I work with kids and sometimes we have to do safety lessons with them about like, not telling strangers on the internet your home address or something. And sometimes the kids wont understand why, so you have to impart upon them that, well, some adults want to hurt children. And thats kind of difficult to do, because you have to beat around the bush, both because you dont want to scare them (while still making them understand how serious it is) and because you might lose your job if you explain it too straight forward.
Luckily, for some reason, the villain of one of the most popular franchises with children for the last 10 years happens to be a serial child murderer. So when a kid asks why they shouldnt trust strangers, instead of hand wringing and humhawing my answer out, I can just say "we dont always know when a strange adult has good intentions with children, or when they are William Afton."

The hiking bag he carries around is a birthday gift from his mom that he never had the chance to properly use, until now
His blanket over the bag was originally just so he had something to keep him warm or dry in emergency, but he found itās useful for deterring less sane Infecteds who may catch the wolf eyes on the blanket staring back at them (think like the adaption of developing false eye spots)
His mom lives in different city and probably couldnāt visit anyway due to the quarantine on Subrosa, so sheās safe
He has developed scent glands at this point which makes him easier to both find and avoid (he doesnāt know this yet)
In attempts to maintain some control over his body, Volks cuts his body hair as short as he can safely manage whenever he gets the chance. His hairās always kinda choppy and unkempt because of this
While the infection mostly affects the hands last, the unruly body hair growth forced Volks to take a break from any kind of modeling. This ultimately led to him losing his job right before the discovery of the disease was officially announced

When you yumeship a lot, I think it's hard to miss the patterns in f/o's that you gravitate towards.
One thing that shows up for me very consistently, in both familial and romantic fictional others, is intense loyalty. In a dad, I am clearly often drawn to stability and action as care. In romantic partners, I like authenticity, emotional honesty, and loud commitment.
I find them very interesting to notice in others as well. There's definitely a psychological factor behind the patterns, whether that be positive, negative, or simply neutral.
