Hi im a librarian amd that's not now this works. If a library allows you to have a digital card and not live in the area, you are NOT taking away resources from other people, that's not how anything works. Please keep doing it!!! The more people that use our services, the more money we can get from funding sources!!! Please use us!!! We are not utilized enough, by people in or out of our community. Thanks.
Isn't it fascinating that their "better" alternative to library cards is Kindle Unlimited? The thing known for being Very Fair And Good For Local Communities and Authors, Kindle Unlimited?
Isn't it interesting how using Libby is a negative thing because we're all in the Popcorn Instant Entertainment era? That somehow also equals resources being taken away from those in need? Libby, which is accessible to anyone who can get a library card in whatever form or fashion and doesn't ask fees of any kind
I have bought library cards to libraries in five different states and would've gotten more if my wife hadn't reminded me that budget is a thing. I regularly look up and check out books that are brand new or very old, seeing which library even has a copy or one available. I do have my gripes with how Libby has to operate (all my complaints are about the companies selling licenses to libraries, not on libraries themselves) but I can use it to figure out where a wait list is the smallest or which library even has what I want, among so many other things!
Fascinating how this is the approach being taken. It feels very.... psyop to me in how the actual solution for this problem is Kindle Unlimited, not, you know, the thing the library actively asks people to use and not enough people know about. The thing that requires money and shortchanges authors on the regular is better than..... the library.
