Hello everybody. It is time for a serious conversation. It's been 3 years since I've been using this platform. After enough time to adjust, I'm ready for a debate and express my thoughts on Tumblr as a whole. I must ask, what are your thoughts on Tumblr? I have expressed many times that it is a decent place. That's it! Decent. However, as I have said time and time again, I do really have a severe love/hate relationship with the platform.😐😅
Tumblr has its ups and downs for sure. In fact, my experience on this site has been mixed. When I joined the site on August 1, 2023, it was just another alternative to my Twitter during all the dumbness that was going on over at Twitter. The first 2 months were overall good. Perhaps Tumblr has gained a resurgence as lots of people from Twitter began migrating here. However, I'm sure it led to trouble. Of course, my feelings towards Tumblr quickly changed after the disturbing, disgusting, dangerous, and horrific events that took place in November 2023. Only 3 months in of my time on Tumblr and that situation left a permanent distaste in my mouth for the platform. I'm sure we all know what I'm talking about which we DO NOT talk about.😅
The trauma I gained from THAT has completely changed my perspective on this...rather questionable platform. And it turns out, Tumblr has a problem with crazy people on the platform. Of course, we never ever talk about THAT ever again. It's best to leave IT behind, and forgotten. But just know, what I think about Tumblr is...complicated. Sometimes I just can't stand the place.😅
I can't even spend like, 1 minute on here sometimes. It's like, every time I go on here, there's at least one post that makes me cringe. There's so many people on here who just feel out of touch from reality. And it makes me worried. Some may say Tumblr is dying. It's impressive it's managed to stay relevant despite its reputation for having very weird people who stan over the most random things.😅
But I'm more worried, is Tumblr slowly becoming the next DeviantArt? Now my positive thoughts, I think Tumblr is a wonderful place to view art. The Fandom side however, well, everybody knows I just cannot stand fandoms.😐😅
Even in communities I've seen like, the weirdest people. There's so many times I look at a post and I can't understand what it is. Especially when the tags are just gibberish stuff.😅
What I'm trying to say is sometimes this place concerns me. When you just want to post something fun or look at cool stuff, and then you got people on the other side who just, post weird cringe stuff of mostly f*tishizing over things, it's kind of a turn off and makes people want to avoid the platform. Again, Tumblr can be a cool place in fact, a great place for artists and creators! But at the same time, it's starting to give me DeviantArt vibes and I'm just worried Tumblr's going to eventually fall in the same problem. It probably already has. I'm sorry, I just have a complicated relationship with Tumblr. Especially after everything that happened to me only 3 months fresh after I joined. And believe me, it was way, WAY worse than Facebook! That's for sure! There's just things on Tumblr that leave a distaste for me. The "ask me anything" tool just feels like an excuse for randos to intimidate you for no reason. I really don't trust that tool. In fact, I have trust issues with this platform in some cases. Could it just be a case of Twitterheads migrating over here and now we have to suffer through them? Who knows. In conclusion, Tumblr is decent. It's a complicated experience, but it's fine. Anyway, rant over.😅
I'm curious, what are your thoughts on Tumblr? Is it great, or is it cursed? How's your Tumblr experience and do you think people on here can be a little...too much?
