Also a bit of ramblings about my employees while I can! Two of them are connected to the abnormalities they are dipicted with, and two are not as much.
SO!
London - the one with Melting love! She is my fauvoritemonsterlover. She loves all the abnormalities and shares a special connection with them. She understands that she cannot build a proper relationship with them, all their unchanging nature od monster and all, but can't help herself and still reaches out to them. She is the dedicated Melting Love worker at the facility, and thus spends a lot of time with her and not with others. Though she meets all the requerments to not spread the diseese, Melting love is ultimately what dooms her - when she escapes, London dies in every timeline.
Joshua is.... Joshua. He is not the best worker even if he has all the potential to become one. He is lazy, and just want to eat good, sleep long and chill. So when he is asigned to seemingly most boring tast of "sit and watch lights go on, ppick up a ticket and repeat" he is happy, but messes up multiple times. He is incredibly lucky tho, so all consiquences that he gets are yelling from others that he scared them to death. Noone dies because of that.
Two others are Malva running away from the bird, and Lewis sleeping with the bird. But both were picked out of "would look pretty next to abno" so don't have a deeper story to it XD

I had planned this comic for quite sometime now, since the start of June actually, but now I can say I'm done with this little project of mine. I also wanted to at least contribute to the fandom and since I can't frickin animate (looking at my hands in misery) I decided the next best thing, comics!
It was inspired by many things and yes it was based off of What is Love? by Twice the K-pop idol group. I based Derek from two characters ( three as a honorary member I guess) but this rant would've been three times longer than it should be so I won't get into detail.
Derek, in my opinion, is someone who is curious about the littlest things ever since he was a child, his drive to know more about the world is pretty evident across SFAWTDE, even if it's just surface level considering we don't really know his thought process that much (Compared to Avery that is) .
Which is his strongest strength but also what lead to his own downfall, his own selflessness and his care for both the Avery and the world is what kept him going in DAWTDE. I believe that D3rlord3 could turn against Avery, he is smart enough to understand that he is powerless against the King as Derek had many chances to work with him (across those days and months stuck to his computer), but he didn't because if Derek did then he might as well betraying his own beliefs.
Okay I'm getting a bit sidetracked here 🥲🥲
This comic is me trying to explore Derek a bit more as a character, since love is a general topic that I think anyone can understand (I won't go into detail here).
And I am also just a sucker for characters who are smart but dumb at the same time when it comes to their own affections and feelings. ( I drink it like how Derek drinks his smoothies 😏😏😏)
I am aware that many people portrayed D3rlord3 as someone who had accepted that he is in love with Avery right from the beginning of his demise, but I personally wanted to twist it a bit. Which comes to my main theme of this comic;
"What if he realized his feelings a tad bit too late?"
Derek is someone who puts others first as we can tell from bits and pieces sprinkled across DAWTDE and at the end of SFAWTDE where even as his mind is deteriorating by the second he still made the effort to at least warn Avery. Which I concluded (and most people before me had also) that Derek doesn't care for himself that much but he cares for others and that is what matters to him the most.
I think that's all from me, I've kept you here way too long. I had fun drawing each of the panels, heck I don't care if it flops.
But if you want to hear me rant more on my thoughts of this comic or just Derek in general, my asks are always open. I'll answer them to the best of my capabilities. 😋😋

Many people in the comments are saying “trauma”, but this is actually a very normal occurrence. It’s called Childhood Amnesia, and it’s a process which, as the brain reorganizes itself for cognitive thought that is developed in late childhood, it changes the Accessibility of those memories during recall. Many childhood memories are available to the person, but they will not be remembered during regular recall activity, you have to “trick” your brain into remembering with different tactics.
This is because there are two parts to memories - their encoding and their recall. The encoding determines their availability, their recall determines their accessibility. The reason why trauma memory and childhood amnesia are different is in this distinction. Trauma memory is often encoded differently, bypassing to the limbic system where it is stored as intrinsic memory. It can’t be recalled because it was never encoded. Childhood amnesia, however, seems to indicate that the memories are encoded, but we lose access to them as we age. This is most likely due to the development of brain structures that fundamentally change our encoding and recall of memory as we get older.
This is an important distinction, because trauma memory is “stored in the body”, i.e. you get triggers that send your body into a cascade of uncontrollable feelings, sensations and reactions. Whereas childhood memories won’t generally do that, they are just recalled at odd times with odd associations.
