Elise's story is largely about her disempowerment so I think it's silly when people complain that she's a bad character because she gets kidnapped. And when she goes from enduring all of that for the sake of her country to declaring that she doesn't care what happens to the world, that's a good character arc for her.
The portal explanation is lackluster but I'm surprised it took the Tailstube episode for people to get mad about it, that retcon was implemented years ago. That wasn't even the first time they showed Silver's time travel portal on screen.
The thing about Silver's namecard is, the design is brilliant!
Silver canonically doesn't care about appearances, aesthetics, fashion, social norms, or how he's perceived, and he's very blunt and straightforward! And beyond that, he's not great with tech, especially modern tech (which is ancient outdated tech to him)! Silver using off-centered default lowercase black font with a cyan aura to represent his psychokinesis powers and putting a low resolution photograph of himself in the corner is extremely good characterization for Silver! It fits him! It communicates a lot of things about Silver very well in a very efficient way!
But having Silver misspell his own name is... Hm. Um. It's obviously supposed to mean something. It was an intentional choice.
It might have either been a "he's bad at tech" or "he's unintelligent" visual gag. And I honestly think it's the former, in which case, the Tailstube card is excellent characterization all about! Future tech would be streamlined enough that the typo makes sense!
But to be blunt, the fandom either took it as "Awww of course Silver's such a cute stupid baby chud, makes sense considering where he came from /affectionate" or "HAH the lameass white trash can't even spell his own name, another L for that dumb fraud /slander". That's what it usually means when a character misspells their own name, it's a usually narrative shorthand to say that they're unintelligent and uneducated.
And that's... uncomfortable. Especially in the absence of anything in English Sonic media that even tries to portray that Silver is incredibly booksmart. Because Silver worked very hard to be booksmart and loves books. Because Silver found inspiration in books while he was wallowing in a poor desolate war-torn wasteland where he had nothing. And a lot of people who don't read Sonic Channel reasonably assume that Silver is barely literate at all with the material they have on hand. It's tantamount to the Boom Knuckles treatment, except where Knuckles is mischaracterized as a musclehead, Silver is mischaracterized as an infant.
But I think it's because the fanon is weird and infantilizing about Silver and his background. I don't think canon is following that. IDW admittedly dumbs Silver down (the Mimic arc comes to mind), but it hasn't done it in that way.

Honestly, I feel like fandoms are distorting people's lens of real life queer struggles to an extent and what is/isn't oppression. Some people think that since they enjoy a het ship that they are oppressed by queer shippers. Like ofc people who ship queer ships (or ig rival ships in general) can be very rude, like sonadow shippers being mean to sonamy shippers isn't an absurd idea, but to think of it on the same level of oppression is willlldddd. Y'know its illegal no where to be straight, right? You know if you actually spoke to queer people in person (especially older queer people), you'd understand actual oppression right? Someone being mean to you on the internet isn't oppression (tho I'm sorry they were rude).
most people don’t understand silver’s character. it’s because sega america mischaracterizes him and others with bad localization. the west needs to get tf out of sonic.
Tails has gone through the exact same character development with the exact same peptalks so many times now. If they want him to be a static character like Sonic that's fine, but it feels silly to do this same song and dance gesturing towards internal growth that never gets delivered on.
no hate to anyone but when the first thing I hear about a new IDW Sonic issue besides it releasing is Sonamy my interest in catching up with the comic slightly decreases
like I'm srry but I haven't been caught up with the sonic comics recently & it feels odd to me when the first thing I hear about it (besides the fact it's out) are mentions of a ship I don't like/care about
again no hate but I think sonamy has act ruined my perspective on these 2 characters whenever they're both on screen

Me, looking through the newest event pass for Sonic Rumble Party: "Wow, I can't believe they've added Gummigoo from The Amazing Digital Circus to this game. The crossovers are really out of control."
Tangle and Whisper had plenty reason to stop respecting and trusting Lanolin.
They extended her an open hand and trust and respect when they asked her to not only join up on their team but to lead it. She did not reciprocate either. She told Whisper that she was unreliable and unprofessional because her trauma made her account and her emotions worth dismissing, and she escalated that encounter and refused to take into consideration what made Whisper freak out. When Duo was badtalking Tangle and Whisper, Lanolin just silently agreed and visibly got aggressive. She dismissed them and looked down on them.
They were never friends, but even as teammates, Lanolin burned that bridge and ruined that relationship herself. I don't understand people who attack Tangle and Whisper for not trusting Lanolin anymore. Lanolin proved they were right to do so when she reacted aggressively to Amy getting injured on tampered gear and was willing to ignore civilian casualties because punishing Sonic apparently took priority. Tangle deferred to Lanolin time after time out of respect for her authority even when Lanolin hurt or dismissed people who Tangle cared about on a personal level, so it was perfectly reasonable for Tangle to draw a line and say enough was enough at some point.
Lanolin was always annoyed at Tangle. I think it'll be interesting that now Tangle also feels annoyed at Lanolin. They'll probably have them suddenly drop the earned hostilities, but I think it'd be an interesting dynamic for those two to just tolerate each other in any interactions going forward.

Shadow doesn't know Eggman's name. He just thinks his name is "Eggman Robotnik" or some shit. Like that's what it says on his birth certificate. He never ACTUALLY hears the name ivo (in sa2 at least) and probably just thinks naming conventions got really weird while he frozen.
i say nothing about it, but i really do find movie sonic such an ugly loser and that is literally such a stupid thing to say but like i just can't get behind a sonic who is pathologically uncool. sonic can be a lot of things, but that just ain't it, thats no sonic its a oocnic. it's the wrongest sonic has ever been, has a completely different energy even than the depths of archies identity crisis, even feels more out of whack than boom since at least boom sonic was sometimes funny. and yes i know he has a different backstory, im not saying he doesn't make sense for the background they gave him. im saying that its a bad backstory and they were stupid decisions to make lol.
