Remember hearing about this Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door AU where instead of Mario receiving the letter from Princess Peach asking for his help with the “legendary treasure” Wario and Waluigi essentially take it away from him without him, realizing it whilst they do their daily early morning hobby of scavenging through his and Luigi’s mailbox being obviously lured by the potential of finding what they believed to be riches they embark on the journey of Rogueport. Going through a quest that follows the same beats as the canon one just with a few noticeable changes. Don’t know who made it off the top of my head, but they weren’t making that half bad of an idea Wario and Walugi are already rather entertaining characters at least to me, so I think them being the main focal point of this alone is a massive draw in to many. hopefully there’s a segment where they just collectively jump Beldam.
