suddenly remembered that i designed Graves' mom way back in 2021...

man, it's been a while...

anyway, i've picked up baldur's gate 3 again and seemingly closing in on actually ending at least one playthrough! so it seems like the good time to introduce my main Tav (because of course I've made a whole gaggle of them ahah), Vertigo!

so, basically - Vertigo is a captain of a small, but precious ship and leader of adventuring party (that also happens to be his crew) and he's been roaming the Sword Coast for the last 50 years or so. Before that, he was many things - runaway, sailor, bounty hunter, spy, bodyguard and many more - but it's all in the past now, and life is finally good...

Except for the moment his ship gets attacked by passing Nautiloid, crew either killed or kidnapped and then killed by mindflayers and Avernus locals, and his beloved swarm of feywild spirits being seemingly lost to him, leaving Vertigo heartbroken, grieving and infected by illitid tadpole.

Lost and, for the first time in half a century, completely alone, Vertigo stumbles into bunch of people in the same boat with him, and now would have to deal with all that - but at least he knows how to be a captain, so captain he'll be - even if it's the last thing he'll ever do.

He was one of the Watchers that found Faust in the depths of Necropolis and the one to take them in after they showed magical aptitude at very young age. Gottlieb was obsessed with spirits and had spent countless hours trying to find out if one's soul can turn into a spirit without an outside intervention (i.e. random other spirit just copying person's image), and Faust was especially interesting to him - at some point during Faust's youth Gottlieb figured out that they were a spirit incarnated in a physical body and so they became part-student and part-test subject for him. Of course, having spent so much time together, Gottlieb couldn't help but get attached to them, but it didn't help Faust much in the end

also a fun fact from fashion history - did you know that during regency era those one- or two-piece costumes for little boys were called skeleton suits? I simply had no choice but to put baby Faust into one. and they look so cute in it!

i actually had to restart Juno's playthrough because at one point irealised that Oda simply would not be a nice helper to her :.D not with all the stuff she's been pulling as the inquisitor

long story short, Oda took Solas' revelations and loss of arm very hard and very much not gracefully. no mater what she did, she'd been losing relevance and falling into obscurity after dealing with Corypheus and turning Inquisition over to the Chantry. the fact that she could no longer use her bow as before weighted heavily on her, not to mention her clinging to the belief that she was still Andraste's chosen and was meant to enact Maker's will in Thedas (that made now Divine Cassandra try to keep her away from any serious action and Chantry activity even harder - especially after Oda arranged for Cullen to be killed in the dark alley rather than deal with the fact that she drew her lover to addiction and begging on the streets)

so when Elgar'nan and Ghillan'nain jumped out of the Fade and started amassing their following, it didn't take that much to convince Oda that they were actually Maker and Andraste in the flesh; and so when proposed with opportunity to once again become Andraste's Herald, but this time for good, Oda jumped in Immediately. So Ghilan'nain gave her a new arm.. and a lot of other parts to go with it.

I imagine that Orlesian cultist ring mentioned in Inquisitor's letters would've been led by her; in an ideal world she would've been a mid-game bossfight, an unholy lovechild of Broodmother and a Harvester or at least something in that area

and now we switch to Kinslayers timeline!
