The famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright's house is named Taliesin West. The sprawling desert complex served as Wright’s personal winter home, studio, and architectural laboratory from 1937 until his death in 1959. 

He liked to make his architecture blend in with his surroundings. He used the shapes of the mountains , (a triangle) in creating Taliesin West.

He famously used local rock, sand, and wood to make his houses.

He had brought these back from China, so he placed them in the walls around his house.

Frank Lloyd Wright believed that homeownership was a fundamental right, and he dedicated his life to designing beautiful, affordable housing that everyday Americans could actually afford to build.

i am literally crying rn over a damn soil delivery. been needing this for the past 3 years and FINALLY finally able to afford it.

i have 3 tall raised beds, 4 beds to top off, and 2 short raised bed to fill, and then so many other places that need not-clay just to grow something.

almost gone... plan is to have the driveway back all the soil distributed by the end of the summer solstice.

Cleistocactus sp.

Ruth received this cactus many years ago under the name Cleistocactus buchtienii, and while it is certainly a Cleistocactus, it does not match photos of that species. It looks more like Cleistocactus tominensis subspecies micropetalus, so I suspect it is that. "Cleistocactus" means "closed cactus", and this refers to the fact that the flowers of many of the species don't have open mouths; this is very evident in the flowers pictured here, where the stigma is enveloped by the petal tips and is barely visible. However, it still manages to get pollinated when a hummingbird forces its bill in to retrieve nectar. Cleistocactus tominensis (and C. buchtienii as well, which has longer flowers and a protruding stigma) comes from central Bolivia.
