timeskip!bestfriend!kuroo decides to steal a lazy morning with you to tell you how he feels instead of using his words like a normal person. death to the situationship! cw: some dumb chem/space references, HELLA FLUFFY <3 + HAPPY ENDING
kuroo tetsuro memorized what neutrinos were because of the way the sun touched your skin. trillions of them passed through you every moment, and with the sheer curtains open on this particular morning, he wished he was one of them. kuroo liked to consider himself a man of logic; after all, he used the same approach for volleyball as he did when dealing with the japan volleyball association. he (whether subconsciously or not) analyzed what existed and made decisions that worked. that's why he was captain. that's why he'd been scheduled for a promotion (though he'd been sworn to secrecy â he wasn't supposed to know that). it was also why he couldn't, for the life of him, figure out what to do about you.

"out of his league
: nerd!tetsuro kuroo x popular!reader
synopsis: other than being the captain of the volleyball team, tetsuro kuroo was a total nerd, a total nerd crushing on a girl totally out of his league! meanwhile, this girl, reader had absoluty zero intrest in him, or at least that's what it looked from outside
content: mdi â nerd!tetsuro kuroo, popular!reader, sweet interactions, pure fluff, fliratious behavior, somewhat mean!reader
wc: 1.6k
anyone who spoke to tetsuro kuroo for more than two seconds knows that other than being a 6â2 volleyball proâ he was also a huge nerd, especially when it came to chemistry. he took honors chem last year, and now he is in ap chem, and a stem club.Â
that ap chem class, and stem club, is where he met the sweetest, and by far most gorgeous, stunning girl heâd ever seen on the face of this planetâ readerâ she was totally his type.Â
so, kuroo being kuroo, he started flirting with this girl relentlessly after finding out she didnât have a boyfriend or a significant other. though he was somewhat of a stereotypical nerd, heâs proven to be quite the flirt, and quite charismatic as well. still, despite his efforts, this beautiful, as well as way too out of his league girl, has not fallen for him just yet. kuroo's convinced sheâs playing hard to get, kenma thinks he should let it go. but, along with being charming, he was also persistent.Â
âhey, reader,â kuroo called out as he stumbled out of the stem club, quickly catching up to reader, who was walking a few feet ahead, her bag slung over her shoulder as she stared down at her phone.
she lifted her head and turned to look at kuroo, hearing scurried footsteps approaching her from behind. a deep sigh escaped her glossed lips as she stuffed her phone into the pocket of her blazer. âwhatâs up, kuroo?â reader asks in somewhat of an exasperated toneâ it was clear she was already tired of non-stop, flirting behavior.
âah, câmon, gorgeous, stop actinâ like you hate talking to me so much.â he chuckled quietly as he gently nudged her shoulder, starting to walk in sync beside her. âif you hated me so much you wouldâve cursed me out by now..â he adds in a teasing tone, his head tilting in her direction.
â... âm just politeâ i donât like ya.âÂ
âmmhm! sure ya dont, beautifulâŚâ he reaches out and snatches her bag from her, yanking the leather strap over his arm to rest it on his shoulder. he didnât care for the weight, he was strong, and he didnât mind the frilly, quite feminine, keychains hanging off the side eitherâ he just wanted to carry her bag for her.Â
reader was used to his quote on quote, chivalrous, behavior by now, so she let him. what does it matter if the physical weight on her shoulder is lifted for a few minutes? not like sheâs admitting she has any romantic feelings for the guyâŚ
âanyways, you headed home or stopped by somewhere first?â kuroo questioned with a light-hearted sigh as they descended the stairs, arriving on the first floor.
âi wanted to stop by the convenience store down the street.â she mutters, whipping her phone out to type something outâ send a few texts or something. she was decently popular so it didnât exactly surprise kuroo that she was shooting off a new text every two seconds.Â
âsounds good.â he hums in understanding, continuing to walk beside her. âletâs go then, iâll walk ya.â he offers, though it sounds more like a statement.Â
âyouâre far too desperate for your own good, you know that, right?â she comments bluntly, not looking up from her phone as she insults him so easily.
kuroo barks out a laugh, shaking his head in amusement as they leave the school building, cold air brushing against their skin. she wasnât a mean person by any means, and kuroo knew thatâ he also knew that he was probably irritating her quite a bit at this point. he didnât even mind her insults. he never took anything she said to heart.Â
âwhat kinds of snacks do you want to get?â he asks as they start to walk down the street, his hand coming up to rub the back of his neck.
âi ran out of these spicy chips i eat at homeâ and i wanted some peach iced tea too.â reader explains, finally putting her phone away for good to give kuroo her full attention. he perked up like a dog when her eyes met his for the first time this whole day.
even sharing a class, a lunch period, and an afterschool club, she barely looked in his directionâ even though she was aware of his feelingsâŚ
their relationship dynamic, if you could call it that, was quite strange. tetsuro's feelings were quite clear to everyone, including reader, yet she refused to acknowledge them out loudâ not to herself, or her friends. they would often ask why she voluntarily hung around him if it was clear that he liked her. she never had an answer for them.
she didnât even have an answer for herself either. why did she let him hang around her so often? she didnât need him to accompany her to this shop, and she didnât need him to carry her bag, or walk her homeâ but she let him anywayâŚ
âyou want some sour candy too?â he asks as they enter the convenience store.
âmmmâŚâ reader hums in consideration, thinking for a moment before nodding. âyeah. those sour watermelon candies. they should have some here..â she creeps to the back of the store, searching around for the three food items she had come here for.
kuroo quietly lingers behind her while she picks out two bags of spicy chips, a bottle of iced peach tea, and the sour watermelon gummies he reminded her of.
after a few minutes of wandering around the store, they found their way to the cash register. kuroo pulled his wallet out of his bag before reader could even turn towards her bag. he didnât need to pay, but he wanted toâ you know, to be a gentleman, and all that crapâŚ
âdonât you have any other girls you might be interested in?â reader questions with a deep sigh as they leave the convenience store and start to head in the direction of her neighborhood.
ânah, just you.â he confesses with a matter-of-a-fact shrug, adjusting his grip on her bag. he was now holding his school bag, her school bag, and the plastic bag of snacks they received from the convenience store.
âdonât you think pursuing someone who doesnât reciprocate your feelings is kind of useless?â she murmurs, her head tilting slightly to the side as she stares up at him.
ânah.â he repeats, shaking his head again.
âeven if you donât feel the same way, that doesnât affect how much i care about you.â he states bluntly, as if what he was saying was completely normal, and not a top-tier confession from a teenage boy.Â
though reader had quite the sea of admirers, she hadnât ever had a boy speak about his feelings for her so bluntly before. sheâd never had someone feel soâŚÂ confident to care about her, not like kuroo.
a light flush appeared on her cheeks as they continued to walk toward her house. she looks down at the floor, avoiding his gaze while also making sure he couldnât see the gentle blush that had now tainted most of her face.
within a few minutes, they come to a stop, now in the middle of a basic suburban neighborhood, in front of reader's house.Â
âthanks, tetsuro.â reader mutters, taking her bags back from him before turning toward her front door. he lets her take the bags with no comment, but he pauses when he realizes that she had addressed him by his first name.
ây-yeah, no problemââ tetsuro quickly clears his throat, turning his body to her, his gaze quickly finding hers. âhave a good evening, aight, reader?â he calls out when she opens her front door.
reader pauses, not moving for a brief second before she turns back around to face him once again, making eye contact again. both of them donât speak for a few agonizingly long seconds, instead just staring at one another.
âif you donât have some stupid volleyball crap this saturday, you can take me out, alright?â reader calls out, the flush on her face returning, though she tried her best to keep her expression totally neutral. âlike, on a date.â she clarifies after clearing her throat.
he sputters, caught off guard by her sudden offer.
sheâd been so cold the whole dayâ not just the whole day but the last few months⌠and basically since she met him. why would she ask for a date out of nowhere like this? but he quickly snapped out of his own thoughts, realizing she was offering him a date, a real date! he didnât think this would come so soon!
ây-yeah!â he chirps in response, taking a large step forward out of excitement, unable to contain himself properly. âi donât have anythinâ this saturday! iâll swing by here at around 2 if thatâs good for you?âÂ
reader hesitates for a brief moment before nodding again, âmmhm, 2 is good for me.â she murmurs before walking into the house and slamming the door shut behind her.
kuroo stands there for another few seconds, now just staring at the door as he finishes processing what just happened. then it clicks for himâ he has a date⌠he has a date with the girl heâd been crushing on for months!Â
âhell yeah!â he exclaims in excitement, quickly pumping his fist into the air like an overexcited little kid who was just promised ice cream.
but he couldn't bring himself to care about his childish behavior. all he could think about was how excited he was at the fact that he now had a confirmed date with reader. he knows he has to plan out the most jaw-dropping date ever tooâ he has to impress her!

kuroo x reader part 1
âYo! Wait up!â You sprint after the ravenet and his pudding head friend, catching your breath as they turn around. âOh hey y/nâ Kenma says, going back to his game as you three continue walking to school. You put an earbud in and hand the other to Kuroo, him taking  it. You look over Kenmaâs shoulder to the console heâs holding. âWhat are you playing now?â You ask as you see his character get beheaded by a monster. Without looking up he answers in his usual monotone voice, âmonster hunter.â You shuffle through your playlist, landing on the opening song to an anime you watch and singing along to the words. âSomeoneâs energized today.â Your rooster head friend comments with his trademark smirk. âOh shut up you listen to the periodic table song.â He chuckles and you nudge his side, collecting your earbud to head to your locker once you arrive to the school gates. âHave fun Iâll see yâall laterâ you yell towards them as you ran to your locker, grabbing your books and heading to first period.

Camp counsellors with Kuroo Tetsurou
Smack!
Right across the back of my head, I whip my head around, searching for the culprit. My eyes narrowing as they zeroed in on none other than Kuroo. My designated frenemy and fellow camp counsellor.
âIMAGINE not having your phoneâ. He grinned, tugging his phone out of his pocket, and dangling it in my face like a piece of meat. I sigh, swatting his phone away from my face as he pushed it closer.
It was nine oâclock in the morning and he was acting like this? This was gonna be a looong two weeks.
âYou know⌠you just gotta be more slick,â he shrugged, that stupid smug grin appearing. I narrowed my eyes, crossing my arms over my chest.
âFor your information, I didnât give my phone in, dingus.â
I watched him blink, his expression blank. He looked like I had just told him a rhyme he couldnât figure out. I sighed, how small was this guys brain?
âI gave them a trap phone, genius.â
His eyebrows lifted. The confusion shifting into something smug, like he was saying âohhhâ.
âIâm not stupid.â I murmured, letting out a well deserved scoff. He shrugged, âagree to disagree.â Which made me inevitably roll my eyes.
âAnyways⌠howâd you manage to keep your phone?â Now it was my turn to raise an eyebrow.
He grinned, nudging his shoulder towards the direction of one of the other counsellors, the one collecting phones. I watched his expression, he looked far too proudâ puffing his chest out with a smirk.
âIâve got a trick or two up my sleeve.â
I groan. Rubbing my nose bridge. âDid you seriously bribe the other counsellor?â He shrugged his shouldersâ he knew damn well that the other counsellor in fact had a crush on him. âIâm just using my advantages. Whatâ are you jealous?â He wiggled his eyebrows at me, leaning in just a few inches above my face.
I reached up and flicked his forehead. âIn which alternate universe would I everââ
RING RING RINGGG!!!!
We both look towards the crowd, and where the sound of the bell came from. Everyone was being given cabin and counsellors.
âWell donât just stand there? Come on!â I nudge him, and we get moving towards the crowd. He was rubbing his forehead, murmuring something about me beating him up.
We moved through the crowd until we were at the front with the rest of the counsellors. And just as my name was shouted.
âY/n and group three! Youâre going to the purple cabin!â
I moved through the crowd, getting to my group of campers. I led them to the purple cabin, telling them the rules we had about cabins on the way there.
â⌠and these rules are to be kept, so donât try and sneak out or do something stupidâ because weâll find out. Alright?â
The cabin was fairly medium sized. It had four bunk beds and two dressers pushed to the sides of each wall. I sighed when the campers started arguing about whoâs getting which bunk bed.
âHeyâ guys! Rock, paper, scissors, who wins gets the top bunk. Remember, there are other people around us, so keep it down.â
The campers reluctantly nodded and started playing rock, paper, scissors. I stepped out for a minute, only rounding the corner of my cabin before knocking into something hard.
I looked up, already grumbling as I recognised who I was looking at.
âWhat do you want, Kuroo?â I asked, holding my nose with an irritated expression.
He didnât say much, just grinned and grabbed my wrist, tugging me along as he led me elsewhere. His feet moved faster than my own could process as I was tugged along somewhere, his mind seemed set on this.
âWoah slow down, dude! Hey, where are you taking meâ?â He stopped abruptly in front a bigger cabin, making me bump into his back. I stumbled, taking a few steps back.
He turned to me with a pleading expression, looking like he had something on his mind. Like he was egging me on. âOkay, so I want you to give me a tour of your cabin.â I raised an eyebrow, crossing my arms. âAnd what made you think this is my cabin?â
He looked a little shy all of a sudden, rubbing the back of his neck. Like he was being exposed.
âBecause itâs the female counsellors cabin?..â i sighed, of course it was. I was probably away with my group of kids as they announced it.
âAnd why do you want a tour of the girls cabin? Perv.â He scoffed and made this stupid face as if he was some kicked puppyâ or more like cat, since his hair seemed to look more like cat ears by the day (in the way that its spiky if ykwim)
I rolled my eyes, patting his shoulder and grabbing him by the fabric of his shirt to reluctantly lead him into the girls cabin.
âWeâre inside now, itâd be really great if you could tell me what all this was abâ?â I paused. Whyâd he look so pleased? Whatâs with the expression on his face?âŚ
âYk, keep holding me like that and I might just think you want me closer.â He smirked, and I swear I felt my eye twitch. As if by reflex, I immediately let go of his jersey. Rolling my eyes, because of course his mind went there.
âShut up, dingus. Now tell me what you want before the other girls start thinking youâre here to perv on themâ which I wouldnât put past you butâŚ?â I trailed off, raising an eyebrow.
I watched his smirk grow into a shit eating grin, then he simply shrugged and made his way over to what I assumed was my bed⌠since it was plastered in polaroid pictures of me sleeping on the bus.
Well mostly, some were of me eating a chocolate lava cake as a thirteen year old. It was a memory I donât think Iâd ever forget.
My thirteenth birthday, Kuroo had turned up at my doorstep with a huge chocolate lava cake. Something I had jokingly made a comment about a few days prior.
I remember gasping and pulling him into my house like someone was watching us, and we were doing something illegal. âI canât believe you actually bought one! Thank you, thank you, thank you!â I had yelled and immediately dug into it. And after what mightâve been only five minutes, I had chocolate smeared all over my face.
I also remember smearing chocolate all over his polaroid camera. But thatâs another memory.
Despite the terrible pictures he had put up of meâ it was kinda cute.
The majority of them had been hung up on a string of fairy lights across the wall. I let out an amused chuckle, fighting back the urge to smile ear-to-ear and give him the biggest hug.
âKuroo, omg what did you do?â I climbed onto the bed, pulling one of the polaroids into my hand, gasping and laughing.
âOh my god! Whereâd you even find this?â I said, finally looking up at him. I was met with his gaze on me already, an expression far too soft for someone who claimed to only be my âchildhood frenemyâ.
He cleared his throat, shrugging and trying to appear nonchalant and tough as he always does. But I could see the tips of his ears turning pink.
âI donât know.. itâs just something I found while packing and I thought this would be a.. good surprise.?â He looked like he was having a hard time coming up with the words. I only smiled and reached up to ruffle his hair, snorting at his shy behaviour after being caught doing something genuinely nice for me. At the sudden touch, I watched his ears and cheeks turn a rosy pink colour.
âWell it was really nice of you, so thank you. Even though you could most certainly have picked better pictures of me..â I teased, watching a smile take over his face.
âYou like it?â He immediately calmed down, looking at the ceiling like he had found a sudden interest in it. âI meanâ yeah, of course.â
To ruin the cute moment of Kuroo being momentarily vulnerableâŚ
âHeyâ since you saw mine, can I see your cabin?â I questioned, standing up to pull him towards the boys cabin.
He quite literally skidded to stop me from pulling him any further, like animatedly so.
âUh so thatâs not happening. The boys dorm looks like actual shit.â He frowned, rolling his eyes like he wasnât apart of it.
I shrugged, my expression not changing much despite a single quirk of my lips. âProbably because youâre like inhabiting in it so like your stench reaches every corner.â
He audibly gasped at that, âyo wtf?â His expression shifted into confusion then annoyance. âThat was totally uncalled for, make sure your door is locked tonightâ what the hell??â He looked genuinely offended, I shrugged it off.
This is.. this is all i got.. hard block is hitting SO fucking hard I can't
