Have you ever thought of a Neige x Epel/Epel x Neige pairing? What would that look like if anything?

Very briefly, Anon, so it’s not like I have any concrete or deep ideas, but the concept of Epel literally being trained to be the apple that poisons Neige could be used in many many interesting ways and scenarios… like Epel getting sent to seduce the adorable prince that is Neige and stuff.

On a fluffier note, after everything that happened in book 5 and Harveston, Epel definitely shares at least some of Vil’s distaste towards Neige, so their interactions could be very funny. Neige would be so kind and sweet and express that he is a little jealous that Epel gets to spend a lot of time with Vi-kun but he sees why Vi-kun chose Epel as his protégé, and that Epel is very beautiful. Neige would also giggle shyly while saying all this stuff, and his eyes would spark, and his voice would sound sweet and melodic. Epel would probably feel a weird mix of getting charmed and embarrassed and wanting to giggle back and wanting to punch Neige at the same time because god he is annoying! Why is he like that? Vil had a point this entire time!

Even though it’s been a while since you sent this ask, I had some thoughts today, so I hope it’s okay to post now. I also hope you’re still here to read them! They turned out to be quite soft lol

Idia worked very hard on making sure that Ortho’s hair is very customizable, so even though her default is cute little twintails, it’s possible for het to switch between all kinds of hairstyle (the collection keeps growing as Idia gets excited and adds new stuff), so Ortho actually changes hairstyle from time to time and always reports to Idia about all the compliments she’s been getting! Her little Ortho is so cute, everyone better agree!

Idia doesn’t care much about her own hair though, and it deeply offends Ortho: if neesan gets to give her fun hairstyles, she wants to do it to her from time to time! So she basically forced Idia into updating her hands code to be able to braid hair! They do that sometimes, and it always makes Idia feel somewhat bittersweet (or sad) and nostalgic…

Ortho tracks Idia’s periods and knows more about her body than Idia herself. It honestly made the whole experience much less stressful for her, somehow whenever she starts feeling irritable or has physical symptoms, Ortho is already prepared for everything. She takes such good care of her sister…

On the topic of customization, even though it’s possible to give Ortho any boob size, both she and Idia don’t really discuss this topic: Idia thinks that Ortho’s current build is perfect, and Ortho doesn’t want to have bigger boobs than Idia… she might start to reconsider after they spend more time with the mermaids trio though!

Yeah, like I already mentioned, even though all the characters of the game are charming and I want to explore them all, I ended up giving these two the most attention. Their interactions and their bond is very precious, painful and interesting to chew on, so I’ll probably post more stuff. Hero is very interesting, and there is so much to say about him and Sunny, both platonically and romantically as well.

It’s always a shame when a dynamic gets either ignored or looked at under one singular angle, but unfortunately it happens a lot when one character is in a canon straight ship. Nothing but love to Mari though, she would’ve loved these two getting along~

It's so easy to imagine Sunny having a crush on Hero since childhood, cause he does really look up to him, but also Hero is that cool and yet caring older kid that could make anyone fall for him with his charisma. In a way it would feel even more perfect to him if after Sunny developed this crush, Hero and Mari started to show feelings for each other, because Sunny thinks the world of Mari, and would cherish anything that is worthy of her admiration. He feels like he's right to see Hero that way, because Mari does too.

Meanwhile I think Hero finds Sunny cute, but doesn't really see him that way. At least... not until he's back from college. Something starts pulling him towards Sunny, and I think Sunny knows too that it's because he is starting to see more of Mari in him. So from Sunny's point of view, he's making up for his mistakes by providing Hero with what he misses so much. He has no right to complain if the person he likes is just using him. Though a part of him is also inexplicably happy about how this new development in his relationship with Hero allows him to feel closer to two people he loves.

Do you guys also see it as something similar or do you have a completely different interpretation?

What a delicious yapperoni pizza you delivered to us, Anon! Thank you for sharing your thoughts 🥰 I see your points and honestly we agree pretty much with everything, but still I’ll share our thoughts!

If we look at how Hero is portrayed in Omori’s world, it’s so obvious that he is seen both as an absolute charmer and a reliable caring guy, the fact that Sunny just keeps thinking of scenarios in which Hero either gets forced into getting married or into working under a boss that doesn’t want to let him go because of how good he is... even if you don’t see it through the shipping angle, Sunny really sees Hero as someone who is quite desirable by pretty much everyone who sees him, like you would be stupid to NOT want to have Hero. So it’s super easy to read is as a innocent childhood crush – Hero has always been this kind of figure in his life, someone who is Sunny very comfortable to be around with, feels calm and cared for with, plus he obviously sees him as handsome and somewhat princely at the same time. It’s honestly not surprising that we got into their dynamic considering some other ships that we love…

But at the same time, this childhood crush feels very “self indulgent” and hidden within Sunny’s heart, something he wouldn’t want to seep out into reality, even though he has always been aware of it. Mari would be one of the obvious reasons why – he wouldn’t want to even think of robbing her of something that is this good because he loves her, but also he wouldn’t even dare to think that he could, because of how much of a perfect couple they seemed. I feel like he would be ashamed of those feelings and feel like they’re pointless anyway (it’s not like they could ever be together), but it’s not like he could just throw them away, so he’d just keep this little secret crush to himself.

At the same time, if Sunny’s crush occurs before Hero and Mari’s relationship develop into anything, I feel like he would feel this bitter emotional spark of jealously when he learns about it. It would be childish, petty and resentful, but brief and, once again, internalised. He would still cherish all the moments Hero and he share, knowing that Hero would never see him as anything other than Mari’s little brother. And for feeling jealous and hateful, even for a moment, he would feel guilty as well.

It’s very angsty already, but after everything that happened it would only get worse 4 years later lol Because not only Sunny’s feelings towards Hero never died down, after everything that happened with Mari, it would feel nauseating to him just how kind and gentle Hero is acting towards him (still oblivious to Sunny’s “sin”). It would feel horrible on so many levels!!  I think this mess of a crush could either stay hidden within forever (at least that was Sunny’s intention), or develop into desire to get punished by Hero somehow, because Sunny doesn’t deserve nice things and especially nice things from the guy he dared to love despite him belonging to his sister (whom he killed).

When it comes to Hero’s feelings, I absolutely agree that has always cared a lot for Sunny, both because he is Mari’s precious brother, but also because he is his precious friend. I feel like he had a special soft spot towards him, even if it’s always been platonic. He was oblivious to his crush, he would probably still be oblivious towards it even after he comes back from college and reunites with him after all those years. But something would start changing after that point, the dynamic between them, the tension, and it could either be a natural development of two people’s relationships or, in Hero’s perspective, him clinging to the past and still grieving Mari and longing for her. In any way, any kind of yearning Hero would feel towards Sunny, he would also feel guilty for, because those feelings are selfish and feel somewhat wrong – and Hero never allows himself to be selfish. But maybe he should? This one time… maybe they’re depressed and heartbroken enough to do something reckless and “bad”? And after he learns the truth, maybe Sunny even deserved to get treated badly? Would Hero find it within himself to do something bad if it’s justified and he is heartbroken?

And this is where it gets fun, because the range this ship could have is surprisingly big. What you described, Sunny giving Hero what he’s robbed him of, is a very delicious angle to the ship, and even within this scenario it could be either angsty/emotional or fucked up/full-on yandere-like. Very sexy of them!!

I feel like I yapped a lot but haven’t expressed even 10% of Herosun thoughts buzzing in my head.

Reflecting further upon your question, I kind of seriously fell out of love with “western” comic and animation style over the past ~5-7 years. Many of the things that I don’t vibe with now used to be something that inspired me at some point, and it’s still possible for me to find some cartoon frames or comic/webtoon pages beautiful, but I really don’t gravitate towards it these days. In fact, I’m currently at the stage where I try to avoid it as much as possible lol

Also idk how to call it but the vague “romance book cover” art style that’s kind of realistic, but also not really, but also kind of plain and bland in terms of composition/character design? I’m just very bored of it; even though I rarely see it, somehow whenever I do I feel like I’ve seen it 100 times.

Another thing, although I think for the most part it’s not really a style, it’s an attitude that I don’t like. I know you can’t quite read the person’s attitude from their art all the time and judge based on that, but hey, this is why I keep these thoughts to myself and keep in mind that I don’t know these people.

Still, I can’t help but feel like some artists have this “I’m better than you” pretentious aura around them, and I get especially defensive when they throw shade at things like anime, moe art style, stuff like yaoi hands. Speaking of which, I also really don’t like the majority of redesigns of existing characters (save for some exceptions), although this also isn’t about art style lol When someone “fixes” yaoi bishie anime bois, it kind of irks me, and it doesn’t really matter what kind of art style that person has.
