"shipping and blorbofication are not inherently at odds with understanding a story's deep themes" and "some people can't grasp the themes of a story because they never learned how to engage with stories outside of the lens of shipping and blorbofication" are two statements that can coexist
blorbofication to me is when you love a character in such a laser focus way that you somewhat detach them from the narrative from which they are inserted and treat them in a way roughly similar to how you'd treat an oc for which you still have no story and just like to put them in situations just for fun. which there's nothing wrong with btw, it's just that it can easily lead to people forgetting the character engine in a narrative and not just a barbie doll
Looks at my body of work like. Hey holy shit I made 20 visual novels so far. Yes 85% of them are micro VNs and one is a demo, but being able to complete and publish any of them is actually p dang incredible.
I feel like there’s literally no stronger swear word than when a girl in bonnet in a movie says something like, “But Lady Snapplecap says I cannot until I come of age!” and a dude wearing pants tucked into his boots and an open shirt replies, “DAMN Lady Snapplecap!” with the force of 435 F-bombs
For Neo-Twiny Jam 2026, I decided on making a small trilogy of visual novels about perspectives on a person at different parts of life. Each of the games in the POV Trilogy are 500 words each and do not need to be played in a specific order.
"A long time ago, I fell in love with a girl: you. I fell so hard for you that I still think about you years after anybody last saw you."
Preserved is a 500 word reflection made in Decker.
"I hate looking at you. I hate knowing you exist."
Obstinate is a 500 word anger made in Godot using Dialogic 2.
"It doesn't take me long to find him. It was, after all, the place I kept finding him at even before we started dating."
Verity is a 500 word ending made in Light.vn (Windows) and Ren'Py (Linux and Mac).
The trilogy became an excuse for me to explore other visual novel engines, and I'll detail my notes and ups and downs with each one I used in a postmortem I'll post eventually~ I wish I had a bit more free time to iron out the quirks and ui details but that will have to come later.
Special thanks to all my beta readers and testers who helped me figure out what direction I wanted to go in! Thank y'all so much, seriously. And to some of you who had to watch me go through exporting hell, I'm so sorry lmao

i don't really want to weight in on the "using big words in your writing is ableist" discourse happening on tiktok because i'm like 90% certain it's an anti-intellectual psyop to stir up drama in online circles to promote the use of ai to summarize literally everything and thus feeding the LLMs and lowering the populace's mistrust of such tools but i also have to say: dictionaries and thesauruses are the most accessible they've ever been. if you use an e-reader of any kind you can look up a word without leaving the page. there's a plethora of online dictionaries and if you just type a word + "meaning" into google it'll usually give you a definition. we used to have pocket dictionaries we used when reading in class. i have two on my shelf right now that i used in high school. stop letting the fascists purposefully misuse anti-ableism rhetoric to trick you into never thinking again.
okay im gonna go fuckin eat and finally play some deltarune to offset the anxiety of releasing those games lmao

I'm gonna go ahead and say it, but other open-source VN engines could do the funniest thing right now and improve their export features to steal long-time users... just a hint lol
Earlier this month when getting started in different vn engines: "Oh these are fun and interesting to work in! It's gonna be neat to see them finished!"
Later in the month while trying to test and export them all:
Yup unfortunately. Even TyranoBuilder only exports exclusively based on what your local OS is.
Re your tags: I've only used tyranobuilder once many years ago and hated it, but i didnt know its also limited in its exports orz.
And i wish I could use version 7 but I've been doing some testing to see if I can port my games to it and all my games crash bc of all the accessibulity plug-ins I use are incompatible so im stuck with 8.2 🥲
