thought i'd give my two cents but i think anti-straight isnt really a great way of putting it. youre seeing more buzz for polytrix than sajaxhuntrix but i havent really seen anyone go out of their way to put hate on m/f posting the way i've seen people hate on polytrix in the comments of someone's art on other platforms. privately i cant shake the sense that saja anything aside from jinu is a case of people valuing male characters- even cardboard cutout, industry parody men- over well written and subtly complex women characters. i gravitate towards polytrix because theres something of substance to dig into in the first place, and thus a dynamic you can flesh out into romance. i think the not-jinu saja boys have maybe one or two more lines than the rujinu shipper, collectively, and that its kind of ridiculous how people are designing intricate lore backgrounds and a million xreaders off characters already perfectly utilized for what they are. but i wont say ALL THAT to someone who isnt asking about it on the post they made and worked hard on because they liked those things and wanted to have fun with them. tumblr loved jake and amy from b99 and elenor and chidi from the good place and huntwillow from the owl house and jinmao from apothecary diaries. its not anti-straight, biphobic, gender normative, or anti-poly to consider polytrix (which. is also a poly ship, and one that ive never seen specifically LOCK all three in as not attracted to men either) as a stronger, more compelling ship over miromabby or zoestery.
Hey you!! Thanks for the input! Funnily enough it wasn't even the polytrix that got me thinking about all this, it was when I saw a post saying their favorite ship is baby saja/mystery saja and I just. Blanked for a second bc I somehow didn't even consider that a possibility before lol (idek if it's a rarepare or... not, tumblr is wild like that). I actually love that polytrix is so popular because from my experience male/male relationships are waaaaaay more popular in fandom spaces in most cases, and I totally agree with what you said abt male characters being valued over intricate female ones. That's actually why I started being so much into straight ships (depends on what medium ofc) bc I need me women in the focus (women!! Women are great!! I love women!) but f/f is too rare ;; I mostly consume manhwas and Asian web novels and f/f is basically non-existent, while m/m is just dominating the charts TT
I don't know most straight ships you mentioned there, but jinmao was precisely an example I was wondering about where like, I'd ASSUME people would dig the ship, I mean I've seen plenty of it on other social media, but then I started doubting if it's a popular ship on Tumblr too. You seem to be quite well versed with Tumblr! My high-time was like, 2013-2016 so I'm waaaaaay out of the loop, but this helped me put things a bit into perspective!
(I do have to admit tho, as someone who broke off contact with 90% of her family and is all about friends and chosen family, I really resonated with Mira's insecurity and seeing the girls as her family, so I personally don't ship polytrix bc I relate to her and I put chosen family > romance & biological family, BUT! I'm all here for ๐women๐)
