Plant of the Day
Sunday 2 August 2026
These small, scented, white, pale greenish flowers are from the marginal plant Anemopsis californica (Apache beads, lizard tail, yerba mansa). This plant needs a permanently moist soil. It will tolerate up to 10cm of water over the crown and will flourish in sun or semi-shade.

Barrister hopes you’re having a safe & peaceful Caturday😻🐈⬛

Look how happy with that find! Damn, it makes me wanna go outside and get me one of those.
Star (starling) im Akademiegarten im Oberen Schlossgarten, Stuttgart-Mitte.
Harvested my first wee broccolini 🌱 The plant only had one so I figured it was best to do it now, before 1) it started flowering, and 2) to encourage more growth. What a cute lil bb 🥹
Went to a new nursery today. My parents were expecting a small nursery in someone's back garden, and it WAS in a residential area around someone's house, but it was HUGE and had so many large trees available.
The prices weren't as amazing as our favourite nursery, but they had some good deals, and this is what I got:
1 yellow jasmine
1 snowdrop
2 begonias (not sure what kind, I think fibrous/wax begonia)
1 bidens
I am VERY excited that I found snowdrops! And the yellow jasmine is so nice and big, I can't wait for the builders to finish fixing the wall so I can plant all my trailing plants again!
So excited about the snowdrops......... they're so cute

how do i grow turmeric?
i have had neither luck with it or ginger or even garlic really. garlic turns out mid and the ginger i planted but died immediately so im scared to try to transplant these...
Looks like you're doing pretty well so far tbh! I'd say rich soil in part to full sun and plenty of moisture. Lift it when the leaves die back in the fall.
oh, so dont transplant out into the raised bed in extreme drought 😬😬😬
hmmm... maybe a big tub with 2 gallon buckets inside and the tub has no drainage????
i'm just now up potting the turmeric babies into 5 gallon pots soooo gonna need to account space for them in the greenhouse this winter 🌱 📝🤔
Once again, exploring the peaceful streets of Alegrete, Upper Alentejo, Portugal. Here, you can still wander without having to share every inch of these streets with a million tourists or more - yes, places like that still exist.
