so this album was also recorded in 6 months. Janet wrote all the lyrics on the album and titled it Janet PERIOD to silence critics who thought she was still riding the coattails of Michael. She signed a $40 million contract with Virgin Records which was THEE highest recording contract in history at the time. This album is broad with its genre influences but is mostly R&B and I read multiple times it cut the “industrial” sound of past albums and I never thought of her music that way but now that I see that word I’m like yeah it kinda was.

So I’ve only heard 2 songs from this one: That’s The Way Love Goes and If. This is apparently not as well regarded as Control or Rhythm Nation.
