For (de)buffs, I’ll use the ATK UP buff as example.

Why that one? Because it’s visually easier to explain.

Let’s take a look at [Dance and Wishes] Ortho SR:

Water damage (Strong) & ATK UP (Small) (Self/3 turns)

Atk stats went up by 15%

Now let’s also look at [Dorm] Rook SSR:

Tree/Grass damage (Strong) & ATK UP (Small) (Self/3 turns) & effect change at Lv.10

Atk stats went up by 19%

19% is such an oddly specific number, right?

That’s because his M1 is Lv.9 and, with this is mind, it’s possible to conclude that Atk buff S goes up by 1% per level. Starting with 11% at Lv.1 and ending with 20% at lv.10.

The only way to check that for sure would be to level up Ortho’s magic up to Lv.10. But let’s be real, I have other cards to give the priority to.

Why not just level up Rook’s M1? Because of the effect change that’s happens at Lv.10.

Rook’a M1 at Lv.10 has ATK UP (Medium), getting a BEAUTÉ 100 35% buff.

Is it worth to level up R and SR magic?

Honestly? Unless you love use the card a lot, I’d say you’re better off stopping at magic Lv.5.

Exception being Healers.

R Healers, specially double element ones, such as [Sportswear] Floyd R and [Sportswear] Epel R, are great for Defense Tests and a great investment too. Easy and cheap to level up + heal just as much, and sometimes even more, than SSR Healers.

SR Healers are a little more expensive to level up, as they use the same amount of Textbooks (middle rarity book) as SSR cards, but they’re just as good, if not better, than those.

HP amount by Magic Level and Limit Break:

You can also level up a little more if you’re just shy of getting that sweet next rank score on a test.
