Stranger hands broke young couple ÂŁ50 to go on a date
An anonymous woman was so moved by a young couple discussing their money problems that she handed them ÂŁ50 cash to go on a date.Â
It was around 3pm on Sunday when Alex Doyle, 23, was apologising to girlfriend Zoe Paton, 21, for not being able to afford to take her out due to his struggles finding work and the woman overheard.Â
Zoe said: "Alex was apologising to me for not being able to take me out on a date because he is out of work at the moment so doesn't have a lot of spare money.Â
"We were parked up in my car - I did notice that Alex's window was open and there was a woman sat in a car parked up next to us with her window open but I didn't think much of it.Â
"The car next to us reversed out of the space and stopped behind. I saw the woman walking up to my car so I opened my door and she explained that she had heard our conversation.Â
"She said 'I hope you don't mind but I wanted to give you some money so that you can go out and make a memory because I know how hard it can be to find work'.âÂ
The couple are now keen to find the kind-hearted stranger to thank her properly - unfortunately they didnât catch her name.
"The strangest thing is that she asked us our names and she said her daughter is called Zoe and her daughter's partner is called Alex but we were so overwhelmed we forgot to ask her name," Zoe added, saying that the car was either navy blue or grey BMW.Â
She described the lady as middle-aged, around 5ft 4 and with blonde/brown hair; the meeting took place in Launceston, Cornwall.
"I really hope we can find her so we can say thank you properly,â Zoe said. âWe didn't say much at the time because we were in shock." The couple say they are planning on going to the cinema and out for a meal with the money.
