I just laughed and smiled all way while reading this. Caroline, keeping renaming Klaus, is so lovely petty (and in denial). And the banter is great, i can f e e l their chemistry through messages!

and Klaus is keeping tabs on her is so typical Klaus (and alsi being jealous over his own hybrids).

The event that I just made up for myself.

So this month, since I have no more fanfictions of my own to write, I decided I would take a little time to appreciate the amazing works of KC writers. I realize it’s going to be a challenge and I really hope I have the time to complete this, but I promise all the fics I rec here are awesome and worth your time! @itsnotacrimetoloveyou​ is also doing this and it would be great if more people felt like joining in. Just rec your fave fic writers, your fave stories, whatever you feel like! But either way, if any of my recs helps you find a good story that you love, I highly recommend that you guys go ahead and drop the author a note. I’m sure they’ll love it! Whenever I know the writer is here, I’ll also link to their @. If you do know someone’s @ and I haven’t mentioned it, please let me know!

KLAROLINE FANFIC REC MONTH - DAY ONE: Wild Hearts by coveredinthecolors

Summary:  The vampire in him craved her flesh and her blood, but the wolf… It desired her loyalty. Caroline Forbes would be his first hybrid, of that much he was sure.

Why you should read it: I am 100% biased here because I’m a total fangirl of anything Luiza writes, but Wild Hearts is, for sure, among my favorite KC stories ever and I will never get tired of singing praise to this amazing piece of fanfiction - especially because I’ve gotten a few spoilers of what’s to come and I am DYING to see stuff happen and I just know that it will kill me in the best possible way!!!

Wild Hearts has absolutely everything: an amazing slow burn romance that develops over the course of deftly crafted situations, it has conflict, it has a PLOT, it has action, it has TENSION of all sorts building up. It has ANGST, which is my favorite thing in the world (again, biased!) and above all it has Caroline and Klaus being absolutely in character. This story is still written within the universe of The Vampire Diaries, but with Caroline as a werewolf who gets turned into a hybrid by Klaus and kidnapped while he works on building his army.

It dabbles into things that are grossly ignored by canon but that help us to understand Caroline’s character and where she comes from a little better. And I don’t just mean DAMON, but Klaus as well, and some of the things he is capable of doing that are… problematic, to say the least. I think this is incredibly true to Caroline’s character, as she grows comfortable into her new powers and position, at the same time she’s not willing to overlook Klaus’ BS just because. It’s so believable and careful and meaningful, without it ever seeming rushed or forced. There’s actual progression and growth, both individually (especially for Caroline) and as a… let’s say duo for now. lol I feel like my love for Caroline Forbes is 100% honored by this story as she finds the confidence to be on the outside the person she’s always known she was on the inside, with Klaus’ little push and unbidden admiration that is SO, SO true to him.

But her Klaus. HER KLAUS. Seriously. I have never made it a mystery that I find Klaus’ voice so hard to write. I don’t know why, I just don’t connect with him completely I guess, and I find his dialogue lines really hard, but Luiza does it so well it looks easy and makes me go all why can’t I do this?. His inner voice is so IC that I can actually hear him speaking. The way he addresses Caroline, the way he perceives her, so reverently and never underestimating her substantial capabilities. It’s everything I’ve always loved about KC and why that pairing hooked me the way it did. It’s not easy, nothing is, there are a million layers of complications, but it’s just so right that it becomes undeniable.

If you’ve read anything by her before (and you probably have), then you know just how great her writing is in general, but it always amazes me to see that she started writing this story like three years ago and even then the level of her writing was impressive, and she’s so young! I can see how deliberate she is in her choice of words, and her phrases pack just the write punch. There are some parts that are straight-out poetic. A word I always use is ATMOSPHERIC, because that’s exactly what it feels like. There’s such a MOOD permeating every chapter that pulls you right into the story and, to me, that’s the true mark of a great writer. I feel like I’m in the middle of the woods in Mystic Falls (or wherever else they go) while reading this and a good many published authors can’t give me that feeling, so it’s AMAZING that a fic writer can.

I don’t think any overtly crazy happened during the good!TVD years. No wait, I’m lying.

The year the spin-off got announced, I believe it was tvguide, that posted an article with like info tidbits for currently airing shows. And one of them, was that Hayley was pregnant with Klaus’ kid. I remember this shit so clearly, man. Everyone was so confused. And then they were like SURPRISE, APRIL FOOLS. Because it was in fact April 1st. So ha-ha we all had a laugh, great. Fastforward to what, late April? Episode 4x20 airs, and it’s exactly what happened???

That whole day btw, the day the backdoor pilot for TO aired was just insanity. I’ll say that about a lot of days in this answer, but that day was really just something else. Like we were delirious, that’s the only way I can explain what happened on here. It was a nightmare but also one of the funniest night’s I’ve ever spent on here. I gotta go back for old time’s sake and reblog some of the shit from that night because we all snapped. And not in the good way. 

The TVD 100th. Now, we knew Joseph was coming back for that episode so they hype was real. Because up until that point, we’d gotten a huge load of nothing in regards to Klaroline. They released a trailer, a short one, that’s still in my favorites folder on youtube to this day. I rewatch it all the time because it’s iconic. And there was literally .002 seconds of Klaroline. It’s Caroline standing and then Klaus says “hello, caroline” and everyone lost their shit so much when it dropped that ‘hello caroline’ trended ww on twitter.

Allow me to introduce to you, Klaroline Fanfiction Week.

A week dedicated to the beautiful and eye popping fanfictions written from the klaroline fandom and for the klaroline fandom.

During Klaroweek, we are able to celebrate Klaroline, even though the shows have ended ( and we did not get our happily ever after), we can thank the amazing fanfiction writers who have made it happen for her in hundreds of ways. From their first meeting to their last. Going back to each and every quote that fell from their lips to one another and how we all came together as one huge family and rejoiced in our ship. 

The fanfictions that makes us laugh and smile in joy.

The ones that makes us cry for Klaus or Caroline.

The Dark Fanfiction that sends bolts of thrills up our spines.

The Smutty fanfictions that excites us in oh so many ways…(you know what I mean).

The historical ones so rich in history and makes us dream of stunning ball gowns and handsome kings.

The fanfictions that gives us so much emotion and makes us love our ship that much more.

KcFanficWeek is a way for us to revisit some of our favorite all time fanfics, to find new ones, to write new ones and show our appreciation to all the klaroline fanfiction writers who dedicate their time and effort from their (I’m assuming) very busy lives to sit down and type like their lives depend on it and give us a beautiful blend of words in one chapter.

You can make fanfiction recommendations or a masterlist of your favorite fanfictions of that specific day if you like (I know I personally will be bookmarking your faves). We would love to read your suggestions! I’m quite sure there are people out there who would just love it!

You can also send in recommendations to me via the submit and I’ll post them on the blog.

You can also make your own reviews about any particular fanfiction that you just love to death and fangirl over both the fanfiction and the author. Trust me, it’ll make the author love you forever and ever!.

We got through 7 days of fandom event over a year after having our endgame robbed from us. Nearly 8 years after Klaroline really interacted for the first time!

And not only did we have a 7 days fandom event, we made through it with 85 NEW KLAROLINE WORKS!!! Drabbles, edits, gifsets, aesthetics, fanarts... We got so much incredible new content!
