Hey! I'm back!

So for today, I decided to use my tumblr account to answer some common interview questions. Yes! You read that right. I am feeling a pretty anxious with regards to my online interview this afternoon. Actually, this will be my third online interview to date and am still not used to this medium. Right! I haven't got the VA position I shared with you last February. I was really happy with that interview. It gave me enough confidence to assume I'll get the job. So, when the company didn't call after that, I was extremely sad that I stopped sending applications. I joined to a fandom and tried to busy myself there.

Fast forward to October, I revised my resume and send out to several companies. Yesterday, I got a response and was asked to answer some questionnaires and personal information sheet. Then, when I accomplished those, they messaged me to prepare for an online interview today. I am pretty happy. But as the hours came past, I started to feel anxious. I don't want to ruin this interview, this chance. I need a job. I want to work again. Hence, I'm here.

Writing this will help to calm myself I believe. This will also help to practice my answers later. Below are the questions I'll be going to answer in preparation for the interview. Let's go!!!

What Are Your Weaknesses?

I tend to become a very independent person when it comes to work whatever responsibilities I may get. I like to discover things on my own. I rarely ask for help. This has been one of my personal issues when I joined my last company. Most of the time we work as a team. Honestly, I enjoy working with everyone. I have grown to love working with different kinds and level of people within our organization. However, when problems arose, I always tend to keep and resolve it on my own. I'm afraid to burden anyone. And I think this is a weakness that I need to work on.

Why Should We Hire You?

Because you're hiring. No! Kidding aside. It's because I need a job. NO! Don't say that, honey! So, why would someone hire me? The job post is looking for someone with a background in communication or marketing with good communication and interpersonal skills. I believe and confident that I do possess those qualifications. My work in the sales industry helped me to hone, improve my communication skills. I have worked with different types and level of people within the organization, and I also worked with different clients from different parts of the world. For the last 3 years, I have built a very good relationship with them.

Today, I finished my very first online interview for a VA position. Last year, I didn’t like the thought of having a home-based career. I have never, ever, considered working via online. I am a typical career woman who loves to be in a regular office set up. I always love the adrenaline of meeting different kinds of people, employees every day. However, since we are in a pandemic season where we’ve been forced to live in a new normal setting where all of us kept at home, transactions, businesses, and interactions became virtual. Sadly, we, I, needed to cope up with such setting. 

At first, I tried to sell things online. I sold home-baked goodies and some pre-loved clothes. I started to create Facebook pages for my products. It went well. I received several orders weekly and it goes for about four months. Customers are happy and satisfied with my products. Come December, I had to stop selling because I sprained my right shoulder up to my neck, and it became harder to make orders. I am a one woman business only. I do the baking and cooking. I do my own marketing and content. All the concepts and menu every week is also my work. I am the food stylist at the same time the product photographer and deliveryman. It is indeed exhausting, but I am happy. 

Fast forward to 2021, I know I needed something more. I started to sign up for free online courses like Google Garage and LinkedIn Learning. I have already completed four (4) courses which are related to Social Media Marketing. Digital Marketing, specifically Social Media Marketing have boomed because of pandemic. I wanted to apply for a certain Facebook Ad course I found on Facebook. It seems more legitimate than any other online courses I found on the internet. However, the said course is too expensive. I cannot afford it. I hope in the future, if I’ll be able to land a job, I will still have the drive to pursue it. 

The plan this year is to consider applying for a home-based job. I sent out three (3) applications via Online Jobs PH. After 2 days, one of them emailed me and was told I am one of the shortlisted applicants. That was really unexpected. I didn’t have any portfolio to show, but I am shortlisted. It gave me enough confidence to send more applications. I told myself I needed to find ways to cope up with the new normal. Besides, 2 weeks from now will be my first anniversary of being unemployed. I have to get a strong hold onto these desires of landing into a good job. Whether I get hired or not is really uncertain. If I’m to say today, I know I’ve done pretty well in today’s interview. I usually feel very nervous and tend to lose my thoughts during a virtual interview. The nervousness I felt earlier is not overwhelming that it did not hinder me at all to answer all the questions. To sum up, I am happy and satisfied with my performance today. I’ll start to be more confident and motivated every day. I will continue to find a job and will update here, soon :) .

For the last months, I’ve been reflecting on myself. Like, who am I, the things I want I to do, the things I want to pursue, where I am going, my future. I have been thinking about it nonstop, day and night. The answers won’t come overnight. It costs me quite a few sleepless nights of recalling past decisions, heartaches, people, and all the things I have done that led me to the things I have really regretted. Self-doubt - I really doubted myself and time. I always say common things don’t pressure me at all anymore. But, today, I feel like I am cramming. I feel like I am losing things one at a time instead of gaining, instead of learning. 

Every time I feel like breaking down, I convince myself to always trust God, his timing, his goodness. He is the Lord of all the Lords, the mighty king. That nothing I need, he cannot provide. But, then, last week, in the middle of my prayer and fasting activity, I felt weak. Not the feeling of hunger or thirst. I suddenly felt lonely, pressured. There’s this sudden feeling of craving to break free. In result, I broke my fast, eat a lot of carbs, sweets. I skipped my devotionals and prayers. It’s been almost a week. I still have that feeling of tiredness. I still feel like I want to cry or shout or swim. I don’t know how to swim, but I feel like doing it now. I feel like the ocean’s water and sound will warm my heart, calm me.
