i finished s2 of space goofs last night so ive seen about all of it!!! (s1 review post with s2 first impressions)
- i think i liked s2 overall more than s1 (though its pretty close)! i feel like a lot of that can be attributed to much more consistent animation quality. i never noticed how jank s1 was until looking back at it while being very familiar with s2 LOL. i feel like the characterisations are noticeably stronger here too. also just. a lot of really good episodes in general
- HOWEVER we DID entirely skip a couple segments in s2 (macho kung fu and buffalo blues cuz they seemed to just be racism the whole time. but i dunno what happens here), and theres another one i also wanna skip on a rewatch, so technically its worse than s1 in that respect? where id only skip two, and one of the episodes was for personal reasons really. i think either way s2 had such a strong impression on me that offset it anyways
- i do miss stereo : ( he did nothing but yknow. i wish their solution to not having anything to do with stereo was just.. giving him a personality instead of cutting him entirely. he also looks damn weird in s2 whenever he does appear, how does he look so much jankier than he ever did in s1??? why is he so dusty??? it cant be that difficult to draw stereo right??? his voice is also like. fine but i miss that one of them was distinctly squeaky lol theyre just both raspy now
- speaking of voices. i think s1 bud had a better voice but his s2 va improves at it a LOT through the season and honestly does a damn good job for being, apparently, literally The Voice Director who doesnt really do voice acting. i love that candy got noticeably a lot squeakier though!!! i already loved her voice and its just elevated even more by the squeakiness its awesome!!!!!!!!! how the hell does charlie adler do it
- its also fun detecting va overlap in all the non-main characters lol. theres less of them to detect in s2 so its a lot easier here. i like how like. roger literally sounded like gorgious but less gruff for example. also i swear charlie adler voices more women in this series than men, and women are also voiced more by charlie adler than by women LOL
- etno is kind of awesome in s2. i love his design a lot here (which ive been trying to replicate in my art as you can see) and i like that hes also got a more interesting personality, like that hes more pathetic and desperate. his design was so damn jank in s1 in retrospect its so funny. on other characterisation changes, i love gorgious elaborate threats in this. its strange that bud doesnt get a lot to do this season though
- also shoutouts to candy just being treated as a girl a lot more in s2 its pretty cool. in the final episode literally the guy said "man to woman talk" to her. literally, right there, very directly and explicitly referred to as a woman. and theres been a few other instances, like from the knight ugg also, and also a lot in disguises (she disguises as a woman a lot more now too than s1)
- ok but legit the animation is really good here, the backgrounds are really colorful its just fun to look at, i like it a lot. i love that they vary up even the sitting poses a lot
- that was a really funny finale episode lol though the fact that its a clip show kinda dragged
and these were my favorite s2 episodes. honestly theres a lot of really damn good ones here its genuinely hard to narrow them down

finally im glad i can look at the space goofs tag now without fear of spoilers LOL. i hear that theres a spacegoofs discord, i can join that now, i assume its active?
