i know some people dislike her, rightfully so, but, with the theme of "who would you die for" playing in the forefront with yao's iconic "there is no gene, you just have to find someone to be brave for" quote and grace's fear in the face of death until he finds companionship and true care with rocky, stratt's quiet "what would you let others die for" sits heavy in the background.

she does not like the role she has to play. she genuinely cares for the people around her, genuinely cares for grace, but she cares for humanity more. she cares for earth more. she cares for the people who might never see the sun at its full brightness and she cares for the millions, billions, that will die in the years to come. she is not a villain, she is not a hero, she is probably hated by like half the earth's population because of what project hail mary did to the sahara, but by god, she will always try her damn best to hold the breaking shards of earth together and sit there as they cut open her and her companions hands as she waits and waits for a shot in the dark to finally resound through the dimming light, signalling the beginning of the end of everyone's sacrifices.
