vegans: OUR DIET IS THE SAFEST AND HEALTHIEST AND MEAT IS THE DEVIL HOW DARE YOU EAT A COW
literally every credible doctor and biologist and dietitian:Â
Except not really but sure just keep making shit up
lmao Iâm sorry who are you?
also, as someone who ACTUALLY contributed to the update on the harvard source you listed, we focus our studies on how to safely transition into a vegetarian/vegan diet by using different types of supplements to balance your diet when you canât get it from dairy or meat:
âPeople who follow a vegetarian diet and especially a vegan diet may be at risk of getting insufficient vitamin D and vitamin K, both needed for bone health. Although green leafy vegetables contain some vitamin K, vegans may also need to rely on fortified foods, including some types of soy milk, rice milk, organic orange juice, and breakfast cereals. They may also want to consider taking a vitamin D2 supplement (vitamin D3 comes from animals).â
We are NOT trying to prove that veganism is a better lifestyle, because for people who have no dietary restrictions and have to take supplements by CHOICE, itâs not. but go off I guess.
The âwho are youâ works both ways though, you are stating that you contributed to the source but you are not presenting any proof of it. Not that being an Harvard student or working at Harvard would anyway automatically mean you are right about everything you state, you would still have to back up your statements with scientific sources for them to have credibility, and you didnât provide any stating that plant-based diet are not healthier than diets with animal products.
The citation you are giving is basically saying that a plant-based diet need to be well-planned in order to be healthy, which is the case for every diet, including the ones with animal products. All nutrients can be obtained in sufficient quantities in a plant-based diet, with or without complements (including B12 in nori), according to most health organizations as you can see in the link provided by justanotherveganasshole in the previous answer. So a plant-based diet can be perfectly healthy.
Moreover, there is plenty arguments to be made about a plant-based diet being a healthier diet than a diet with animal products. For example animal products contains dietary cholesterol, which can and often causes arteriosclerosis. Cardiovascular diseases are the first cause of death in western countries so arguing that we shouldnât consume any products containing dietary cholesterol (so animal products) which serves no purpose for human health but causes serious diseases seems appropriate. So since dietary cholesterol is something you wonât get from a plant-based diet, it is an example of why not consuming animal products is healthier for humans.
