i like a character who follows all of the rules their whole life and then ends up with big fucking nothing except their own self righteous #coping because the rules arent actually good for them or for anybody else

what’s especially good is when following #therules is the most immediately reasonable or pragmatic option; when consequences for disobedience are swift and severe on a basically existential level; or when thecharacter perceives the rules as essentially inviolable because of constant inescapable reinforcement/disciplining/divine will if there’s godwizards, and cannot imagine behaving outside of them; etc. But she still takes pride in her active compliance and genuinely expects to be rewarded because what else is there. in a way the only real choice she’s making is to wholeheartedly buy into the choices being imposed upon her. coping all the way down and yea shes a girl #posttwist

my hot eclipse take is that I think akk and ayan break up at some point. I'm sorry for my truth but I like the idea of a healthy high school relationship ending and leading to future healthy relationships for both of them

thinking more on this. in my ideal scenario their relationship comes to a natural end while they're in college. maybe things are kind of weird at first but they stay friends. they date around, have flings, do dumb college kid shit. then akk moves abroad for grad school because I do think they would get back together otherwise. with this more definite separation they actually date other people more seriously than they had in college. not that they weren't serious about those relationships but now they're Grown Up serious and akk tells aye he might propose to his partner. and aye is happy for him. of course. but akk wants to move back to thailand and his partner doesnt so he comes back alone. and aye's mom says oh good, i always hoped you two would get back together. just because he's coming back doesn't mean we're getting back together, mom. of course not, of course. but as soon as aye picks akk up at the airport there's something in the air between them that hasn't really been there in years.

maybe nothing better than your fave who is a liarrrrr having the most miserable time of their life. deciding the truth is worse than whatever respite they might get from showing where they’re soft and vulnerable and committing to it. And then of course having something carve it out of them anyway like godddd what if you gave the most important performance of your life and it didn’t even save you. what then! what then!!!!!

They would not go on cute dates and raise children, they would punch each other in the throat and have bad sex on the couch.

trope i really like is self-loathing characters desperate for the catharsis of punishment for frankly rather selfish reasons who r also obsessed with repeatedly pressing others into hating them and hurting them as essentially a method of self harm. yes baby continue making it worse for urself and everybody around u instead of doing an actually productive and effective journey of improvement and redemption
