i don't know about this topic a lot, so forgive and correct me if i'm wrong. i don't claim that it's canon, just my view of the character

that scene in episode 9 when Pomni enters Jax's mind reminded me of experiences that some systems have. they have a space, multiple people that play their respective roles and they hide the host's painful memories or thoughts. people say it just shows his relationship with people, how he would act if they were gone, but to change his whole self accordingly to the death of each one or take their places instead? does everybody do it?

to me, he seems to dissociate a lot. when Pomni sees his memories, they are often interrupted. i know it's because abstraction corrupts them, but it seemed to me as a metaphor for forgetting your past and only remembering very important memories. when he was telling his story to Ribbit, the camera POV shifts from him, and that also reminded me of dissociation, like you're not there, out of your body, spectating from the side. i had dissociation and derealization so it even reminded me of my own experience with it. dissosiation, derealization, amnesia are all symptoms of it.

in earlier episodes when he is too stressed or when someone tries to figure him out, like in a fight with Pomni, he switches his roles. sometimes he feels like he should be the funny one, sometimes the sarcastic one, sometimes the scared, serious one and etc. the changes can be subtle as in real DID/plurality.
