own stuff, from your job to your errands, never needing a hand. It’s one of the things that drew him to you, that fire in you that doesn’t waver.
but sometimes, it drives him up the wall. he wants you to lean on him, to give him something to do, anything — a task, a favor, a command. he’d drop everything to do it, no complaints, no hesitation. just say the word, and he’s there.
he’s waiting for it, always. when you’re out together, he lingers, eyes flicking to your bag, hoping you’ll hand it over, even if it’s just a tiny purse. but you never do. you sling it over your shoulder, keep walking, and he’s left trailing behind, itching to help.
he won’t admit it out loud — sae itoshi, begging? never. he’s too proud for that, too stubborn to whine. but god, he’s desperate for you to ask him for something.
then one day, you’re in the kitchen, cooking dinner, and you casually say, “sae, can you pass the salt?” It’s nothing — literally just salt. but he’s already by your side, grabbing the shaker from the counter like it’s his life’s mission.
he hands it to you, and you give him that soft smile, the one that says you appreciate it but you’re fine on your own. he eats it up anyway, heart racing like he just scored a goal.
sae starts subtly creating situations where you might need him, like “accidentally” leaving your jacket at home so you have to borrow his when it gets cold, or tightened the lid on a jar just enough so you’ll ask him to open it.
he lowkey sabotages small things, like hiding your keys in an obvious spot, just to feel useful when you ask him to help find them.
when you finally ask him for something bigger — like fixing a shelf or carrying groceries, he’s so efficient it’s almost scary, but he plays it cool, like it’s no big deal, even though he’s internally screaming with joy.
he secretly loves it when you’re stressed and let him take over, like when you’re swamped with work and he silently starts handling your chores without you asking.
if you ever thank him for helping with that soft smile of yours, he’ll shrug it off with a “... it’s nothing,” but the way his ears turn pink gives him away.
he starts leaving little notes around your place, like “tell me if you need anything” or “I’m free, just say it,” hoping you’ll take the hint.
one time, you absentmindedly ask him to tie your shoelaces because your hands are full, and he does it with such focus you’d think he’s defusing a bomb — then he looks up at you like he’s waiting for more orders.
