Mostly here for the Dadmight. Other fandoms include Critical Role, Spy x Family, and Our Flag Means Death. Not a spoiler-free blog. Will reblog any other randomness I enjoy. pfp Baydews picrew
The time has come for me to create a master list of all my BNHA fan fiction! If you are a Dadmight fan, then you are in the right place.
Fics will be organized based on their chapter count, then the one shots will be in a random order. Each will have a brief description and a link to the fic. All listed fics are complete. Fics with a * next to them are considered personal favorites.
Always mind the tags, but a couple things apply to all my fics at this time:
All fics are rated T or G.
None of the fics contain romantic relationships or character deaths.
Many of my fics contain manga spoilers.
These fics primarily contain fluff and angst.
This list will be updated as I write more fics.
Multi-Chapter
*Of Fingernails and Bangs
Bakugou and Todoroki finally have their provisional licenses, which allowed them to take down some villains on the way back from the exam. Izuku is beyond thrilled for them - really, he is. He can't help but compare their success against his own recent failures with Black Whip, though, and All Might's boasting about his classmates really doesn't help. So, Izuku revisits an old nervous twitch in his pent-up frustrations and worries.
*The Stars Shine Brighter With Your Eyes Upon Them
Izuku Midoriya and All Might, after a bad week, find themselves making similar wishes on a shooting star. Their wishes are closer to coming true than either of them realize, but in order to bridge the gap, they need to confront some unspoken things between them.
(8 Chapters)
The concept of Quirk Singularity is fringe enough that Izuku Midoriya and All Might have some difficulty learning more about it. Izuku is no stranger to finding unexpected things in research, but it still startles him to stumble upon a similar yet related theory along the way: Quirk Soulmate Theory.
OR: Having a close relationship with someone who has a similar quirk can create soulmate bonds, something All Might is wholly unprepared to deal with.
(7 Chapters)
(This is the central work of the series with the same name. The other stories are in-universe shorter fics.)
One simple movie night with Class 1-A is all it takes for All Might and Izuku to finally become truly vulnerable with each other. And once they open up, it makes room for all kinds of experiences a father and son might share.
(5 Chapters)
All Might does what he can to teach Izuku Midoriya everything he knows, to give him everything he can, things big and small, the obvious and the less obvious. And while he's determined to never ask for anything in return, Izuku is the only one who can give All Might the one thing he really wants.
(2 Chapters)
One has feathers too young to fly. The other has wings too damaged to show. But as Izuku Midoriya and Toshinori Yagi bond during ten months of training on the beach, they each grow comfortable enough with the other to help their wings be the best they can be. Just as family would.
AKA: A Dadmight Wingfic.

Keep Reading for One Shots
*You who are many where we are one
The vestiges of One for All love Toshinori Yagi as much as Izuku Midoriya does. And now that they can make the smallest amount of contact with the ninth, maybe they can do more to care for the eighth.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/33586720
An Old-Fashioned Photo Album
As Midoriya helps All Might move into the new UA dorms, he comes across a piece of memorabilia for the old hero. This leads to a series of revelations and confessions from each of them.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/30321408
*The Oracle
The Oracle’s quirk allows her to see the name and a defining color of a person’s greatest joy. She readily uses it to thank those who have done her a great service.
There are two who have been bestowed this gift. Each has been given the name of the other. One knows, the other does not.

For a Moment In Between
As Izuku Midoriya and All Might wait for Izuku's gauntlets to arrive from America, All Might takes Izuku somewhere he's never been before. He claims it's an attempt to teach him a hard truth about death, but Nana Shimura's vestige knows better. She knows there's something else Toshinori really wants to say.

What Was Lost, What Was Almost Lost

Did You Really Not Know?
All Might and Izuku Midoriya decide that they are like father and son to each other early on in their relationship, at some point when they're training on the beach. Rather than just telling everyone that, though, they decide to mess with anyone who asks.
OR: 5 times Izuku and All Might don't admit to being father and son, and 1 time they do.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/31511447
An Unfamiliar Feeling
Midoriya and All Might resume some of Midoriya's training at the beach, where they run into an unexpected visitor. The visitor makes Toshinori Yagi face an unfamiliar feeling, but not a bad one.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/30325413
fit for the future fight
Little Satoshi Ando is Deku’s number one fan, no question about it. Satoshi loves heroes, even if his quirk won’t make him one, too. But when he gets to see Deku fight for the first time, an impossibly tall, thin blonde man challenges that in the best possible way.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/30878669
Nothing Could Be More Worthwhile
A villain shows All Might a vision of Izuku. Bloodied. Broken. Fading. Was that some future that would come to pass? Toshinori needs to do everything in his power to make sure it isn't.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/31862209
To Answer Your Question
Izuku Midoriya has spent years contemplating the gravity-defying nature of All Might's bangs. How in the world do they stay up like that? It may not be the most unbelievable thing about the pro hero, but it still defies all logic. So, when Izuku has the opportunity to study the real thing up close, he won't pass it up.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/31754695
A Good Conversation
Izuku had been in his dorm room for hours, and no one knew why he wouldn’t come out. His friends and classmates tried to find out what was wrong, but with no luck.
Eventually, they realized that sometimes a kid just needs their dad.
Toshinori hadn't seen his boy for most of the day, so he didn't know what was wrong, either. But whether Izuku wanted to talk or not, Toshinori could be there for him now.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/31909954
Can I Tell You A Secret?
Izuku is acting strangely after his surgery during the Sports Festival, and All Might is the first to notice. Turns out, it's just pain meds.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/32797495
Hundreds of Things
Toshinori cursed the snow that fell in large, soft chunks outside. Most would call it beautiful. In another life, he would have called it beautiful, too. But now, his frail body couldn’t keep up with the chill.
Then, a cup of tea was placed in his hands.

Shoutout to Project Hail Mary for being the only media where the unconscious protagonist is dragged off screen by an alien spider monster and the audience's reaction is heartbreak on behalf of the alien spider monster.
This was on a post about how it's ignorant and privileged to wear headphones in public and I fear its already become a part of my vocabulary. Must everything harbor a moral failure.
answered the phone at work and the customer asked "are you a real person" and I said "that's kind of a big question" and then there was a really awkward pause and then I said yes

I think fandom analysis on the whole would be a lot more fun and interesting if it took the sort of attitude a great many of my lit professors did, and the idea was to look at the text, see what you think it's saying, or even COULD be saying, and let's fuck around with that idea. I got four years of hearing insane takes on stuff and I was extremely fortunate to go a school with small enough class sizes and a dedicated enough faculty that in many respects, wild theorizing was encouraged.
One of my professors was straight up like "I don't want you reading papers about this book until we finish it!" and we had writing things for the first 20 minutes of every class because he wanted to know what WE thought, not what we had become convinced was THE thing to think.
When I was in my second year of college, I spiraled out into this whole "Jane Eyre is a lesbian!" thing, and my professor (not the same guy as above but delightfully insane in her own right) was like, "Wow, I've never heard this from anyone," and instead of being like, "um this is not what has been agreed upon by everyone else" went "Tell me more." Now, as a forty year old woman who has never stopped engaging with stories on both an enjoyment and academic level, the paper I would write with age and distance would be more "Homosociality, desire, and the domesticated male in Jane Eyre" or something like that, nineteen year old me was a little reductive and simple, but same vibes.
But my professor did not think I was right, she thought I was being INTERESTING, and so she encouraged me and championed me to write that paper and I actually presented it at the student division of a conference! The cool thing about that was, that when I was defending it, I was having to think about it, but it was in the spirit of collaboration, it felt like. No one was trying to 'win' the conversation.
Doc, what the fuck are you--I saw a really interesting thing this morning, someone talking about Shrek, of all things, and how they thought it was about how you cannot turn an ogre into a man, but he can make you become an ogre. And I immediately went, "Wow! Okay, interesting, not how I read that at all, TELL ME MORE." It was really jarring for me, then, to see pretty much every comment be like, 'uh you are wrong and also stupid." Sure, maybe that's not the intention of the work, but I don't for one goddamn motherfucking second think Charlie Bronte was sitting down going "I am going to write a woman so gay..." nor do I think the read of her as same sex-attracted is the end all be all of interpretations. It's mine, for sure! But like...talking about stories is supposed to be fun and it's supposed to be about possibility.
That one post got me thinking about how we are, in fandom often all looking at this same text, and there's immense pressure to have a 'right' interpretation--I was at the nexus of so many Sailor Moon fandom wars, and while I got into a few tussles, I was also stupid to do that. This characters are not real, and I was shutting down POSSIBILITY. And even after I was like, 'Wow, I don't think this is actually a very fun way to do stuff" it turns out you can't magically give everyone the same revelation you have simultaneously. Which is upsetting. And I see these same patterns repeat over and over and over again.
In my old age, I'm less interested in he "He would not say that" and more interested in "Cool, tell me why he would say that?"
Don't misunderstand me, there are points of view and ideas on different texts where I'm like, "Hm. I don't care to engage with that." Remember that the window we're looking out of is as important as what we're looking at, and will DOUBTLESS change the appearance. But the whole reason we have each other is to try and find other windows! It's not actually to find someone who is the next pane of glass in your same window. I miss that environment, where you could trust that everyone coming to the table was engaging with the same ground rules and that there was an expectation of, detachment doesn't quite get to the heart of what I'm talking about, but we were expected not to take the text or the analysis of it personally, even when it was hard. And sometimes it was. But I think it led to me having--for example it's crazy to me to have one 'right read' on any given text. I had a SUPER FUCKING ANIMATED conversation with a fellow lit nerd about whether or not GdT's Frankenstein was emotionally faithful to the text (which is not the same as being literally faithful nor the same as being good)and it was so fun, EVEN THOUGH we were coming at it completely opposed. But it was so fucking fun.
I wish I could do that with anime and cartoons, but you can't. People take Shrek personally. So I'll never have that same fun.
ANYWAY SORRY I AM DRINKING COFFEE AND MY DAUGHTER ISN'T HERE I HAVE TOO MUCH FREE TIME.
"is it very upsetting?" is something that can be so personal. Like it actually makes me choke up. we see shane asking clarifying questions all throughout this season. here, he wants to understand and get the best grip he can on the situation and ilya's feelings. he wants to understand where the person he cares about is coming from. we know shane's family dynamic is Very different. he is an only child with two living parents, he is not russian, he is learning all this contextual shit on the fly, and he cares so SO fucking much. its no longer horny teenage curiosity, the thrill of doing something forbidden, whatever they started as. "have you talked to your brother lately?" "mm-mm." "is that a good thing?" do you miss your brother? are you lonely? do you miss russia? do you want to talk to him again? are you feeling conflicted about it? i care. im here. i love you so much it kills me. UGH!!!!! and the biggest elephant in the fucking room during the fireside scene: am i hurting you? is this relationship hurting you? was this all a mistake? "do you want that problem to go away?"
Really subtle but important detail I loved was that Golden was actually outside of Rumi's range.
Part of why she can't hit the notes quite right (even in the actual official recording!) isn't just her demon side flaring up, it's that she quite literally cannot sing them. They're outside of her range.
Rumi is an Alto trying to force Soprano notes.
She's trying to be something and someone that she isn't because it's who she believes she's "meant" to be, the "right" and "correct" version.
You can hear the strain on her voice. The notes aren't clear. They aren't strong. They squeak and whine. They're blocked in her own throat.
You can hear the difference within the song itself, she's much more comfortable in her lower register.
But What it Sounds Like isn't that.
It's all lower register. It's beautiful and strong and powerful because she's accepted herself completely, including her own limitations.
This is her voice without the lies and it's written into the very music itself.

i don’t think you understand, the most compelling part of shane hollander’s autism and how husdom williams portrays him is that he doesn’t know!
there is such a specific experience of having low-support needs and therefore going undiagnosed, especially within a highly specialized field, especially in a hypermasculine space.
everyone else, especially Ilya, is, to some degree or another, preforming a idea of masculinity, of what it means to Be A Hockey Player. they are themselves but a heightened version and when the game ends, they are able to leave the act behind.
but for shane, he IS that persona. his identity is Hockey Player. and you can tell!!! on the ice, hudson changes how shane carries himself and how much more visually he emotes. he’s put down all the work of navigating social dynamics and monitoring how others perceive him (which mind you, he doesn’t know he’s even doing)!! and that’s part of what makes him so good at hockey!! not that hockey is his special interest but because he’s wicked smart and clever and he’s not worrying about all this other shit anymore.
there is no way in hell that man would be emotionally literate enough to identify that feeling or even articulate that his every day feels like a performance and the performance feels real but i think hudson williams do such a fantastic job of letting shane wrestle with that cognitive dissonance.
