Kill La Killing My Brain

Alright. It’s been a few months since I dropped the Pipebomb episode, and while I do like that post, it is quite negative and harsh in it's tone. So I'd like to clear somethings up.

First of all, the post is a clear spoof on CM Punk’s infamous Pipebomb promo that he dropped in 2011. I have always been a fan of this promo, and CM Punk in general. I felt as if the anger displayed in said promo would be a good format to go off of to vent my frustrations with the Kill La Kill fandom. However, the bitterness of Punk’s promo and the bitterness of my post are not nearly the same. It doesn't help that the ratio of Kill La Kill fans who are also Pro Wrestling fans is practically non-existent, so the execution sort of fell flat. I wasn’t trying to personally attack anybody, but my issues still stand.

I have largely left the Kill La Kill fandom. The growing frustrations I had with the fandom were making me extremely negative, and was making it harder for me to enjoy my favorite show, and I didn't want the fandom to get to my head like that, because truthfully, that is pointless.

However, any time I HAVE checked in on the fandom, all the problems I had are still there. That sucks. I didn't expect my post to have some profound impact on the fanbase that would make everybody change their ways and appreciate the series the way I do. That is completely unrealistic. Would I like it that way? Yea. I would like for more people to have a deeper understanding of the series other than making surface level observations about it, but everybody thinks differently.

I will stand my ground on 2 things however.

Please appreciate the other characters. @cosmicthebrownie has done many appreciation posts about several of the characters outside of the main 4 people already talk about, and I think those posts, and by large those characters, deserve more love! Especially Sanageyama.

Stop drawing porn of these characters. Not to beat a dead horse but you clearly understood nothing about this show if your main takeaway was "huhuhuhuh sexy girls in sexy outfits." You're stupid.

It's truly whatever, everybody has their own ways of enjoying their favorite series, and not everybody is going to enjoy it the same way. The initial pipebomb post was very harsh, and sort of targeted at specific people I have seen around on here and on twitter, which I do regret. I was just venting my frustrations and took it out in the wrong way.

That's really all I have to say other than the fact that I am semi-retired from this blog and tumblr in general. I sort of ran out of ideas for posts, especially since I've started to branch out to other anime series like Death Note and Hunter x Hunter. Speaking of which, did you know that Ryuko's American VA is the same VA for Gon in HxH's dub? Pretty cool. Where was I? Oh yeah.

Kill La Kill fans, as you sit there in your chair hopefully in a very uncomfortable position. I want you to listen to me, because I have a lot of things I want to get off my chest.

I know I can be fairly negative on this blog, but I don’t hate Kill La Kill. I love this show, I like it a hell of a lot more than a lot of other anime’s Ive seen. But I hate this idea, this babying idea that everybody seems to have about the show. So many of you perceive this show as nothing more than a yuri love story. When it’s not. That is not the point of the show. How you can watch this series the entire way through and not pick up on the anti-fascism, anti-over sexualization, and pro-loving yourself messages is beyond me. If your take away from this series is that it’s a love story, you are DEAD wrong.

The fact that you can watch this series, and see the overly sexualized outfits, watch the despicable actions of Ragyo and Nui, and yet STILL draw and repost porn of these characters makes me SICK TO MY STOMACH. This specific kind of fan is a braindead monkey who lacks media literacy, and truthfully I think that if you enjoy porn of these characters that you have no brain up in your skull.

The story of this show is a beauty. An absolute marvel of writing about learning to love yourself and your body despite your trauma, whether it be sexual or mental. This is a show about adversity and never giving up, and yet no matter how many times I say it, you all just want to post wholesome lesbian art. Trust me this isn’t sour grapes, but the fact that a simple sketch of RyuMako will get more notes than ANY of my posts proves to me that none of you have truly thought about the show that you watched. With how some of you talk about this series, I believe that you watched this show with a blindfold on.

And let me get this straight, not all of you are bad. In fact I think quite a few of you are nice, and actually understand what this series stands for. Follow @cosmicthebrownie if you ever want to genuinely speak about this show because they seem to be the only person I’ve ever had an actual discussion with about this shows story.

This shows fanbase has dwindled and dwindled every single year since it went off the air, and it sucks because despite only having 1 season and a video game, more people need to see this show. But when you pigeonhole the franchise and dumb down and baby the characters into something they aren’t, this is the reason why Trigger has given up on producing any sort of new content for the series. This is why there’s no merch of The Elite 4, or Nudist Beach. This is why IF was abandoned the same year it came out, and there are no signs pointing towards a sequel on the horizon. This is why, despite everything, the franchise has been seen by less and less people.

This shows fandom should thrive off of the amazing writing, the beautiful story telling, the absolutely wonderful artwork and animation. But the damage is done, and not to get all doom and gloom, but this is why we will most likely never see anything original out of the series ever again. Because time and time again it has been proven that the “fans” of this show simply do not care about it. Rewatch this show, watch it with a more open mind. Write a short analysis of every episode once it’s finished so you can have a deeper thought other than “YURI!! YURI!!! LESBIANS!!!” because Trigger Studios themselves have said that there is no romance in the show, and yet here we are in 2026. With that being the main thing the show is known for.

I have had this on my mind since I first watched Kill La Kill 4 years ago. I appreciate the art of this show so much, it is so beautiful to look at. But something that has always bothered me is the color of Senketsu.

Why the hell isn’t Senketsu green? Green is an infinitely better color than navy blue. Everybody knows that already. Seems like such a baffling choice not to have Senketsu be green.

I mean bro, he just looks soooooo tuff with this color scheme.

Hell just look at how hard Ryuko with green Senketsu…goes…

Did you know that it is okay to post about more than 4 characters? I know we all love Ryuko, Mako, Satsuki, and Nonon, but this show does have more characters. It is completely okay for you to post and talk about these other characters, they do exist.
