You can search for them on this tumblr and follow the links.
Rule one of fandom: there are some things that only exist for us.
Donât send actors fics
Donât give them explicit art ever
Donât tag them in rpf questions or theories
Donât try to bring them into fandom drama of any kind
Donât hold them responsible for what the producers and writers decide
Theyâre still people. They have private lives, which do not include fandom.

This is a Moving Forward PSA for everyone using AO3. I am witnessing the results of a culture class and communication failure. Not a lack of communication, but a misunderstanding caused by changes in fandom culture.
Before fic tagging was common, fics werenât tagged. You had a pairing, if applicable, an authorâs note about genre or general content, and if they were feeling charitable, a vague content warning. There are even a few genres of fic where even vaguely tagging literally spoils the plot and impact (such as horror, psyche thriller, in which the likely content is implicit to the genre). As a result, there is a basic category tag that permits this, as a courtesy to âold-fashionedâ writers.
âNo Archive Warnings Applyâ means the fic is PG13 at worst, probably fluff, totally safe.
âChoose Not to Use Archive Warningsâ is the polar opposite. Itâs a glaring Enter at Your Own Risk billboard. It means: a shitload of warnings apply but I ainât telling because this story requires shock value. Itâs very important to read the authorâs notes for those fics because they might be using that older format from above.
But without the context of fandom culture that generated AO3, itâs understandably easy to conflate the two categories, given their similar wording.
This is a good post with one significant miscategorization: âNo Archive Warnings Applyâ does NOT mean that the fic is totally fluffy and nice, and has no implications for its rating. âNo Archive Warnings Applyâ means exactly what it says: no Archive Warnings apply. A fic tagged in that way has no Major Character Death, Graphic Depictions of Violence, Rape/Non-Con, or Underage. Every other thing, good and bad, can be in that fic, and the omission of those four options still leaves a lot of room for darkness, explicit content, and shock value. Many authors who chose to use the âNo Archive Warnings Applyâ tag will include supplemental tags or an authorâs note, but they are by no means required to do so.
Shout-out to fan-fiction writers who donât or canât write the 50k fan-fictions, because of a lack of focus or motivation, or mental illness.
Shout-out to fan-fiction writers who donât or canât write smut, but are still lumped into a group that is almost expected to write smut.Â
Shout-out to fan-fiction writers who canât update chapters frequently for maybe a multitude of reasons, and get messages daily from people asking for âtheirâ new chapter.Â
Shout-out to fan-fiction writers who arenât big name fans and hardly get ten kudos or one comment on their fan-fictions.Â
Shout-out to fan-fiction writers who stay up all night editing and rewriting and donât get much attention on their work no matter how much they feel like they promote their writing.
Shout-out to fan-fiction writers who donât write a lot and are constantly asked to write more but canât for whatever valid reason they have.Â
Shout-out to fan-fiction writers who have the courage to post their writing online and only have it publicly made fun of for grammar or poor characterization.Â
Shout-out to fan-fiction writers for writing their fan-fiction, posting it online, and continuing to do it no matter how much or little attention they get, and constantly improving as a writer with every upload.
You all rock.
