Took me years to understand that boredom is not the enemy of writing. It is the raw material. Every good idea i have ever had arrived during a walk with no podcast, a train with no phone, a shower where i just stood there. The moment i fill every silence with content i stop generating anything of my own. I am just processing other people's thoughts instead of having mine. The empty space is where the work comes from. Protecting the empty space is the actual job.

Kaz absorbs her frenzied words impassively, letting the rattling sounds of the bus fill the silence. Seems like he didnāt even need to go searching for Inejās lever. Sheās perfectly willing to place it right in his hand.
Thisā¦agreement would put Inej firmly in his debt, he realizes. Right where he wants her.
Inej seems to take his silence for a negative. She tries again, her eyes silently pleading. āWe could help each other. Likeālike partners.ā
Kaz hums thoughtfully. āPartners in crime?ā
āExactly,ā Inej says, her eyes lighting up. āWeāll take Professor Haskell for all heās worth.ā
The decision hardly needs to be made at all.
āSure,ā Kaz says, offhandedly, with a casual shrug for good measure. āThe deal is the deal.ā

heyo! i wanted to write a short little "five times"-style fic of kanej sense impressions; somehow this spawned an actual plot and dragged me along for a 50k+ word ride lol. will upload new chapters as regularly as i can!
i do NOT write for myself i write for the eleven year old girl walking circles on the playground making up stories in her head and muttering the dialogue out loud. i see you girl. that stick you found DOES look like a cool dagger.
this. been hacking away at my longest WIP since my tween years and while some (much) of the content i wrote at the very beginning isā¦not great, rereading those chapters is like having a conversation with my younger self (and every new chapter is like sending a message back in time to keep that vision alive)ākind of cool to think this story has been with me through almost every major part of my life
