I absolutely love that at the end of the day in Witch Hat Atelier, they don't always win. They don't manage to get the dragon to fall asleep with their spell. They don't fully fix what happened to Euini. They don't heal Custas' legs. They don't get Dagda to the King before time ran out.
Yes there are ways they do win, but not without sacrifice.
And that is why I love this story, because not everything should end in a celebration after slaying the dragon. There might still be a celebration, but the heroes still went through hell to get there that will stick with them for the rest of their lives.
