Something I feel that is really lost in modern isekai anime, is the fact that the main character is supposed to become a much better person, not get their wish fulfillment fantasy. Including Winning everything because they happen to know the game mechanics, and that they are supposed to be a hero to the world , as in fixing it or being a positive influence on it. It’s so weird seeing modern isekai, treat slavery as a accepted norm, and do nothing to change the system other then “being nice to their slave”
You could argue Inuyasha and Red River are both girl wish fulfillment isekai stories too, (won’t deny that) but both main characters do not only grow up trough the manga, braver and mature but they try to fix the problems in said world. Another element that is missing from older isekai, is that the main character is supposed to go back to the real world , (not all of them) but anime like Now and then, here and there, Digimon, Strange Dawn, Monster Rancher, Magic Knight Rayearth etc the characters return back to their home , using their experience to deal reality. Meanwhile I feel modern isekai’s anime message is, it’s best to life in the fantasy world , where you have it better then deal with your real life. Idk if that’s a very good message or just a sign of the times, probably reading too much into it.
The Knuckles paramount show was just one giant fart , it made no impact on the franchise or the fandom, it was boring , unfunny and painful.

Knuckles used to be my favorite Sonic character of all time and he suffered really the most with his spin offs, a bad comic by Ken Penders, a very bad game (sorry I don’t like Knuckes Chaotix) and a horrid tv show

Hey Evan, please don’t have Silver be scared and skittish like Ghosts of the Future in the next arc. Game Silver is a brave, hot-blooded and confrontational warrior that fought demons for half of his life and has a fight response to being surprised in Generations. Not only does he even have a philosophy of valuing being brave but making him look scared and timid directly goes against Silver’s selfless and aggressive character. He shouldn’t have scared expressions.
Hey. You have sent this exact message and messages very similar to it several times. I have already acknowledged the shortcomings in Silver's characterization in the comics before and my intent to do better. I'd like to remind you: -Ghosts of the Future Silver exists in a radically divergent AU, with a different backstory and character arc. That was the point of the story; to take him from a timid, insecure boy to the bold hero we all know. That's why he can't fly, and generally has a weaker grasp on his powers. I have never written official depictions of Silver like him, ever.
-Silver's lighthearted side is a canon aspect of his character, and comes forward when he is in lower-stakes situations. By design, the comics are usually (but not always) depicting lower-stakes moments in the characters' lives.
-All IDW content is checked at multiple levels of SEGA of America and SEGA of Japan, including by Iizuka-san. Their notes can be very specific, and are always applied.
-Sometimes cartoon characters make exaggerated expressions as a joke. For example, Sonic is also a fight-response sort of person, but he'd make the same sort of expression in that situation because he's also comedic character. Out of the main cast, Shadow and Espio spring to mind as the sort of characters who wouldn't react like that, because their lack of reaction would be the joke. I'm not perfect. I'm certain what whatever happens next won't be completely satisfactory, but I hope that it will be an improvement. I think it's a good showcase of Silver's strengths, while not completely abandoning his gentler aspects. Please respect my time and let me cook just a little longer.

I've been seeing lots of cool independent yuri or GL inspired comics for purchase as physical volumes lately, including some only available through today, so I thought I'd highlight some for the Holiday!
Detective Alice: Volume 1 by KyKy Yang
This Edwardian era detective story follows a cat detective encountering her greatest rival (and love) for the first time, right when a new maid has joined her house's staff... Today, February 14th, is the last day this artist's shop is open for the moment (though it's possible this volume, and the shorter accompanying volumes will be available again in the future), so get it here while you can! I watched a brief storyboard project set later in the series a few years ago and thought it was fantastic, so I was really excited to see physical volumes available now! Great art, a fun furry world, and a delightful, mysterious game of cat and mouse (or cat and cat?) between two women!
Stop Falling in Love With Me! by Chu Nap and Hamu Ko
This college-life comedy Yuri is available here with both an all-audience and 18+ options, in physical or PDF! It follows the aimless, unmotivated Seoyun Han, who has to get her act together to figure out her major and support her film club, but who might just get distracted by an encounter with a cute girl. I haven't read from either of these creators before, but I love the cute artstyle and bright colors, plus I'm always looking for more GL set in college :^)
Saints for Girls: Volume 1 by Court Normandin (on here as @/crvptozoology)
Saints for Girls Volume 1, available here via kickstarter, follows the titular lesbian emo band through its inception in the mind of band member Rye Carpenter, and then an initiation done in the band's early stages. The first part of this story was previously released on the Short box comics fair, and has been combined with a second story for physical release here, along with PDF versions. This is definitely less directly yuri-inspired, but looks super cool + I've followed this artist for awhile, so I'm really excited to pick this up! The Kickstarter is ongoing through February 28th.
