So, as a New Yorker, or even just as a person, I wonder if it was responsible to allow Taylor Swift to get married at MSG at all. This is the first and only time I will probably think about the Taylor Swift wedding, but I think it is a logical and rational reaction to billionaires using the public to abuse resources. And this is nothing against TS in general. I have no opinion one way or the other and I think her first album is still my favorite. But given this context, I have to consider her more harmful than anything else.

I recently saw a video where someone described having as much money as TS does, if so, why would MSG be your choice? Now people can say what they’d like regarding her needs for a large space which I honestly don’t know about, or care to look into for the purposes of this Rant, BUT, even if you needed an arena, why choose MSG…people think TS created whimsy, why not a castle?

Buy an island, build your dream arena wedding, donate it to the country the island belongs to. Now they have an arena, that sounds kind of nice. I don’t know.

All I’m saying is, for TS to have her wedding during this prominent time for NYC, and for the permits to have been approved rather quickly for the event, no matter how much she paid in advance, or for NYPD overtime, (I think it is a misuse of public funding for cops to even have been involved in her security, during a Fourth of July-Knicks celebratory weekend) feels like an absurd slap to the face to the residents of this city. It was in my belief, obtuse, and completely removed from the reality that we all live in.

We should not beg for the scraps this wedding offers, because it added more chaos to the city than anything else.
