Photographs from Alan Lomax’s “Southern Journey” a long series of recordings of various music such as blues, gospel, country, and spirituals from prisoners, recently freed slaves, poor southerners and largely black communities where these genres originated, this series became the first official stereo recordings of traditional african american southern folk music, celebrating generational heritage and the struggles of black life in the south at the time and impacted the creation and commercial spread of american music as we know it pioneering the “american” country sound, many of the singers, musicians and dancers present in these recordings and pictures are unnamed to this day.

i (late 30s, m) have been conducting an arts project in the crawlspace of my work, but my boss doesn't seem to appreciate the drawings of my coworkers as animals i've been doing. he says it is "scary" and "weird". i think it's a fun way to bring everybody together. i'm pretty sure he's avoiding me because i stroked his neck, which i get was maybe misinterpreted, but he hasn't said anything else about it. am i going to get fired? was i in the wrong?

After Elizabeth passed away in 2011 at the age of 79, a large portion of the $156,800,000 raised at the Christie’s auction of her legendary jewelry collection was bequeathed to her charity in order to continue providing the services and assistance she believed were important in perpetuity. Still actively raising funds today, Elizabeth’s grandson Quinn Tivey is now an officer and co-trustee of her foundation. Reflecting on his grandmother’s humanitarianism and advocacy, he recently stated: “The fight against HIV/AIDS was such a vital part of her legacy, and although the fight is far from over, I’m honored to see the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation continue her work, educating legislators, raising awareness for the public, disproving myths and decreasing fear and stigma. Grandma stood up for what she believed in, living boldly and courageously. She would never buckle under pressure, and she certainly would not support the status quo if the status quo didn’t feel right.”
