Sometimes someone will come here and hate on something I absolutely love but I can't even be mad about it, I just appreciate the guts of someone saying something cursed for once
i generally have lukewarm feelings towards the ship, but the one shadamy dynamic i can really get behind is shadow being the "loves women who can kick his ass" type, and amy being the "if you don't cheer for my stupid emo husband i will blow this whole building up" type.
one must not forget that amy is categorically more bloodthirsty than shadow, she is just better at hiding it ☝️
i like shadouge but i wish more people portrayed them as friends with benefits instead of a fully romantic couple. they have their moments ofc but i feel like that dynamic just fits them better. something something shadow coping with sexual repression idk im bad at articulating my thoughts sorry 😓

...maybe that’s why I care a little too much
Real answer: I like seeing the character I love act how he did in my favorite pieces of media rather than fall rigidly into generic tropes. (i.e. hyperactive speedster whose mind is always moving a million miles a minute and needs constant stimulation because the normal world is too slow and boring.) The current adaptations have new fans believing things like Sonic wouldn't have the patience to read to a book, can't sit still or just relax, which are all things he's been shown to enjoy. Honestly it makes finding fics I like quite hard.
I can still like an adaptation that tweaks the character, but would find it more enjoyable if stayed closer to the personality I grew up with rather than reinventing the wheel and convincing a new wave of fans that this is the "true Sonic" whom will then yell at me for not liking it.
Shipping Metal Sonic and Silver with anyone is actually problematic medias since Metal was made when Sonic was a teen so he's actually only a 2 year old baby, and Silver hasn't been born yet so he's infinitely younger than everyone so the age gap is problematic medias

Not sure if this will be a hot take but, I think 06 flopping is a good thing. Yes it ruined STH rep and by extension SEGA's but SEGA were pumping out games at an alarming rate at this point in time so this was bound to happen sooner or later and it was good it happened to a game that already felt out of place for a sonic game because of it's art style and romance story with Sonic.
Only thing that truly sucks is SEGA didn't learn the important lesson of not rushing dev time, too many broken games came out after 06 like Boom rise of lyric and the Sonic Colors re-release.
I want to start a Sonic discussion blog inspired by other gimmick blogs but I feel like something like this already exists.
Like a leading question of “how do you interpret [insert ship dynamic]” or “is [insert character] an extrovert, introvert, etc and why” (the last one is inspired by a poll I sent to polling Sonic fans)
