Does it feel like our technological advancement these days just doesn't seem all that magical anymore compared to a couple decades ago?
Genuinely speaking, I really do feel like new technology nowadays doesn't really surprise me anymore.
You've got self-driving cars, actual flying police vehicles, and actual robots, and yet... it doesn't feel “Surprising” at all.
I admit, these are impressive feats of technology. But remember when we thought a lot of these wouldn't even be possible within our century?
Back when I was a kid, I was so surprised that roombas actually existed and they weren't just some fictional kind of technology. But nowadays, I just feel like anything is possible at this point.
Heck, I feel like big tech companies taint their own advancements too. You could see an actual robot that could act as a home servant and you'd just be suspicious of it instead of being proud at what humanity is capable of achieving.
Sure, it's impressive. But so many tech companies do all these things out of greed, out of money. There's always gonna be a catch, there's always going to be some way that they'd squeeze more money out of you.
We basically live in the bad timeline when it comes to technology. Had it been a different world, maybe things would've been different. But nowadays, we've grown so desensitized to bad companies being bad companies that we end up letting them do whatever they want.
And they understand how desensitized we are, so they end up pushing for more, testing our boundaries. It's fucked up, actually.
Really fucked up.
Corpos just took the magic out of Humanity's Advancements because we all know that they'll find a way to squeeze all the money out of it at our expense.

People have been asking about this again but basically what happened is I was security at a location that carried landscaping stuff back in early 2020 and some idiot customer tried to open and unload a pallet of quicklime by themselves instead of asking for help, and because I was worried about THEM getting hurt I went over to stop them and got a bunch of the shit on my face and hands and junk
It healed up eventually and I don’t really even have scars or anything anymore, but everything went red and raw and oozy for a while and then I had to cut some bits off so it was super grody-looking, so I just started wearing a medical mask and gloves to hide it while it healed
Mask mandates were established here like a week later too so a lot of people thought I was overreacting about COVID for a bit lmao

for those who don’t remember, “mole interest” was an experiment I did 2 years ago because I wanted to test what causes tags to go trending on tumblr. My hypothesis was that all it takes is one (1) post blowing up in an established tag to make the entire tag trend.
I had randomly generated 2 words, which is where “mole interest” came from. I failed to consider that by generating a new tag, it wouldn’t have had enough posts already in it to prove what I now call “the mole interest effect”.
But now it does.
In 2023, we said “fuck it” a la mythbusters and ended up doing whatever it took to get #mole interest to trend. And it did. And it happened to be September 11th that day, and we managed to get #mole interest to trend ABOVE #9/11.
So, in the name of science, I ask you to reblog just this post. Let’s put the mole interest effect to the test.
