How we know Taylor will 👻 the wedding 💒 ...
Because of the 🫚 riddle we got 8 days before the engagement announcement:
Okay, so the first section in white always gave me ghosting the wedding vibes but I wanted to untangle the second half before I posted anything AND NOW with the new countdown pointing to the 20th anniversary of Tim McGraw.....I feel like my decoding skills are working overtime...
If we can just jump to the last line in the riddle real quick:
"So look in the past with palimpsest extrospection..."
If you're not aware, a palimpsest is a re-writting of text on top of the old text. See below 👇🏻
And extrospection is the opposite of introspection -- so instead of being an analysis on why your brain does the things it does, it's an exploration of what external contributing factors make up a story. This of course in the beginning made me think of a re-recorded album.
As y'all know, I believe the re-recorded version of Taylor's debut album will be released on its 20th anniversary in October BUT I had forgotten Tim McGraw was released as a single first. In June.... 🌈✨
I did an analysis last year (before deleting it) on the acoustic version of ruin the friendship where there is a very "blink and you'll miss it" lyric change.
"Wilted corsage dangles from OUR wrists" -- Meaning the muse of the song was also wearing a corsage. And sure, I'm sure guys can wear corsages....in 2026. But you really think a country boy would be out there wearing one in the 00s. In case you're too young to know/remember, the answer is an overwhelmingly strong NO.
Also, if we could just use our brains and recall this ol' gem...
Tim McGraw and Ruin the Friendship have a lot of lyrical similarities. If Taylor was still performing the Eras tour, it would be a no-brainer to weave these two songs together. Example:
"September saw a month of tears
And thanking God that you weren't here
To see me like that
But in a box beneath my bed
Is a letter that you never read
From three summers back
Glistening grass from September rain
Grey overpass full of neon names

And everyone on this tag knows who Ruin the Friendship is about:
ANYWAYS, the Toy Story-esque countdown was deleted pretty soon after release so people are unsure whether this means she's on the soundtrack BUT if she's not, it could definitely be a nod towards the 20th anniversary of Tim McGraw. I'd love a re-release with the correct pronouns.
She said the way my blue eyes shined
Put those Georgia stars to shame that night -- I said, "That's a lie"...
"4t7 steps ahead with practiced leers."
This line in hindsight is the wedding date: 4/7
"Practiced leers" tho immediately made me think of every time Taylor has poked fun at the idea of 'traditional' marriage...
Which brings us back to the top of the riddle.
"They named her violet (violent) but not for the bloom (flower) for the bruise left after a silent room (run away bride)" -- In order to really 'burn down the lover house and rebuild it's Taylor needs to do something drastic. Because she's been so loud before and it hasn't gotten through to the fanbase. Look at Sabrina getting harassed for Queerbaiting -- Sabrina "girl kisser" Carpenter -- people don't see what they don't wanna see so Taylor has to not just be loud, but megaphone loud 📢📢📢
"A cut-glass eye veiled lace and light." The use of the word 'veiled' really cemented this idea of a battered and bruised lace-covered bride walking down the aisle which is why many Gaylors including myself weren't shocked at the proposal news 🗞️📰 We got a clear heads up from 🫚 The cut-glass eye 👁️ obviously points to the one eye theory but cut glass makes me think that Taylor plans to shatter her glass box (...are you ready for it? MV)
"Watching the watchers watch out of spite" -- If she doesn't show up to the wedding -- she can lounge around at home and watch as the news slowly sinks in for everyone that she's not coming. The tabloids will go crazy. The homophobic fans will be distraught. Everyone at the venue is gonna be like....now what? And then in my mind vision 🚜 turns to 🦤 and goes "we should get married instead"..... And they do.
The next paragraph makes me really think that Taylor intends to double-down on her ghosting with chaotic "mad-woman" behaviour.
"She wove her rage through braids and seems, hid it in hems and half-truth screens. Claimed she'd just learned what rose in the dark, yet in years forlorn, an old remark"
Look, the truth is Taylor coming out is going to raise a lot of questions about previous beards - most of whom are closeted and wish to remain that way. So "what rose in the dark" to me is the closet 🚪 And the narrative will either be that Taylor has only recently discovered her sexuality which gives everyone in her past an out OR it'll be a hard launch "I've been gay this whole time and led on these Kens who had no idea" which also gives everyone an out but makes Taylor look like the bad guy....which could lead to some juicy vault tracks from reputation. I think the 'rage' comment links more to option 2.
"She hummed like a girl in a marching band, but every note was sweetly planned." Again, this line makes me believe that Taylor is really going to go hard with the re-writting of the narrative (something I think she's been waiting to do until she for sure owned her masters). The marching band theme (performance costume) goes all the way back to fearless too ⏪
And has been reinforced with both the ME! Music Video and the live performance of the smallest man who ever lived...
This has all been planned since the beginning. Taylor was quite loud pre-debut (I mean the MySpace was loud 🔊)
BUT, that doesn't work when you've got a record deal and you're representing a company. So many artists who are out have spoken about the way they were forced into the closet at the beginning of their careers -- sometimes having it dangled cruelly over them. So, Taylor would've had a plan. We saw it all begins to unfold in 2019 but it was interrupted by her masters getting sold. Why did this interrupt the plan? Because there's no way Taylor would've been given the opportunity to buy them back. They'd be dangled above her. She'd have to jump through waayyyy more hoops. Without the re-records and the Eras tour, Taylor wouldn't have been able to get them which she even acknowledged in her statement.
"You belong with more than reflection" -- At first I thought of a mirror 🪞 but now I interpret the line as more of a "reflecting on the past" -- as in, you (Closeted Taylor) belong with more than a verbal reminiscing of the past. You deserve something tangible. Something real -- solid proof you existed. And what better way to do that than with debut (Taylor's Version).
To be honest, this whole ordeal has felt like:
But I feel like we're almost at a white flag of surrender. This is almost over. I guess that's why I'm posting this. As we move closer towards the 💍 date, some of you might panic, and that's understandable. But hold steady. We were warned it was happening in the above riddle. BUT the riddle also lays out the aftermath. We will be okay.
TLDR: Taylor will ghost the wedding OR show up and ruin everything like a mad-woman. Either way, they're not getting married. Everyone will be confused. Debut (Taylor's Version) will fill in all the blanks -- she's gay and has been this whole time and not even the 'perfect football man' could "fix" her. Then, when the dust settles, we'll get the reputation vault tracks which will be extra gay. My guestimated date for these is Valentine's Day 2027 or T&K's anniversary 2027.
