Do you think Clark Kent's first few major articles were about the continued presence of lead pipes in parts of Metropolis' water system

(Average Metropolis reader after investigative reporter C. Kent's 452nd article on yet another case of landlords/business owners/factories' continued use of lead pipes/paint/gas/glass knowingly exposing the public to dangerously toxic lead levels) what the fuck happened to this guy

One day Bruce Wayne mentions in an interview that heroes like Superman are overrated, as the most effective way to reduce crime is to provide public resources and improve local infrastructure, then cites how neighboring city Metropolis has effectively lowered their violent crime by 13% after addressing their outdated water system and investing low income housing. the reporter conducting the interview suddenly starts looking a little uncomfortable

To be clear, Clark is still a fantastic investigative reporter. He still has to track down the sources to prove all this shit

#you should make doing this for a second time have stronger/longer lasting effects too btw#give that man temporary brain damage. have him struggle with muscle memory and hard cognitive tasks like maths and science#so he doesn't even have that to ground himself in a sense of identity#and then give stratt legal responsibility and authority over him and have her be so very not normal about it#maybe she guarded the news of his cowardice to preserve his legacy as an uncomplicated hero to humanity. so people DON'T know what she did#also he'd arrive not too long after the beetles possibly when the project to breed taumoebas and seed venus with them is stil#very much in progress. with stratt once again being the one strongarming the warring nations of the world into working together#but the project is a lot less stable and more fragmented in effort than the hm ever was and there are countries/leaders that want her Gone#that or taumoebas being so aggressive makes them a perfect biological weapon against enemy nations' astrophage fueled energy resources#and if what happened 30 years ago came to light it would give them the perfect excuse to have her locked up (and probably killed this time)#so she can't tell him the truth. and she has to live with it
