You and Sugawara Koushi have been RAs at your university for the last three years. Though itâs easy to say that the two of you have never gotten along well. Follow the course of your senior year at Miyagi University.

Your friend group sat in the library. You were hand in hand with Natsuo, your free hand grabbing the fabric of his jacket as you laughed at a remark that Kouji passed onto Megumi. Making fun of how her shoes never matched her clothes.Â
âDonât deny the truth!â Koushi laughed, ruffling her hair.
âListen, just because Iâm wearing a white shirt doesnât mean that black boots donât match! Iâm gonna get Daichi to run you over with his car if you all keep acting up!â
âHomicide I hear?â Daichi pulled a chair out beside you, joining in on the laughter.
âYou, me, death at-â Koushi used his finger to tap his phone on the table, â12:01 am. I have a discussion board due at midnight.â He winked at his best friend.
âIf Iâm going to kill you, why does your homework matter?â Daichi began to pull his books and placed them onto the table.Â
âTaki Sensei will kill Y/N and I over and over in our graves for not turning in our faux lesson plans, duh.â
Leaning forward you placed your hand on the table and laughed with Sugawara.Â
âHeâs absolutely bizarre. I feel like Iâll drop before I can get a passing grade!â You were pulled back to your boyfriendâs side and he stifled a laugh. âIf you work hard youâll get the grades to pass.â You met Natsuoâs eyes before he gave a half smile to Sugawara behind you. The smile on your face slightly dropped as you sank back in your chair.
-
Sugawara walked on the ledge of bricks beside you. Lifting his arms on either side to balance, he teetered from side to side. You slid your hands in your jacket pockets and laughed as he hung one foot off of the drop.Â
âDid you finish everything last night?â Sugawara asked, raising his foot back on the ledge he continued to place one foot in front of the other.
âCouldnât. Natsuo wanted me to help him with his project.âÂ
âIsnât this like the fifth time heâs done that this semester?â Koushi stopped placing his hands on his hips, eyes glued to the ground.
âItâs not like I donât want to help him. Heâs my boyfriend after all.â
âIâm just saying he needs to be prioritizing your schoolwork as well. He knows that the universityâs teaching program is one of the best in the prefecture. You have to set yourself up for senior year now.â
You stopped in your tracks to take a glance at your friend.
âAre you saying that I donât work hard, Koushi?â You took a small step towards him. Your eyes reached his.
âYou know Iâm not saying that. I just donât think heâs respecting your time as a student. You have things to do too.â He tilted his head slightly as if to emphasize his point.Â
âI think youâre just jealous that I can sweet talk the professors.âÂ
âI donât need to because Iâm on good terms with the department head and I turn in all of the assignments early.â Koushi placed a hand on the brick and hopped down onto the sidewalk. Placings his thumbs under the straps of his backpack, he looked down at you with a frown.
âIâm just trying to look out for my friend and youâre being defensive for no reason. Just like Naoto isnât a perfect person, neither am I. I just think you need to look for the best possible path for you without anyone holding you back, âkay?â
You furrowed your eyebrows, pulling your scarf around your neck slightly tighter. You were beyond irritated. Koushi kept trying to blame the mishaps of this semester on Naoto, when in all reality it was adjusting to a new academic environment.
You rolled your eyes and continued on your path to class. Koushi jogged to match your pace, slinging an arm over your shoulder, he made your chest slightly dip forward. The contact made you even more annoyed. Thrashing your shoulder back, his arm returned to his side. The leaves from the trees crunched under your shoes as the two of you fulfilled the silent walk to your shared class.
-
âBabe, I know you have plans tonight, but I really want you to stay.â You sat snug, pressed against Naotoâs bare chest. He uses his hand to brush your hair behind your ear.
âBut I promised Kouji and Koushi that Iâd make it. Tonightâs Megumiâs birthday. Youâve known that for months, Nao.â You wrapped your arms around his torso, his body heat drawing you nearly on top of him. His large hand rested on your back, keeping you on the small dorm mattress.
âI know, sweetheart, but weâre having such a good night, donât you wanna go for it one more time. You know that Oda is going back to his familyâs place tonight.â He placed a small kiss on your lips.
âI know, but I donât see why I canât just come back over when her party is over.â
There was a stillness in the air before your boyfriend replied. âIâm just already so comfy next to you.â He nuzzled his face into your neck, easing you back into him.
a/n: back on the grind. this fic is inspired by laufey's song from the start (i obviously don't own the song or any rights etc.) specifically the cover by Good Kid
Donât you notice how I get quiet when thereâs no one else around?
Me and you and awkward silence
You, Semi, and Shirabu have been a trio since sophomore year of college. The three of you were unfortunate enough to have a horrible anthropology professor that permanently bonded you all the way to senior year.
The three of you walked through campus laughing at a post that someone from the boyâs highschool uploaded.Â
âDunno how, but it looks like Tendo ended up in Osaka.â Shirabu laughed holding his phone in front of you and Semi.
âSeems like an interesting guy.âÂ
âAlways is. I gotta head to the west side of campus today so Iâll catch you later.â Shirabu waved before walking away.Â
The two of you walked in silence as you approached the front gates of campus.
âTomorrow?âÂ
Tomorrow.â
The two of you went your separate ways.
Donât you dare look at me that way
I donât need reminders of how you donât feel the same
âYou know youâre not really too good at this. You should stick to the whole singing thing, Semi.â You laugh holding your face in your hands. Semi was probably about to break the rhythm game he was playing with how hard he was hitting it and how poorly he was missing.
âShut up. I can beat the high score.â
âMaybe your own.â You hold your beer up to toast the gray haired man.Â
âShut up.â He muttered. His eyes were trained on the screen.Â
âIâll play the same song after you and if I win, I heard that youâre buying the next round.â
âYeah, youâd like that wouldnât you, ya alcoholic.â He held his hand on the final note of the song, returning his gaze to you.Â
You stood up from your stool, slightly wobbling as you made your way beside him.
âHold.â You smiled, shoving the beer into his grasp. Your eyes met his, squinting with determination. For you it was a childish staring contest. For him, it was everything.
He smiled, leaning his head forward.Â
After about 5 seconds your body shifted in front of the game, starting it back up. Unfortunately for Semi, you were missing the notes without a beat.
About half a minute in, you turned from the game and grinned. Smiling ear to ear.
âTold you I was gonna get that drink.â
Oh the burning pain
Listening to you harp on âbout some new soul mate
heâs so perfect blah blah blahÂ
âDid you hear that Yamada from psych confessed to Y/N in the courtyard today?â Shirabu asked.Â
Semi was laying down on Shirabuâs bed, reading his copy of this weekâs volume of the shonen jump. He tilted the book forward slightly, raising an eyebrow at him.Â
âWhat else is new? People confess to her all the time.â He straightened the book.
Shirabu placed his hands behind his head, propping his feet up on the desk, releasing a small chuckle. âThis time she said yes.â
Without thinking his hands crumpled the sides of the thick magazine.
âWoah there.â Shirabu swung his legs down leaning towards him. âDonât act all upset because you didnât act quick enough in the swarm of competition. Plus if you ruin that copy, you better have a thousand yen in your pocket.â
He quickly closed the magazine and tossed it off to him.
âIâll see you in class.â
âIâm sure I will.â He laughed, watching his friend basically sprint out of the room.
-
Luckily, you had a routine that couldnât be broken no matter what. Semi slowed his pace as he entered the coffee located next to Miyagi station. Catching his breath at the door, he slowly entered to see you at your usual seat, typing away at your laptop.Â
Siding into the seat in front of you, he forced a playful smile.
âI heard a rumor today that youâre officially off the market.â He used the tips of his fingers to close your laptop.
Immediately you felt your face start to burn.
âI am.â You smoothed your hair down with your hand, looking away.
âWhen did you start liking Yamada?â He asked, placing his chin in his hand.
âWell⊠um⊠Weâve studied together sometime in the library. He seems like heâs pretty funny and a pretty decent guy. And heâs pretty handsome too.â
âOh yeah? Why didnât you tell me and Shirabu about him? I thought we were always in the loop?â Semi was concerned only for a moment that his questioning was sounding condescending, but your eyes immediately lit up.
Semi gave you the green light.
âWell you two have been busy with the work in your majors and sometimes when we canât have our group study, he was always free. There was this one timeâŠâÂ
Semi listened to you talk about your new boyfriend for about twenty minutes before he faked a phone call and returned to the dorms.Â
Oh how I wish youâll wake up one day
âYou've been together for a year already and he wonât take you on dates anymore. When was the last one?â Shirabu asked you.
The two of you were sitting in an empty lecture hall, passing back and forth crumpled paper.
âItâs busy this semester. Midterms and all.â You threw the ball towards your friend.Â
âYou said he hasnât taken you out since the beginning of summer break.â
He threw it back.Â
You sighed, crumbling the paper again, hoping itâll keep its shape. âWe had a misunderstanding. You know this.â
Throw.
âYeah he doesnât want you to be friends with us anymore.â
Throw.
âWell I defended you too and weâre still friends.â
Throw.
âIn empty classrooms when heâs not on campus-â
âHey, sorry Iâm late.â Semi entered the room, placing his guitar case by the front door.Â
âBandâs been practicing pretty late recently.â He took a seat across from you.
âAny particular reason?â You ask.
âActually, yeah.â He took a piece of paper from his coat pocket and unfolded it in front of you.
âOur first gig.â he said proudly.
âNo way!â You nearly shouted, your eyes quickly skimmed the page.
âWeâre there.â You smiled.
âWe?â The boys said in unison.
âHe canât tell me not to be friends with you guys. If itâs gonna work out heâs gonna have to accept it.â You said defiantly.Â
-
âI said you canât be friends with them! How am I supposed to be with you if I canât even trust you?â
âTheyâre my best friends! Whatâs the difference between being with them rather than being with two girls all the time?â
âTwo girls wouldnât want you!â
âSexuality is a spectrum!â You countered.
âI knew youâve been sneaking around me.â He pointed a finger at you from across the room amidst his pacing.Â
âIâm not sneaking around! Iâm spending time with my friends!â
âFriends that want to nail you!â
âUntrue! They tried so hard to be your friend-â
âYeah the punk one tried a little too damn hard-â
âWhatâs that supposed to mean?!â
âAre you stupid?â He quit pacing, cocking his head at you.
âApparently.â You crossed your arms.
âGo to his show by yourself if heâs so important to you, but if you do, donât come back.â
Run to me confess your love, at least just let me say
That when I talk to you
Oh, Cupid walks right through and shoots an arrow through my heart
And yes I sound like a loon
But donât you feel it too
Confess I loved you from the start
You stood in the crowd next to Shirabu in awe. From the first note that came out of Semiâs mouth his eyes never left yours.Â
As the instrumental progressed you looked to your friend and he nodded back towards you sympathetically.
Whatâs a boy to do?
Staring in my bed, staring into the blue
It was dipping into the cold months of winter. The four of you sat in the library studying for finals. Hours of silence with small talk here and there.Â
Semi anxiously glanced at his phone, waiting for the clock to strike midnight.Â
âHey. King Gnu just dropped a new song.â He whispered to you, passing a wired earbud.
âJust now?â
âJust now.â
Yamada sleepily looked up at the two of you, finally finishing up his notes. You gently nodded your head listening to the music, Semi did the same, but he never looked away from you.
âBabe.â He quickly shut his notebook.
âItâs getting kinda late. I think we should head out.â
You pulled the earbud out of your ear. âAw, really? I was just getting in the zone!âÂ
âPlease?â He smiled.
âOkay.â
Unrequited, terrifying
Love is driving me a bit insane
âWhat do you mean he doesnât want you to hang out with us?!â Semiâs voice faltered. Shirabu and Semi sat on the floor of your dorm room, staring up at you.
âI donât know. He just says for us to move forward together I need to be willing to put distance between you guysâŠâ
âSo youâre cutting us off?â Semi rose to his feet, standing toe to toe with you.
âFor some dude?â
âObviously, not.â
âSo are you going to break up then?â
âNo, I-â
âWeâre supposed to be your best friends! Weâve been attached at the hip everyday for the last two years and now youâre letting me go?â He frowned at you. Shirabu remained silent.
âThatâs not whatâs happening!âÂ
âThen what is?â He stared at you blankly.Â
A moment passed.
âExactly.â He pulled his backpack over his shoulder.Â
âIâll see you after spring break , Kenji.â He left the dorm without turning back.
Have to get his off my chest,
Iâm telling you today
He sang the chorus, pulling the mic to his lips.Â
Going into the summer, Semi slowly came around you and shirabu again for the secret hangouts, at arm's length. You never understood why, but now itâs all coming togetherâŠ
âWhereâs Yamada?â Shirabu yelled over the music.
âHe broke up with me before I came here.â You yelled, not taking your eyes off of Semi.
It was all coming together.
I know Iâve loved you from the start
Hanging on the last note, the crowd erupted into cheers.Â
âThank you everyone!â He laughed into the mic. âThank you to everyone who came out to support our first gig! I wrote this song with a special someone in mind.â He talked to the audience with ease, finally taking in the front of him.Â
âI think we can call it a hopeless confession, but now that Iâve got that out of the way we have a couple more songs to play for you!â
The crowd cheered again.Â
He played the opening chords to next song before you turned to Shirabu, pulling the sleeve to his jacket to bring him down to your height.
âI donât get it!â
âDonât act like that I know you do!â
It was all coming together quickly. All of his quirks that you thought were just him were making sense. He knew all of your orders without having to tell him. He always brought a jacket when the weather would be slightly too chilly when you thought you didnât need one, which seemed like always. He always needed to study harder even though he was at the top of the deanâs list because you always needed a body double before a test. So many thingsâŠ
âI didnât realize!â
âYouâre both kind of stupid!â
âWhat?!â
âYouâre stupid!â He yelled right in your ear. You slapped him.
âWhat!? It was fun watching and waiting!â
âYou knew?â
âSo did you!â
The two of you continued to bicker til the set drew to the close. Semi started making his thank yous to the crowd once again. You quickly moved to the side of the stage where theyâd exit from the second the last chord played.Â
The crowd clapped and whistled as him and his band exited the stage. You hadnât even realized a line of other girls.
Before he could even raise a hand to greet them, you grabbed the hem of his shirt and dragged him to the back of the venue followed by protests from his new proclaimed fan girls.
Semiâs brazen confidence from being on stage seemed to falter with each step. You kept grip of his shirt without looking at him.
âSo what did you think of the set list?â He wondered aloud. You finally turned your body to look at him. Your face was unreadable.
âI think it was pretty nice to be up on a real stage for once. The bright lights made it feel pretty real despite this place being so small.âÂ
Nothing. But now your eyebrows were furrowed.Â
âI really think you-â it happened so slowly yet so quickly, placing both of your hands on each side of his face, tucking his sweaty hair behind his ear, you pulled him forward for a kiss.
His body couldnât even begin to react before you pulled away. Your fingertips gently caressing his cheeks.
âWhereâs Yamada?â
âWe broke up. I think he saw what I couldnât all this timeâŠâ
âWait, actually?â His hands rose to grasp yours. His eyes had a small sparkle.
âWait a second, you just kissed me?â He mumbled. The next bandâs song began to play. You nodded earnestly.
âCan we have a second take on that?â He shouted over the music. His hands slid down your arms to slither around your waist.Â
He didnât wait for you to answer before pulling you into another kiss. Moving your lips to his ear you said loud enough for him to hear. âI think Iâve loved you from the start.â

authors note: long time no see! Itâs been about two years since Iâve posted on here! And this just so happens to be my hundredth post! My master list is pinned to my profile. Please support me through my comeback đđ»
Your eyes followed the curly-haired outsider hitter as you carefully slid your phone out of your bag. You glanced down as your thumb quickly hit the Tinder app. Itâs been so long since youâve been on it, it offloaded from your apps.
âCâmon.â You mumbled, tapping at the fire logo waiting for it to load. The reception in the gymnasium was slow. You open your messages and click on the name Kiyoomi. Quickly pulling up the profile.Â
Deleted.Â
Makes sense. You guess that it was foolish that you didnât delete your profile as well. If anything you just forgot about the app with all the time you spent together between classes.Â
You swipe out of the app and move to your photo gallery. It wasnât even a week agoâŠÂ
There. There was a photo of you hanging onto his arm, both of you smiling into a mirror at a coffee shop. Swiping through the few pictures that you had of him, the man on the court was definitely the same Kiyoomi in your phone.
Youâve been seeing him for⊠what? Three months now and he never mentioned this. He said he just finished school and he was job hunting⊠He did mention playing in high school and college but nothing seriousâŠ
The sound of the whistle echoes through the arena. They had announced that his team had the first serve. You click his contact in your phone and check the last messages.
Kiyoomi: going to work out (:
Reading the text, you can feel your eyes roll so hard you could probably see your brain. Yeah, this is working out, alright.
Glancing back at the court, the ball was being set to Kiyoomi at a lightning pace. You could feel your mouth open slightly at the shock of the spike. There was no possible way that someone could humanly dig that up, but the other team did anyway.
You couldnât believe it.
-
After four sets, the game drew to a close with MSBY pulling three straight sets. Throughout the duration of the game you thought about texting something snarky or clever along the lines of guess who but nothing that you tried typing sat right.
Avoiding the crowd, you walked down to the rails of the home side, watching over girls fawning over the menâs team as they drank their water and wiped their sweat away. You leaned over the railing, looking directly at Kiyoomi. He has a towel wrapped around his neck, his curls flattened against his forehead from the sweat, panting into a mask. Two of his teammates behind him, were patting his back overenthusiastically while his eyes were filled with dread.
His eyes scanned the crowd, dipping his head in intervals to thank the crowd for coming to the game. His eyes stopped on you, his eyebrows furrowed and his demeanor straightened. Raising a hand you offered a small wave, which made his forehead scrunch more. He nodded his head towards the gymnasium door. He shrugged off his teammates, waving them away, waving at the fans, before walking towards the door.
-
âSo when were you gonna tell me that you were a fancy, big shot volleyball player?â You leaned against the hall outside the menâs locker room.
âItâs not that big of a deal-â
âKiyoomi, I literally googled you.â You pinched the bridge of your nose. âYouâre playing in the Olympics next year.â
âI think a better question to ask is why are you at a menâs V-League game? You donât even watch volleyball.â He placed his hands into his pockets, frowning.
âHanae bought a ticket to todayâs game, but she had to study. Which is so not the point. Iâve been seeing you for months now and you kept this from me. This is your career! Your life! Were you ever planning on saying anything or were you just gonna keep hoping that I believed that you were a gym ratâ His dark eyes never left yours.
âObviously that wasnât the intention-â
âObviously.â You mocked. âYour intentions werenât very clear. If I wasnât important enough to be a part of this, am I just a side piece? I sat through an entire match wondering âhuh I canât believe that this man is such a talent. I canât believe all the hours of hard work from his being that had to be put into thisâ to not share it with the person whoâs apartment you're at almost every night!â
âY/N, I-â He was cut off by the locker room door creaking open.
âHey! Have you guys seen Omi-Omi?â A teammate of his popped his head out of the door. âOh hey.â The blonde said before noticing you. âAlso, hey.â He turned his attention back to Sakusa. âBo and Shoyo are looking for you. They wanna see if you wanna go to that yakitori place down in Dotonbori again.âÂ
âIâll be there, Miya.â He waved him off without a glance
âSweet. Weâre heading there after we get dressed.â Miya pulled the door closed. Silence filled the air as he turned his head to the side.
âYou know what, have fun with your team tonight.â You pulled your bag tightly over your shoulder as you turned on your heel. You barely made it five steps before you heard your name being called. A slender hand grabbed your shoulder gently, making your footsteps slow as he guided your body to look back at him.
âListen.â He pulled the loops of his mask over his ears. He folded the mask nicely in his hands before pocketing it, and returning his gaze to you.
âI understand why youâre upset with me, and if you want to walk out of this gym without ever talking to me again thatâs fine, but you are not going to walk out of here thinking that I donât like and care for you.â His fingers curled around your forearm.
Shaking your head, you pull your arm to your chest, Sakusa still attached. Closing your eyes, you take a deep breath. And another. And another.
âYâknow around the three month mark itâs the point where you consider if you want to stay together and start picturing a future together-â
âYouâve done a lot of talking in the last five minutes, now itâs my turn.â He let go of your arm, letting it fall to your waist. His figure towering over you. âI didnât disclose to you me being a professional volleyball player, especially on Tinder, because, yes, I am famous to an extent and some people only want to be with me because I am famous or because Iâm talented. I have gone on dates with girls that care about my career and not me. Like I said, Tinder. Iâm very happy to be with you and spend all of my time outside of practice with you, in said apartment, but it is not everyday that you hear fortunate stories of people who meet off of Tinder. I was planning on telling you when I asked you to be my girlfriend later this week because I know you care about me, so trust me when I tell you that I donât think this situation is ideal.â He ran his hand through his hair, looking down at you for a response.
A small smile tugged on the corner of your mouth.
âYou were gonna make it official?â
He rolled his eyes. âStay right here.â
âWhere are you going?â You ask tilting your head.
âI still have to shower.â He walked towards the locker room. âLookâs like weâre getting yakitori later.â

all i want to do is write that one fic that takes peopleâs breath away and kinda lingers in the back of their minds. i want to write something that makes people want to make art and play with my versions of characters or in the universe i created. i want to be able to create worlds that feel real enough to walk into and write lines that stick with people until they forget where exactly they heard it because it lives in their bones now.
Angst fics can help people come to terms with their own grief, begin healing, or give people that good cry that they need.
Smut fics can help people affirm and accept their sexuality. It can help them explore their sexuality in a safe way. They can also just be fun, and having fun is a drastically undervalued way to improve your mental health.
Dark fics can help people face their fears or process their trauma. It can make them feel safer and more secure. It can help them find their courage.
Fluff fics can give people rest and respite and comfort. It can give them hope that soft places exist and that maybe there is one out there for them. It can bring up their mood, which, if they have depression, can be a life saver.
And every fic people write makes someone feel less alone.
Point being, just because a particular thing doesnât serve you, doesnât mean it lacks value.
This is not to say that we have to consume all fic uncritically. Of course not. It is just to say that entire âgenresâ arenât trash or lacking value just because they donât serve you.

đȘ¶you know that being in love with a famous volleyball player has its ups and downs. but when he leaves for work just a little too long, you realise how âdownâ it can really get.
- warning: angst :> , reader gets sick
extra note: iâm back after some time! school just started for me and also i was busy celebrating eid! i have a lot on my plate so i hope this imagine is up to standard! enjoy !!
"you just got back," you murmured to atsumu who was running his hand through his hair for the hundredth time. "i told ya i'd be travelling alot! did you not catch that?" he groaned, sitting on the bed, elbows touching his knees.
you sighed, taking a step back. atsumu travelling for volleyball was nothing new to you. it was something you understood for so long but something about this trip didn't sit right with you.
atsumu had just returned for a long trip and was now leaving again for around 3-4 months. the back to back scheduling made you upset. you hoped that you would at least be getting a month or two with him.
it hasn't even been 2 weeks. and he was leaving?
"i caught that well, 'tsumu. i supported you travelling for volleyball but don't you think you've been gone for so long?" you tried pleading with him but it only garner a snicker out of him.
it threw you off guard.
"weren't you the one who said you'd follow me to the ends of the earth? what happened to that?" his voice raised just a little. you gulped back the rising bile in your throat.
"you know i can't leave Japan," you softly said, looking at the ground. you had just gotten a life changing promotion and you plan to keep it.
"and you don't see me forcing you to leave Japan, right? so why can't you be happy that i'm chasing my dreams?"
something hit you right there and there. you wanted atsumu around more. you missed your boyfriend's presence. but he wanted volleyball. he wanted to travel for volleyball.
and you were being selfish by holding him back. your worst fear had actually became a reality.
"i guess you're right, 'tsumu. i'm not allowing you to do the things you love," you tone was something that atsumu recognise and feared to hear.
atsumu came to the realisation that you were actually letting he leave. not only to Germany but from the relationship too.
"you're not actually gonna- y/n, we'll work it out,"
you mouth turned into a frown and you shook your head, trying to hold back your tears. "go to Germany, 'tsumu. you don't need to do it with me around. you've been fine on your own," your voice broke halfway. tears were falling and you let it fall.
atsumu was already inching closer, but you stepped back with every step he took.
you used whatever energy you had in you to leave your shared bedroom and into the living room. you has no solid plan as to what you were going to do anymore.
you just broke up with atsumu miya. the man you've been with for over 5 years. was it petty for you to do that? you didn't know. but you felt awful the day you heard atsumu left for germany.
he told you that he'd leave the keys of your apartment. atsumu knew how much you loved that apartment but it became your worst nightmare at the same time. you were so used to living with someone else.
all that gone just because you needed him. did you think it through when breaking up wit him? certainly not.
waking up to an empty bed felt different. you couldn't get used to it. even though it was been a solid 2 months atsumu had left. no word, no text, no call. that was all the confirmation you needed to know that he wanted it too.
right?
"you look terrible, y/n," you sat down at onigiri miya, owned by osamu miya. it was the worst place to be at knowing that the man currently speaking to you look like your ex.
"i feel like shit, samu. i think i'm sick,"
"and you decided to dine in? that's the most stupidest shit ever," you flipped the man off as he made some onigiri's for you. you looked around to see pictures of atsumu plastered around the shop.
some of the pictures were newer. especially oneâs with atsumu. some taken before he left for germany. a huge smile on his face. something you longed to see once again.
but even you knew your relationship was rocky the day he said heâs leaving again.
"lovesick?" osamu asked out of nowhere. you looked up at the man and shrugged. a sad smile reached your face as you looked at the table.
"was i stupid for letting him go?" you genuinely asked the twin who in return shrugged too. "both of you were stupid for the breakup. he wanted to leave Japan. you wanted him here," he set down a plate of food infront of you.
"but i do know that both of you are idiots who can't seem to grasp the concept that you were made for each other," he leaned against the counter, cleaning some glasses.
you scrunched your eyebrows in confusion. you didn't know what he meant. "he wouldn't stop asking 'bout you. driving me nuts," you felt guilt set into the pit of your stomach.
atsumu was asking about you. you wondered what osamu had told him. did he ask about you wellbeing? how youâve been holding up? maybe if you still missed him?
the could-have-beenâs made the guilt turn into nausea
"samu, do you think i could pack this to-go?" osamu looked at your face and a flash of concern came over him. he nodded and packed it.
"you doing okay, y/n?"
"i suddenly don't feel too good. i'll see you around samu,"
you hailed for a taxi as soon as you stepped out of the shop, not trusting yourself to walk home. you felt dizzy, maybe even feverish.
heartbreak canât cause someone to be sick, right? given that you had spent most nights crying rather than sleeping, youâd be tired and not sick.
oh how wrong you were.
the day you left onigiri miya, you havenât left your house ever since. you had caught some kind of cold, leaving you in bed for most of your days. even when you tried to get up and care for yourself, it was almost impossible.
your phone beeped a couple of time but you didnât bother checking. your head, eyes, nose, whole body was strained. maybe it was the stress that made you so sick.
or the lack of a certain miya in your life.
by day two, you felt as if you needed a lifeline. your body was more in pain that the the previous day and you knew that the fever hadnât gotten anywhere better.
you did, however, checked your messaged. surprisingly, most of it were from osamu and oddly enough, hinata.
osamuâs messages were asking you if you were alright and if he should send some food to your place. you allowed him to do whatever he wanted and now you had food coming.
as for hinata, you scrunched your forehead and every texts he sent. you and hinata were friendly with one another and even talked relationships with the boy. but the amount of spams from him was unusual.
the multiple messages of âare you okay?â, âosamu-san said you were ill!â, âatsumuâs asking about you!â had you worried.
atsumu was asking about you? but heâs all the way across the country. by then you threw your phone to the side and snuggled yourself in bed once again. your arm slid to what used to be atsumuâs side of the bed.
it was cold, untouched and still smelled of him. it made your heartache even more than it already had. tears fell from your eyes once again, as you felt a throb in your head pass by.
you were sick because you missed him. it wasnât something hard to figure out but you didnât want to agree with it.
atsumu felt the same way too. he didnât fall ill because heâs healthy and an athelete but it affected him in the way he played his games.
it was messy. he was distracted. even without the band playing in the background, he couldnât focus. his mind was set on you and he left you so easily.
atsumu knew he shouldâve figured something out with you but in the heat of the moment and with the way you two were fighting, he was at a standstill.
you heard the front door open with still half dazed. you didnât question it for a while but once the footsteps came closer, you were anxious.
could be a robber? someone breaking in?
when the door of your bedroom opened, you squinted your eyes as you watched the person who entered your house stand by the doorway.
moppy yellow hair.
groggily, you sat up while he rushed to your side. âhey hey. donât work your body so much. you ainât well,â he slowly pushes you down back into the mattress.
ââtsumu?â your voice wavered as you felt tears gathered in your eyes. maybe this was your final stage of being sick. hallucinations. âhi baby. i brought food from osamuâs,â he held up a plastic bag with things from onigiri miya.
âi thought youâd still be at Germany. why are you here?â you welcomed the tears as he sat beside you.
âi missed you, y/n. and i hated the way things ended. i was homesick,â he admitted, clearing the tears and stray hair away from your face. atsumu needed a good look at you.
he fucked up.
you fucked up.
âiâm sorry for that day, âtsumu,â you shuffled to be closer to the man and he allowed it. âdonât say thing like that, y/n. you had nothing to be sorry about. i shouldnât have left you for so long,â
atsumu wasnât the type fowardly apologise. but you knew that what he said translated to an apology.
âabout Germany. i left. told them i needed to get home to something important,â you chuckled at his words. you reached out to his hands and grabbed them.
âi know i said iâd follow you to the ends of the world,â atsumu shook his head at your statement but you shush him up. âi think iâm ready to fulfil that,â you voice cracked as a small smile reached your face.
âbut yer job-â
âdonât worry about that, âtsumu. iâve sorted it all out,â you pushed you body up so that you were now leaning on the headboard.
âi missed you way too much. i mean me being sick is literal proof of how much i missed you,â you motioned to you being in bed sick. atsumu laughed and leaned closer to you.
âdoes this mean youâre willing to give us another go?â atsumu nervously asked, fondling with you hands. you hand reached to his face and cupped his cheeks.
he promptly looked at you. âdidnât i say iâd follow you to the ends of the earth? i wanna be with you,â you admitted, a small blush on your cheek.
the moment the two of you were having was equivalent to when atsumu told you he liked you for the first time. both of you were nervous wrecks.
âweâll take it slow, okay? god i fucking missed you, sugar. if i was here, you wouldnât be sick right now! scoot iâm feeding you!â
atsumu took the bowl of soup and spoon fed you every bite. you wouldnât say the miya atsumu was the reason you werenât sick anymore.
but you felt much better in hours since he arrived back by your side.
now the two of you were cuddled in bed, watching a movie while atsumu coddled you. âi love you so dang much,â he muttered, kissing the top of your head.
âi love you so much too, âtsumu,â you sighed in content, happy to be back home. âwe should get you back to Germany. your team needs you,â
you caught the pout of atsumuâs face as you brought up the topic that caused you two to fight in the first place. âbut i need you. and you need me! theyâll be fine!â he childishly replied, eyes trailing back to the screen.
âatsumu. i love you. but i know how much volleyball means to you. plus, iâll come with!â you werenât grounded to a job which you had quit after realising how much it affected your life even before atsumu left.
you had picked back up a skill that you thought you had forgotten and decided to make a business out of it. honestly, itâs been going well so far.
âare you sure? condition there are much different from here. plus youâd get homesick!â
âiâm home where ever you are. unless you donât want me there,â you gave him a look, eyebrows raised. atsumu rolled his eyes and hugged you closer.
âonce your better, iâll book a flight to Germany and iâll make sure youâre seat is next to mine,â you giggled and how kiddish atsumu can get sometimes.
âheard from samu that you were asking bout me,â you nudged the man.
âi needed to know if you were fine. the day samu told me you left the shop not looking too well, i took the earliest flight back,â
you heart swelled at atsumuâs words. he left Germany and his team just for you. you swore that if he didnât propose to you, youâd just do it yourself.
âthank you âtsumu. i love you. okay! okay. let me get better so we can go to Germany!â you excitedly said snuggling into his chest.
âeasy there tiger! go to sleep, iâll watch over ya,â
to the ends of the earth youâd follow him and heâd do the same for you. for the first time in years, atsumu didnât feel homesick when he was abroad.
because this time, you were right there beside him.
The bottom floor of your college library became your sanctuary when you were a freshman. So was someone else

I found this draft in my google docs from early 2020! Not really a fan of it but it has potential for a part two. Maybe I will maybe I wonât. Please enjoy 4.4k words that I wrote two years ago! Def a cliffhanger lolllll

The bottom floor of the library at your university was reserved for pure silence. It slowly became integrated into your schedule to come to the library around midnight to however long you felt obligated to stay. Your roommate at your dorm liked to fall asleep around 9pm so youâd feel guilty if you fiddled around in your bedroom.Â
You sat at a booth by the stair entrance every evening where you could prop your feet up and still get a good view of all the other students and professors working around you. The routine was always to do assignments, study for exams and quizzes, and then watch a show or movie on some streaming platform if you werenât feeling too tired.Â
A month into your freshman year of college, you have it marked as your own personal sanctuary.Â
Tonight you began to slowly nod off into your laptop. It was just one of those nights where your legs didnât want to carry you back to the dorm until the last possible moment.Â
The clutter of notebooks smacked the hardwood table of the booth ahead of you. You and many other students snap your heads up to see a boy dressed in sweats, disheveled black hair, scrambling to pick up his belongings. People let out minuscule groans of annoyance at the commotion, but quickly returned their attention back to themselves.Â
He quickly glanced up at you as you were directly in his line of vision as the expression of worry and embarrassment sprinkled across his tired face. He tried to look natural as he quickly slammed himself into his seat trying to look like heâd been there all that time.Â
You sent him a sleepy smile of understanding before you propped your chin up on your palm before gluing your eyes back to your show, slightly more awake than before. Youâve never seen him on the bottom floor this whole first month of classes, but this was the first night of many to come.
ââ
The next evening you found yourself in your usual seat. The boy with messy hair was there at the booth in front of you already. This time looking much more lively, accompanied by two redbull cans. He had a pair of headphones in and was softly switching his eyes between his laptop to his notebook for his notes.Â
As you sat down, he caught you in his peripheral. He quickly made eye contact with you before dipping his head in a small greeting with the corner of his mouth pulling in a slight smirk. He returned his eyes back to his paper and you opened your textbook to begin your own night of studying.Â
ââ-
Through the week you begin to notice the boy with unruly hair, consistently wearing sweats, had made the booth in front of you his regular seat. The two of you exchanged small smiles if your eyes ever caught each other as the days went by. By now it was ingrained in both of your minds that youâll be seeing each other for the remainder of the semester.Â
Tonight you sat in the booth alone with your notes scattered everywhere. You had already been in the library about two hours before he arrived. It was now nearing 3am and you were slightly snoring on top of your laptop. Youâve been fading in and out of sleep for the last hour or so whilst trying to finish the packet of homework that your chemistry professor had assigned over the weekend.
You stir to the sensation of something cold pressing to your arm. You groggily look up to see the boy from the neighboring booth pressing an ice cold Red Bull to your arm.
He offers a small smile before whispering in a low voice . âWhatever you're working on seems important tonight. Looks like you need to stay up. Donât worry about paying me back, itâs on the house!â
You couldnât help but roll your eyes and the black haired boy before accepting the drink into your hands.
âYou canât go around acting like you own the vending machine.â
He ignored your statement. âThe caffeine in it will give you about 3-4 hours more if you need it.â He towered over your notes before he quickly widened his eyes.Â
âYouâre in CHEM 1070?!â he accidentally raised his voice too loud, to have everyone in the nearby vicinity shoot him a glare.Â
He narrowed his eyes at the students that surrounded the two of you before sliding himself into the seat across from you, repeating himself in a hushed whisper. âI mean, youâre in CHEM 1070? Me too!â You rub the sleep from your eyes to notice the most excited look on his face. You couldnât think who in their right mind would be this excited about sharing a chemistry class with a random student at 3am. You may be a chemistry major, but it isnât the most thrilling thing to talk about when you wake up from a nap.Â
âYeah? I have Ibe as my professor. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, his 11am class.â
The stranger places his hands on the desk before leaning forwards. âOh yeah? Me too? I really love this class! I can help you if you need it! Iâm a chemistry major!â
It makes more sense. Especially now that you know itâs just not a random guy overly excited for a subject that they donât understand. You couldnât help but grin at his enthusiasm, lulling you out of your sleepiness.Â
âIâm actually a chem major as well! Have you started on the packet? Itâs due on Monday but Iâm just not sure how to balance these formulas. Same with the sequences of reaction towards the back of it.â
He had a sly smile resting on his face. âLet me get my bag and we can start working on it.â He paused to extend his hand.
âKuroo Tetsurouâ
You grabbed his hand to shake it.Â

You come to find out that not only did Kuroo have academic scholarships for your university, but also sports. He was a starter on the college men's volleyball team as a first year. The reason why he found out about the campus library was because it was the only place around that was open 24 hours that wasnât the dorm lobby. He would shower and show up after practice to study.Â
âItâs so goddamn brightâ You grab Kuroo by the shirt and place him in front of you as you exit the building, using his tall figure to block out the sun. He hunched over to let out a rather harsh laugh causing you to freeze. The students around you stared out at his outburst. You quickly tugged on his shirt for him to stand up.
âWhat? Can I not find it amusing that you used me as your shield?â
âNo, Kuroo, not with that laugh.â You flicked his arm before tugging his shirt sleeve to follow you to grab an early lunch.Â
It had been roughly three weeks since you two had become acquainted on the bottom floor of the library and the two of you had already created a routine on the days you had shared class. Grab food as soon as possible after class. If you two had the time, hang out at each otherâs dorms. Kuroo went to practice on Tuesdays and Fridays. Later in the evening, sit at you twoâs declared booth on the bottom floor of the library. You had even begun attending his games every Saturday evening. Home or away.On the days you two didnât have class, you two found a reason to hang out. Your two roommates knew from the get go, that you two together were inseparable. Â
The two of you sat at a table in the dining hall that sat between your two dorm halls. You looked at Kuroo as he talked about how he missed his friends from high school. He was talking about his childhood friend Kenma and how he was coming to visit the campus soon in hopes that he could attend the university soon. A small smile rested on your lips the entire time. You never felt bored around Kuroo, everything about him was just interesting.
âY/NNNNNNâ Kuroo whined, grasping you from your thoughts.
âHuh?â You meet his eyes, your focus now completely on him.Â
âWe should go shopping in Shibuya today!âÂ
You place your chopsticks on the table and support your chin on your palm. âIâm interested! Iâm not from Tokyo, Iâm from Nagoya, so Iâve never had the opportunity!â Enthusiasm laced your voice. Kuroo couldnât help but smile.
âLetâs go!â
-------
âWow! All of these shops are so cool!âÂ
After roughly two hours of train rides from the outskirts of Tokyo, the two of you had made it to Shibuya. It was Monday afternoon so the streets werenât as crowded as they normally would be and it was still the time of day where kids were barely getting out of school.
âKuroo, we should go in here!â You quickly grab his hand and duck into the store. What drew you to it was the fact that it was nearly five stories and had cute clothes on display at the front of the store. Plus loads of sales bargains. Kurooâs face grew slightly red as he walked behind you.Â
You didnât realize that you were still holding onto him until you released your hand to shift through shirts to find your size. Truthfully, you didnât think anything of it, but Kuroo couldnât figure out why there was the slightest sinking feeling in his chest when you had let go.
You held the shirt against your chest. âWhaddya think?â You asked, glancing down. Kuroo gave you a thumbs up.Â
âKuroo, Iâve got an idea!âÂ
He stared at you with an expression that said go on.
â15 minutes. You go find a fit for me and I do the same. Then we can go take some cute pictures around Tokyo!â
âI like where youâre going with this, but may I ask, why 15 minutes?âÂ
âGives it a sense of competition, doesnât it? Anyways!â You check your phone for the time. â15 minutes start⊠Now!âÂ
----
You turn to admire yourself in the mirror outside the dressing room. âIâve got to say Kuroo, you could change your major to design and would actually excel in it.â He walks up behind you and presses his hands on your shoulders peering at your reflection with a sheepish grin. He chose for you to wear a form fitting pleated dark burgundy skirt, accompanied with a black long sleeve shirt and a pair of black velvet boots that had a slight heel on them.
âJust another thing for me to be good at, isnât it?â You elbow him softly in the stomach, staring at him in the mirror. He met your eyes and quickly bent over to pick up the outfit you selected before dipping into the changing room.
You leaned against the wall scrolling through Twitter.
âWell?â Kuroo asked, walking out of the dressing room with his hands out.
You slid your phone into your pocket and crossed your arms, glancing up and down at him smirking. He was wearing black torn skinny jeans, with a floral short sleeve button up in shades of black, burgundy, maroon. You didnât grab any shoes for him but his black Converse sufficed.
âI have to say that I did a good job!â
âWow, Y/N! You canât even tell me that I look good?â He let out a light laugh, a look of anticipation graced his features.Â
âYou look really good, Kuroo!â You grabbed his wrist pulling him to look at the mirror with you. In a second you whipped your phone out of your pocket and nudged him to pose for a picture. Kuroo slung an arm over your shoulder and pulled you towards his chest and placed a genuine smile on his lips. He rested his head atop yours.Â
âLooks like we both did a good job, letâs go explore the rest of Tokyo!â
Kuroo led you around many different wards of the city. Trying street food, looking into small shops and trying your best to be each otherâs personal photographers with candids and posing. The whole day was only filled with smiles and laughter. So this is the adventure that college would bring you two. As the day dipped into night you two silently prayed that the next four years would be like that for yourselves.
Kuroo paused on the sidewalk to glance at his watch. He quickly grabbed your hand and broke into a sprint. âKuroo! Whyâre you running!?â
âWeâre about to miss the last train to the college! I lost track of time!â His voice was lost in the wind. He came to a sudden halt causing you to slam into his back, but he held his ground supporting you. He quickly slid his phone over the card reader and passed for the gate. You fumbled with your phone and did the same. Hand and hand you two sprinted into the last train car.
Kuroo grabbed the hand rail on the ceiling of the train as it began to move. Your other hand quickly moved to his bicep to brace yourself. You both sighed before looking at each other with a shit eating grin.
You and Kuroo shuffle to an empty seat. You quietly yawn and place your head on his shoulder, your eyes fluttering shut. Your arm lazily linked around his, all the fatigue from the day hitting you at once. Kuroo smiled to himself as you quickly fell asleep without a word. Fifteen stops until youâre back on campus.
The grin rested on his face as he used his left hand to scroll through the pictures the two of you had taken that day. Your little photoshoot idea in one of the alleys of Harajuku. Propping your phone up against the bricks of neighboring shops and buildings as you and Kuroo striked ridiculous poses. He stopped at one picture. It was an off guard of you staring up at him, holding his hands, the both of you smiling wide in the midst of laughter. The bright streetlights made your features glow.
His chest grew warm as he added it to his favorites. He locked his phone and slid it into his pocket before resting his head on top of yours. He glanced ahead of him to see an elderly woman grinning at him.
âYou two are such a beautiful couple! Matching outfits and everything!â she chuckled quietly. Blush automatically covered Kurooâs cheeks as he tried to withhold his composure.Â
âNo maâam. Weâre just friends- the outfits were just a coincidence.â He tumbled over his words.
The old woman clicked her tongue and shook her head, laughing quietly. The train came to a halt and she rose from her seat, dipping her head in a gentle bow before exiting. He sighed and rested his head atop yours once again. He placed his hand on top of yours and waited until you arrived at your destination.
-----
âTetsuro!â Your voice pierced his ears as he answered his phone.
âY/N? Whatâs up? Iâm heading to the library right now. Do you want me to stop by the convenience store to buy your favorite again?â He changed the direction he was walking assuming he was correct.
âNo! I was thinking screw studying tonight. I wanna do something fun before winter break starts. Like⊠I donât know⊠Go with me to get my nose pierced!â Kuroo turned back on his heel, changing directions yet again, but this time to your dorm. You could hear his smile through the phone.Â
âLetâs go!â
At this point in the semester, everyone who has crossed you and Kurooâs path knows that the two of you spend every waking moment together. Youâve become well acquainted with his roommate Yaku, as he has with yours. Despite her monotonous tones and being unbelievably uptight, she actually really enjoys his company when he visits your dorm room. Youâve gone home with him on the weekends sometimes and finally managed to meet Kenma. Despite his quiet demeanor, heâs quite fond of you. You knew that it made Kuroo rather joyous to have you and Kenma become close, though heâd never admit it to your face. His father and grandparents absolutely adored you and they were always happy to see your face when youâd come to visit.Â
âTetsu, is now a good time to tell you that Iâm afraid of needles?â You turned to him, stifling a small laugh in the piercers chair.
âAinât that some shit.â he chuckled. He studied your face as nerves consumed you. His hand extended to give your cheek a slight pinch of reassurance.Â
The piercer grabbed your nose gently with the clamp. âItâs okay if you want to hold your boyfriendâs hand if you want to. You froze in place, mainly because thereâs nowhere else for you to go. You felt your face get hot. âItâs not like that, we-â
You were quickly caught off guard by Kuroo's hands clasping over yours. He made eye contact with the piercer.
âThank you, sir.â
He returned his gaze to you to offer a soft smile, outside of his normal sly one.
âBreathe, dummy.â
You nodded, trying your best not to feel flustered, you stared forward.
âReady? One. Two. Three.â
----Â
You and Kuroo stood outside of your dorm room, both yawning as it dipped into the late hours of the night. You turned around to be face to face with him. He reached up and gently tapped your nose with his finger.
âIâve got to say⊠You look really cute with that piercing, Y/N.â His voice was soft. He placed his hand on the wall behind you glancing down to your figure. You felt his breath softly fan your face as his eyes studied your features. His dark eyes bore into yours as he leans closer. Heat quickly consumed your face as you pressed yourself further against the wall.Â
âI-I uh- thank you Tetsuro.â You stuttered.
âOf course!â He leans up to place his arms behind his head, just to yawn again. As if being that close didnât phase him.Â
âIâll see you this weekend for movie night since Riko is going home, right? Then you go home for break the next morning, right ?â
You nod vigorously.
âSee you.â
Kuroo walked down the hallway without turning back while you leaned against the wall wondering what the weird pang in your chest was.Â
------
You and Kuroo curled up next to each other underneath the blankets of your small twin-sized mattress. After tonight's study session on the bottom floor, the two of you headed to your dorm and began your movie night. The laptop balanced on your legs. You tried to enjoy the film, but Kuroo was aggressively tapping away at his keyboard.Â
âTetsu, we canât have a movie night if your nose is going to be buried in your phone! You know that-â
âHAâÂ
You jump in your seat as Kuroo thrusts his phone in your face.
âYou said that your final grade in chem was a 96! Well mine is 98!â Kurooâs chest swelled with pride as you took his phone from him in disbelief.Â
âYou little shit! I canât bel-â
âBelieve it, Y/N-chan! Iâm the better chem major of the duo.â
He held a fist to his chest and looked off into the corner of your dorm room as if he were living in a movie. You rolled your eyes before hitting his chest.Â
âItâs okay Tetsu! Iâll get you next semester!â You sunk back in your seat with a confident smirk resting on your lips.
You two sat in your own pride watching the movie until your eyes began to droop. You feel a light weight on your shoulder and turn to see Kuroo dead asleep. Cute snores coming out every other breath. You couldnât help but smile. You reached to close your laptop before carefully reaching down on the floor below you.
You return to your spot to feel your eyes begin to close. Not before long you drift off to sleep.Â
ââ
You wake up to something warm wrapped around your body. Your eyes groggily open to be face to face with Kuroo. His eyes crinkle slightly as his eyes catch yours. Your head jerked back in surprise, but his hand was ready to catch you from throwing yourself from the small bed.
Your eyes quickly scanned his face confusedly. Why wasnât he uncomfortable? Was he just as surprised when he woke up with his arms around you? Was he-
Your thoughts were interrupted by Kuroo stroking a thumb over your cheek.Â
âGâmorning, Y/N-chan .â His voice was raspy, but his features were softened compared to any other time youâd see him.Â
âGood morning, Tetsuro.â You mumble, not breaking away from his gaze. His hand stopped to rest on your cheek, before his eyes fluttered shut. He slowly began to move closer until the tips of your nose touched.Â
You jolt up in your bed immediately, refusing to look at him.Â
âIâm sorry, I just thought-â he mumbled in the smallest voice. You ignored him.Â
âWhat time is it?â You scrambled through the sheets looking for your phone, refusing to make eye contact with him. You felt his soft gaze follow your movements.Â
âShit! My train for home leaves in an hour.â You quickly slide yourself off the bed, plopping to the floor. You hurry to get your suitcases together that youâd already packed. The sound of feet landing on the ground next you makes you jump slightly. You nervously fidgeted with your things before a hand clasped your wrists.
âDo you want me to carry these to the station for you, L/N?â His words came out with caution. You flinch at the sound of your surname. Not looking into his direction you nod. He gathers your things in his hands and walks out your room without glancing back.Â
Not a word was spoken at the train station. You played with your hands as you tail Kuroo along the streets of the university. His eyes did not shift anywhere but straight ahead.Â
Upon arriving he places your bags at your feet. He meets your eyes with a blank, emotionless stare.Â
âIâll see you after break.â With the simple words pouring monotonously from his mouth he turns around with a hand raised. You reach for his shirt as he turns away, but heâs already gone with a swift stride.Â
âTokyo to Nagoya! Now boarding!âÂ
You sign before picking up your bags and making your way onto the train. Staring at the window, the only thought in your head is why didnât you kiss him back?
ââ-
As the spring semester started, you and Kuroo acted as if nothing had occurred before you left, if anything the two of you were closer than before. Casually holding hands as you walked to classes, at the library, to the dorms, but never a word being said by either of it. Â
âTetsuro! Come help me carry this box up the stairs! Itâs too heavy!âÂ
âMake Kenma help you! Heâs already down there!âÂ
It was now the fall semester of your second year of college and you, Kuroo, and Kenma were moving into your apartment. The three of you managed to get a discounted rent on a 3 bedroom on the edge of campus, you all quickly signed the lease right before spring rolled around.Â
Kenma grabbed the box from your arms and turned to face up the stairs with a heavy sigh. You chuckled and returned to your car to retrieve smaller boxes.Â
A pair of arms snaked around your waist. You smiled and sank into him.
âTetsuro, you canât just come behind me like that.â
âSorry about that.â Kuroo placed a gentle kiss on your temple and took the remaining boxes from your hands. He gave you a quick wink and began walking up the stairs.Â
âTetsu! Those go to my room!â
âI know!â He called over his shoulder.
You reach up to close the trunk of the car before dusting your hands off your shorts. With hands on your hips you stare up to see Kenma glaring down at you from the balcony. You offer a slight wave and a gentle smile just to have him roll his eyes and return inside.Â
Your body sank into itself as your features sank. You made your way upstairs to join your two roommates.Â
ââ-
âIâm home.â Kenma appears through the front door to see you and Kuroo holding each other on the couch while watching TV. His face immediately distorted into a look of resentment.Â
âWhy do you always look like that when the three of us are in the same room, Kenma?â You lifted your head from Kurooâs chest curiously. He closes the door behind him while muttering, âWhy do you two act like that when youâre not even dating, itâs annoying. Just get together already.â
You felt Kuroo stiffen under you before the words poured out of your mouth, âWe donât like each other like that, Kenma. Weâre just good friends. Right, Tetsuro?â You slightly dig your elbow into his stomach, awaiting an answer. He quickly straightens up in his spot, leaning away from you.
âRight.â He paused looking to his side. âWeâre good friends.â He scratched the back of his head quickly before standing from the couch.Â
âIâm going to bed, goodnight.â
You glance down at your watch, calling after him. âTetsu, itâs only 8pm, why are-â
âGoodnight.â
His bedroom door abruptly closed before you threw your head against the couch. You groaned into your hands as Kenma squinted his eyes at you.Â
âFor someone whose major is incredibly difficult, and is on the deanâs list, youâre incredibly stupid, arenât you?â
Your hands slid off your face to reveal a glare. âWho the hell are you calling stupid, Kozu-â
Kenma was already fiddling with his phone, not even looking in your direction. âKuroo loves you. Itâs kind of obvious. He does everything for you and never leaves your side. And you kind of just string him along by letting him sleep with you at night and letting him kiss you. Heâs not saying anything so you wonât leave him. If youâre going to keep acting this way you ought to leave him alone.âÂ
With his nose still buried in his phone he walks to his bedroom without another word.Â
