Kudos to Kubo

Hi folks; Adrian here.

While I would like to go back into the world of Kubo and the Two Strings with Kubo Appreciation Week, there has been a bunch of stuff that has occurred in my life in the past six months, while certain parts of the world are starting or making progress in coming out of quarantine or lockdown or whatever restrictions our governments put in place to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

The plan was to expand this year’s edition into a month-long celebration of one of our favorite movies. Emma and I, however, have focused more on our own works and duties as of late. For myself, my job at SeaWorld as a food service attendant has precluded my ability to give Kudos to Kubo the attention it deserves so that you folks can continue to follow along and enjoy positive content about Kubo, and the rest of Laika’s filmography.

I’ve decided that it’s best to let it go, and come back to it whenever the time and opportunity presents itself. 2019 was our last edition of Kubo Appreciation Week for the foreseeable future.

I still enjoy watching Kubo whenever I’m able to, and of course I enjoyed watching Coraline, Missing Link, and Corpse Bride, and whenever I have time to do so, I hope to catch up with ParaNorman and the Boxtrolls. I also look forward to whatever Laika is brewing up in their warehouse near Portland, Oregon. But life, and the shit that comes along with it, happens, and given that I’m an autistic adult (who might possibly have ADHD) in my early 20s now, there’s probably other important things that I should be giving my attention towards.

I have, however, enjoyed putting this project together for the past three or four years, and I hope to come back to it in the near future. This isn’t the end of Kudos to Kubo--but it’ll be back soon. ;)

Don’t panic if you’re thinking they’re gonna stop making stop-motion films.

They’ll still make their animated movies. This is just a little detour to expand their storytelling abilities. That’s all! ;)

In light of recent events touched upon on Adrian’s open letter regarding this year’s edition of Kubo Appreciation Week, Kudos to Kubo will share its own recommendations on the movies and episodes of TV shows and podcasts you’ll probably want to stream to get a better (or, at least, a basic) understanding of America’s Black culture; the Black Lives Matter movement; and everything else in between, for next month.
