I think my willingness to keep my heart open to making new friends and strengthening connections with old ones after being hurt so terribly by people I considered to be incredibly close friends is not proof of my foolishness, but rather a testament to my convictions (trusting in the good in most people) + how fucking wrong the ones who did hurt me were in doing so

What Happened™️ left me feeling paranoid and scared about being horribly mistreated again, but after talking with close confidants I realized no, people who actually care about you wouldn’t do what they did. A friend doesn’t do what they did. Most strangers wouldnt even do that either.

Also literally every person I’ve talked to about it, from friends to family to MY PSYCHIATRIST, has been utterly flabbergasted at how badly I was treated. Getting outside affirmation that “yes, that was terrible, and no, you didn’t do anything wrong” has helped so much in dealing with all of it. I wasn’t in the wrong for trusting them, they were in the wrong for betraying my trust!
